Re: Draft News for the Warpath
This would be very nice. I think the Carriker deal was a nice deal as well, but I do not like how we have again managed to widdle away our picks for the win now approach talked about in the Carriker thread. Bottom line is we need more picks!!!!!
I forget who posted it, but credit to the Warpath member who legitimately listed out our picks: 1-? 2-McNabb, not a win now only mentality, certainly seems like they want him for 3 yrs (no extension aside) 3-Jarmon, good to very good supplemental pickup last year before he got hurt, also on VC's watch 4- ? 5-?+Carriker 6:vomit: 7-? so really, even though it's a bummer to only have 1 pick in a deep draft, I don't think saying win now mentality caused us to be short picks is accurate |
according to multiple sources, the skins are pushing hard to trade up and acquire bradford. evidently mcnabb is going to be a one year rental
other than the nfl fanhouse article who's still pushing this? |

So far the press that has said Allen & Shanny love to keep everyone guessing are right on. And they've done a great job of keeping things under wraps. No one saw the McNabb deal coming. |

The first link references the 2nd link and the 2nd link's most concrete line says:"One of the sources said that Washington was the only team still in the mix to trade for Bradford"

Maybe they'll package Haynesworth and Rocky along with the 4th pick? Just speculating?

What I dont get is what some Rams beat writer allegedly said on ESPN - He used the analogy of a guy going into buy a suit (Bradford) and can't make his mind up so while he's waiting they get him to buy a tie(Carriker). How can the team's beat writer be dumb enough to not know we've been pursuing Carriker for a while. I don't think any teams beat writers have the slightest clue of whats going on. What about this scenario -- Redskins show everyone they are not bluffing and pick Clausen. Then you've got Cleveland, Buffalo and possibly Oakland who suddenly become trade partners to whom we can send Clausen for Okung/Williams and picks? |

Are we going to have an official draft thread in the main forum or in here?

Then at 4, we are able to trade down because a team definitely wants Bradford at that point, and we are more pick hungry/willing to deal! I would find that kind of funny |

I'd love to have the kid, his play is great and it's nice hearing him talk about his visit and how he models his game after 21. If we do that we need to figure out something with the line though definitely. What are we doing to get the pick at the top of the 2nd? |

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Damn Berry? I want to get some of whatever KS is on. I still dont see how our Oline is good.
I would be upset if we got Berry, but not as much as if we got a QB. |

Cowboys front runners for Jared Gaither apparently

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I wouldn't hate the Berry pick at all, just as long as we've got plans to get a quality LT somewhere, somehow, which I'm sure we do.

Can you say Flozell. |
Can you say Flozell.
Still a possibility, but I think a remote one. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I am fine with Berry over the OT. We need to pick the best player on the board that can help us the most for the next 10 years not just the guy we need the most 4 months from now.
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
According to the evil news media...Berry is possibly the most complete pick in the draft and I've even read that some consider him the best player in the draft, the only knock on him being that he is a safety and no one wants to pay #1 pick money to a safety. Would he be a quality addition to our team? Sure, do we desperately need a quality addition elsewhere in the lineup? Oh yeah...
But yeah, I essentially agree with Matty... |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
a) Skins pick Berry
b) Skins package Landry in a trade for Jammal Brown Poof. Upgrade at FS and LT. |

Master of the Obvious quote of the day: If the Boyz get Gaither and we end up with Flozell or Levi that is not a good thing... I cringe everytime I think about our current starting o-line. I hope that I can have a celebratory beverage tonight... |

Yeah, you'd have to have the second part all worked out before you pulled the trigger on the first part. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
TK on extremeskins says the skins are waiting for one thing to happen for 'trick the skins have up their sleeve' (per Schefter) to work. I'm thinking the one thing is Jamaal Brown signing his RFA tender. If he does, i think one of the two scenarios will happen, based on tidbits Smoot has shared and my own crazy theorizing:
Scenario 1: Bradford - Jamaal Brown and the Saints 2nd round pick to the Skins for Landry, McIntosh, and Haynesworth. - Redskins send #4, the Saints 2nd, and Andre Carter to the Rams for the #1 overall pick, which they use to select Sam Bradford - Redskins trade Donovan McNabb to the Raiders for their 2nd round pick and LB Kirk Morrison - Redskins sign Flozell Adams Scenario 2 - Berry - Jamaal Brown and the Saints 2nd round pick to the Skins for Landry, McIntosh, and Haynesworth. - Redskins select Eric Berry - Redskins sign Flozell Adams Personally, I hope we keep Landry. The dude's bulked up so much he could play ILB full-time if he adds a few more points. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Cowboys front runners for Jared Gaither apparently
I was still hoping there was some way we could swing that trade. The Cowboys are the last place I want him to go. Especially with the speculation about Flozell. That would be a nightmare. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
If the Redskins trade Landry, McIntosh, and Haynesworth for Brown and the Saints' second, I will lose a great deal of faith in this new front office. Haynesworth for Brown and the Saints' second would be a fair deal for both teams -- you're talking about arguably the best defensive player in the game whom you're getting cheap for pro bowl OT and a second. Even Steven. No need to throw in McIntosh and Landry.

I completely with you...those trades above are absolute garbage. Just keep the 4th and take a franchise LT. They are downgrading Albert, Rocky and Landry waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much in those scenarios. |

Yeah that's a bit much. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
If we could acquire a stopgap for one year at OT, I wouldn't be against drafting Berry. Landry definitely played his best ball as a rookie when he was teamed with Sean Taylor. Perhaps he could return to form teamed with Berry, then we could address long-term OT need in next year's FA and draft. I'm not entirely sold that Okung or Trent Williams are worthy of #4 overall, but the more I read about Berry, the more intrigued I've become - he looks like the surest bet for multiple Pro-Bowl stardom.

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
After hearing Condon say, that he's been down this road before with Eli Manning, reffering to the draft which he didn't want to go to sunny San Diego, and went to New York. We could still get Bradford, should he fall or if the Rams trade down...
