Bruce Allen sounds a hell of alot better than VC. At least that guy has helped build winning teams.

One thing about Allen, is he likes to bring in the older vets. Look at the Raiders teams who were great in the early 00s.

106.7 saying Bruce Allen will be announced today and another big name coach to be annouced later this week. Their source says it more than likely is not Shanohan but someone else and he can not say due to confidentiatlly agreement .

When he signed that contract w/ ESPN, I figured he did it for leverage in contract negotiations with whatever team wanted him.

Wow, I didn't expect to see any movements until beginning of the off season!! But this is good news though, it's time to change the scenario, always have been for a while..

Speaking of Bruce Allen, I'm not really familiar with his history beside being GM for Raiders and Tampa Bay.. Could anyone please explain me? I'm not entirely excited about this move yet; Allen was a GM for Tampa Bay when Gruden was coach, if I can recall right, Tampa Bay team wasn't so good at that time?

I think Zorn will remain as coach for the remainder of the season and then the search will be on. Holmgren won't come as the GM role has been filled, Shanahan will not come as the GM role has been filled, Cowher won't come as the GM role has been filled. I think it's either sticking with Zorn or bringing in Gruden who really runs the same offensive scheme.

I've been a big supporter of the idea that bringing in a new GM now is the best way to go. What better way for a GM to evaluate an org than during the season. He can see how the coaches do their jobs and get a real understanding of whether the players are playing for them and he can evaluate real live game action rather than just tape. Now is the time to me. Good move.

It's also important as alot of teams are already working on the 2010 draft! The earlier the better I think.

Redskin history is being revisited here. Allen knows this city well and has a history here, should be good for the city. Allen's brother is also good friends with Snyder.

I'm all for Jon Gruden being hired as coach......he's fiery and he gets in players faces that are sucking...he can light a fire under everyone's ass here...thats what we need

I'm glad they brought someone in early.
They have an opportunity to study the players they currently have before moving on to the draft.

3 Games Left, Let players start earning roster spots for next year and figure out who can be let go.

I agree but he was fired for not being able to communicate with the players. When he was let go I remember very well that a lot of the players did not have nice things to say about him. That does concern me a little bit.

I heard earlier this week the following a) Cerrato was offered the chance to remain part of the organization but was told he would no longer be in charge of football operations. I got the impression he was going to accept that b) Either Scott Campbell would be promoted to GM or Bruce Allen would be named GM c) if it was Campbell expect the Cowher rumors (as President/HC) to get serious and a fall-back option was to go after Brian Schottenheimer d) if it was Allen expect the Shanahan rumors to almost certainly be a lock (again as President/GM) e) it was leaning toward Campbell

The text I just got from the Redskins says Allen will replace Cerrato as "team VP." Can we please just call him GM?
