According to Casserly, he says that Bradford is the exact type of QB that Mike Shanahan would want. If what they're saying is true and he's Mikes guy for sure, then do you all see us moving up to get Sam at No. 1? I could see us trading Jason and Rocky as well as our 1st rounder for their 1st rounder
What do you propose we give up to get a pick high enough to get Locker next year? Especially if you figure a good line will pull us to a .500ish team
We will be sub .500 next year. New coach and scheme, new defense, none of his players yet. I believe Shanny will bring us a SB eventually, but next year, I wouldn't be suprised if we won 4 games.

Even though Clausen met with the Redskins, I still haven't heard one person I trust say the Redskins have any intention of drafting him. They could be lying, but they never have before. Things could also change between now and April 23rd but I've got to believe that they won't. Further, it wouldn't surprise if this news about Clausen training with VC out in So Cal wasn't leaked by someone inside the Skins and isn't designed to get some team like Seattle to think the Redskins are planning to draft him so they better trade up if they want him

lol at this hand size thing with Clausen... I measured my hands for shits and giggles and my hands are just slightly bigger than his. And I've never had a problem gripping or tossing a football. I can't really palm a basketball, but throwing a football is no problem, and apparently it isn't for Clausen either.

Let's hope we don't play that game. We really need all the picks we can get.

I don't think I'd trade Jason Campbell for Sam Bradford in a straight-up trade. I certainly wouldnt trade our 1st, Campbell and Rocky for him. The top of the draft trade chart isnt all that accurate. if we really wanted to move from 4 to 1 and the Rams were really eager to trade down, i'd think Our 1st and 4th round picks plus a marginal player like Malcom Kelly or Rocky McIntosh would be enough to make the trade go through.

Yeah well truthfully it's hard to know how seriously to take that and how much of that is just that Kyle Shanahan is tight with McCoy because of their Texas ties. I assume the same with Zach Robinson, KS follows the Big 12 so closely.

I think if they don't take Bradford and they get to round 3 (and the Redskins have a pick) and Colt is available then you might see them take McCoy but not sure it will be before then.

I'm not scared of you, I've got right on my side along with a healthy dose of love for Colt McCoy. Sure I've been skeptical of him at times but I watched a highlight tape a few days ago that put my mind at ease.

Also remember this. McCoy's highlight tapes are much more interesting then Sneads. At this time I'd like you to look back and remember Shanahans "talent evaluation process."

You can ban me if you want but I will stand by my principles (please don't ban me).

What exactly constitutes a hand-measuring? From what points on the hand/wrist/fingers are they measuring? My hands are oddly large. I'm pretty self-conscious about it actually. I feel like my hands look funny compared to my frame, and I'm 6'3 220. From the tip of my middle finger to the base of my wrist is 9.5 inches (measured yesterday during all this combine nonsense), and I can easily palm a basketball. I have bigger hands than almost everyone I know, and I heard some NFL Network guys talk about how scouts were "disappointed" when a guy didn't have "10 inch hands." Seems to me if you can palm a basketball then catching/throwing a football shouldn't be much of an issue. I mean, do they want pass catchers dragging their knuckles when they walk or something?

The Big Question 31610 - NFL Nation Blog - ESPN
Should the Redskins select a quarterback at No. 4 overall?

Kyle Terada/US Presswire
Jimmy Clausen will likely be available when the Redskins pick at No. 4.
Now that conventional wisdom (and mock draft specialists) point to the St. Louis Rams selecting Oklahoma's Sam Bradford No. 1 overall, the Redskins are in an interesting position. With Oklahoma State left tackle Russell Okung likely available, the Redskins could go a long way in replacing Pro Bowler Chris Samuels, who recently retired because of a neck injury.

Okung's probably the safest pick at No. 4 overall -- and I think it would be the wisest selection. But Mike Shanahan knows more than anyone the importance of the quarterback position, and it's hard to tell if he's sold on Jason Campbell. He's reportedly watched hours of film on Jimmy Clausen, so I'm sure he's formed a pretty strong opinion of the former Notre Dame quarterback. We keep reading that Clausen's alleged cockiness put off some teams at the combine, but I haven't heard that complaint from anyone in the Redskins organization.

ESPN draft gurus Mel Kiper and Todd McShay are split on Clausen. Kiper has the Redskins selecting Clausen at No. 4, but McShay's never been sold on him. The big thing Clausen has going for him is that he's played in Charlie Weis' pro-style offense and he's comfortable taking snaps from center. Players such as Bradford, Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy are having to make some major adjustments in terms of their drops, but Clausen's been doing it for years.

Redskins general manager Bruce Allen and Shanahan haven't made any knee-jerk moves in trying to change the culture of the organization. If you look at what Bill Parcells and the Dolphins did when they first got to South Florida, they took the best left tackle in the draft in Jake Long. He'll likely start at that position for the next eight or nine seasons. They eventually selected Chad Henne, but the Dolphins didn't rush the process. It was Chad Pennington who led the team to the playoffs in '08.

Taking Clausen in the first round might be the most exciting move the Redskins could make, but acquiring a cornerstone of the offensive line will provide a better foundation. You guys on board with Okung at No. 4 or do you want Clausen? Use the "comments" section to answer The Big Question.
Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

Clausen is overrated, look how good Brady Quinn has turned out under the coaching of Charlie Weis. Move up to take Bradford, maybe Campbell, McIntosh, this year's first, and next year's second could get that done with the Rams, trade down with the Seahawks or Browns who might want Clausen, or stay at four and take Okung. If we stay at four and take the OL then pick McCoy in round two or move up slightly to ensure his services.

The think about Quinn though was that Quinn never took chances and had spotty accuracy to boot. However he had great intangibles and 37 TD passes to go with it. Quinn though has a reputation for spending more time in the weight room then the film room. Not a problem with Clausen.

Another thing that seperates Clausen from Quinn despite his clear advantage in accuracy is the fact that Clausen has taken plenty of chances downfield and thrown only 4 ints in the process. Basically Clausen's numbers aren't inflated to much by passes under 10 yards and thats part of the reason I like him.

Crap, what I meant to say is that right now he has a reputation for spending hours on end watching film. Still Jimmy has done a decent job bulkin gup since his freshmen year.

Also for the sake of keeping this thread alive heres the most relevant part of the article:

Clausen is the franchise QB that we need!! Quinn also played for the shitty Browns where Tom Brady wouldn't even be successful. Quinn will do very well in Denver. I say if we don't take Clausen at #4, we trade a way the pick for more picks. I really want to be wearing a Clausen Skins jersey this season!!!
