Has the perfect scenario occured for the skins? both Bradford and McCoy go down with injuries that cause them to fall into the second round...

McCoy may not have been selected in the first round even if he didn't injure his shoulder tonight. And I doubt it's anything too serious. I'd be surprised if it hurts his draft stock at all really. No way in hell Bradford doesn't get selected in the first. He won't last past the top 10, maybe even top 5. |

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
If we don't take Okung w/ the 4th overall I can't say we're headed in the right direction. Without much better protection it makes absolutely no difference who the QB is: our offense will suck donkey balls. 46 sacks!!!
Okung, then a new starting RT w/ the 2nd round pick. I think Shanny might just find what he needs at the QB position between JC and Colt ;) |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
JC yeah, not sure about Brennan.

It was on IR and now on life support...time to pull the plug. |

Yeah but seriously, is there no hope out there for Brennan to develop?

wha round do u think ingram will go?

Well, obviously it's not good, but as long as he can throw by the time Texas has their pro-day, his draft stock won't be affected. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
wha round do u think ingram will go?
He's a true sophomore, so there's no way of knowing. He has to play another year at Bama. I think Ingram is a lot like Shonn Greene, only playing on a much better college team. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
they compared him to Emmit Smith on the broad cast. WOW high stock is really high right now. hope he doesn't get injured next year

uhh...no. I'm sorry to say it because he put up such great numbers in college but I just don't think he's got the measurables to run an NFL offense. |

I wish we could sent colt to the UFL to develop and get some PT |

What Shanny thinks of Colt is an interesting question. As for the Cult, it seems like it died (or went in hiding) with Colt's performance in the preseason. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
We are going to start a new cult of colt...colt mccoy !!!

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
Too many people telling me he's drafting a QB for me to not think it's true. But I've heard it could be the 1st round, could be the 2nd, could be as late as the 4th.
Well if we do take a QB with the 4th pick then I think Jimmy Clausen is the best for our team. He played under Charlie Weiss and he is more ready for the pros than Bradford, McCoy, or Tebow. I like Tebow but he will be a project for a team to develope in the NFL. I would rather trade out at number 4 pick and aquire more picks than use our pick on a QB who may or may not start in 2010. I rather draft Okung if he is their if not maybe a game changing player who can come in a have a impact from jump street. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
I say if we can trade down take C J Spiller keep Campbell and Brennan, build offensive line through the rest of the draft, and free agency (there are a few lineman out there) and we'll have someone that can take it to the house anytime he touches it whether at RB,WR, or returner. I think we could use a player like that on offense , because we don't have one right now..
I like CJ Spiller to because he has game changing ability which we do not have on offense. I dont think we take him a 4th pick but moving down a few spots if he still on the board you may have to grab him and then draft O-line rest of draft. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
Anyone thinkg Mccoy will drop to the 3rd or 4th round now?
|
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
Admittedly I'm not much of a college ball fan, but from the bits I saw there isn't much to be excited about at the QB position. Clausen actually reminds me a bit of JC...looks very strong most of the time but struggles under pressure situations. He's the only prospect I hear positive things about from nearly every corner.
I won't be surprised if Shanny looks to develop a guy who's not a rookie. I mean it seems little narrow to assume his focus on QB is limited to college prospects. |

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
Why a QB?! Campbell isn't one of the top 10 qb's, but he is also not one of the bottom 10. I think OL and a receiver. Seriously, Campbell doesn't have one number one receiver. Randel El and Moss just don't produce. We need a target for Campbell. Also, I think we should trade Portis for a draft pick or anything else we could get for him. His attitude is not good and he never gave even 80% this season.

Maybe they aren't producing because they have an average at best QB. |

I don't know about him slipping that far, but he won't be a first rounder for sure. Well I'd be shocked if he does go in the first, but stranger things have happened. McCoy could still go mid-second round though. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
I say McCoy is going to be a second day pick.
|

Like I said, stranger things have happened. By the way, how serious is his injury. Talk about a fragile dude. I was just dumbfounded how he got hurt after watching the hit several times. EDIT: Looks like Colt has a pinched nerve, so that's not the end of the world. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
Yeah...I wouldn't say that McCoy is fragile, just that he got hit in exactly the wrong way. Reports are that he is going to be fine but I wouldn't mind picking him up with a third (if we pick one up) or 4th round pick. Hell, I would be fine with getting him late in the second.
|
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
If you think McCoy or Bradford will be better then Campbell in the NFL your just crazy.

That's what I thought, too. It was strange. I'm not saying that he was paid to throw the game, but if he were, that might be how he went about playing his part. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
We need the best O-linemen we can get maybe we get lucky and Samuels returns and plays well and stays healthy. If we can protect just a little JC can do enough for us to win. We'll have to slug it out and let our D get it done, In the meantime we can draft our future QB in the later rounds.

Give it up my friend, Samuels, Thomas, and Rabach have not been able to compete or stay healthy for at least the last three years. We NEED o-line, it would be nice to have a new QB, but we absolutly HAVE TO aquire top talent for o-line. The Redskins inability to score points, or even move the football at times is a direct result of a poor offensive line. The saying, "The game is won and lost in the trenches.", is very true. The o-line is the engine that makes an offense go, if they are blowing holes in a d-line, running backs are ripping off huge chunks of yards, if they are able to pass block, pass plays are able to develop and the offense marches down field. When an o-line cannot run block and blow holes in a d-line, the run gets stuffed. When an o-line cannot pass block, the d=line is in the back field ripping the QBs head off. Sound familiar? Do you realize that in the last 10 years the Redskins have scored the 4th LEAST points in the league? This is a direct result of neglecting the o-line. If you look at any superbowl winner, or even the playoff teams year in and year out, you are looking at teams with the best o-lines in the league, look at the Jets yesterday. It was their o-line and d-line that won the game, not Sanchez. Don't kid yourself and don't get it twisted, the game is won and lost on the line of scrimage... |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
I completely agree. I'd be fine with us drafting ALL lineman, and maybe a RB somewhere in the late rounds (a Shanahan special). I wouldn't be opposed to a QB first, but I'm a little skeptical about Clausen and Bradford...
Todd McShay currently has us taking Bradford. He says he's better than Clausen. Todd McShay's Updated Top Five - ESPN Video - ESPN |

Today's Mock Draft
1st - Sam Bradford - QB - Oklahoma - Campbell might be the starter next year but team needs a guy that can be a franchise player in the future. I think that under Shannahan Bradford can easily be that guy. I think his NFL equivelant in terms of talent will be Phillip Rivers.
2nd - Charles Brown - OT - USC - Former Tight End converted to Tackle. Great footwork and seems born to play in a zone blocking scheme. Unlike Heyer Brown knows how to bend his knees. A steal in the second round. In reading his scouting report I believe he might be a better fit then Okung. 4th - Sergio Rendar - OG - VT - While not tailor made for a zone blocking scheme the fact of the matter is he does have the desirable attributes. |

Mort just alluded to the fact that Jake Locker might change his mind and that he would love for the chance to get coached by Shannahan. At the same time he would probably be drafted by the Rams and I doubt the Redskins try to trade up to Locker. By the same token he could try to pull and Eli Manning and tell the Rams he doesn't want to play for them basically leading to him falling to us at 4 but I doubt that happens. Also going back to Brown, it's possible we could draft Okung and have our bookends for the next decade but I still say Shanahan goes with the QB first, especially considering he likes the type of Tackles that tend to fall during drafts due to lack of size. |

Locker re-declaring would be excellent. Maybe the Rams would take Suh. Or maybe they would take Clausen, reasoning that he is more polished and NFL-ready. Either way, Locker would fall to us. |
Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft
I think we shoud just get Bradford but if we can trade down and get 2 first round picks we can get 2 oline men and use the 2nd on colt McCoy
