I read somewhere that the Redskins like Zac Robinson. He might be a possibility but a lot could happen before our 5th round pick comes up.

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?

Yeah Zac Robinson is one guy they've been rumored to be linked to (Kyle Shanahan-Big 12 connection I think is behind that). Also...John Skelton, Max Hall, Tony Pike, Jonathan Crompton
Campbell and Colt will both be gone. McNabb starts, Rex is the veteran/familiar with the offense backup, late draft pick (5th rounder) will be the #3/QB of the future

JC will be traded by draft weekend.

Colt could even be traded (for like a 7th rounder) this summer if some team gets desperate
???? Campbell cut? huh? If Shanahan wanted to cut him he would have been cut along with Thomas, Rock, and Betts. No no. Jason is not getting cut.

Jason will be traded. When? I have no idea, but possibly AFTER the draft if someone did not come away with a QB, and another possiblity is in August or early September if a starting QB goes down. Skins have the upper hand now because Campbell is going to just sit and become valuable as gold as time goes on.
Any ideas on who that late round QB might be?
I'd love for Dan LeFevour to be around that late but I"m doubting it. Other possibilities could be Jarrett Brown, John Skelton, Zac Robinson or Bill Stull from Pitt? Maybe Sean Canfield from the Beavers...but that may be too early for him.

I'd rather NOT take a QB if we're taking him that late. We have too few picks (today, could and likely will change) to spend one on a QB.

Of course, I think we'll have a a wild and crazy draft weekend with Mr. Allen.

I dont think we draft our quarterback this year. I dont even think we take a late rounder. Because we now have a proven strong quarterback, a late round receiver may be more likely at this point than a late round QB. At this point, we have a reason and are responsible to bring in the guys to protect Donavan for however long he plays.

I hope we trade JC before the draft possibly to KC/Oakland for a early third rounder

Sorry guys, I gotta agree. McNabb has the "it" factor that Jason doesn't, but that's because he's always had a better o-line. Tom Brady, with his best seasons, may not of had star WRs or HBs but he had an insane o-line. Jason took the ctriticism last eason like a man. He wasn't the greatest in the universe and he made mistakes like any other QB, but put the team on his back and gave his all in a situation where most other QBs crack under the pressure. I'm still amazed at how good his stats are for 09 in comparison to McNabb who had it way better. Campbell just may be better than 33 year old McNabb. He is definately better than Rex Grossman

It really does look that way and it wouldn't be that far-fetched to think he's living by his father's "the future is now" mantra.

Honestly, after the past 10 years, I'll take a "win now" Super Bowl if it really works over a longer rebuilding process. Yes I'm getting impatient. What we've been watching is not Redskins football, we're used to winning. I'm old enough to remember seeing them hoist up Lombardi trophies (and that embarrassment against Oakland).

What if Bradford is available at #4? Or maybe we somehow acquire a #2 and McCoy is available. Doesn't hurt to cover your bases and know what these guys are about, for now and for the future.

If Bradford is available at #4 by some miracle, a lot of teams will be lining up to trade with the Redskins. Since we have McNabb (man that sounds a bit weird), we should take advantage of this and recoup our picks through a trade down.

true, but i would think we know enough about bradford that we dont need to waste one of our 30 visits on him. mccoy, i can kind of see bringing in, although i think the timing is somewhat strange - bring in two projected 1st round QBs on the day you introduce a future hall-of-fame QB as your new starter?

In my opinion, this franchise "did Jason Campbell wrong" with how they treated him since they drafted him. I'd just like to see McNabb be treated with the respect he deserves. Hopefully, we don't draft a QB in the first two rounds and use whatever picks we have on guys who can protect McNabb (and whomever eventually replaces him). Just my opinion though.

Barring an injury (again), you've got McNabb for at least 4, maybe 5 years. The FO knows that and are already working out a new contract.

We are now set at QB. No need to draft one now. What we need is O-line, and a new young RB to replace Portis, so they can trade him too....

i agree with you on McNabb being the guy for 4-5 years... but only if we protect him. If a great QB prospect comes out in 2011 and falls to us in the first round, then i'd be OK with us drafting him, but in my opinion we don't really need to seriously worry about looking for another QB until 2012 or 2013..

This late in the game it might be tough to rearrange these guys schedules too. I would imagine these prospects have had their visits and travel schedules all lined up weeks ago.

i wouldnt say the answer is apparent. if the best offer we get for campbell is a 5th round pick, i think we'd keep him as a backup and let him walk next year. i'm sure we'd get atleast a 4th-5th round compensatory pick in 2012 when Campbell signed on as a starter for another NFL team in 2011.

Agreed, the door is still open for him to stay depending on what sort of pick someone offers. We're not going to just give him away.

In the end I think someone will still have a need at QB after the draft and offer up a 3rd or 4th in 2011 and we'll be done with it.

I think you're being more realistic in your expectations than I am, but I think we could get a 2010 3rd rounder from the Raiders. If the Bills take Clausen, I think theres a chance we could get a 3rd rounder from the 49ers as well.

Ideally, i'd love to see us trade Campbell to the Bills for Whitner.

Yeah who knows. The advantage of the extended draft this year is I think we'll see more trades as teams will have more time to mull over their options. So he very well could be traded during the draft for a current pick. We'll see.
