Simple fact of the matter is this. All starting QBs in the NFL with the last name beginning with the letter B have at least one Super Bowl ring. So we need to start either Brennan or Bartel and we're set!
I like that.

Grossman: too distracted by his sexiness
Brennan: angers coaches by changing training camp water into wine
McNabb: has shown weaknesses on the field and lost games

Bartel, on the other hand, has never shown a single weakness in a real NFL game. He also has never lost a real NFL game - he's undefeated! Obviously, Bartel should start. Join the Bartel Bandwagon today!

Sure and Bradford will likely start as well. But right now the only definite starters (barring some surprise) are Brady and Brees

I am sick of this. No way he was right to punch anyone. With that said, he deserves the chance he is getting. Lets stop trying to decide if it was OK to knock someone out, at the end of a football game.

It was after a game when emotions are running high. Big deal. You simply don't get in a guy's face and talk shit after a loss. Blount should've got a one game suspension and that's it. The media made too big a deal out of it.

Student athletes are held to higher standards, and if he's going to be an NFL player he should be ready to expect worst from fans and be able to restraint himself. Granted, that doesn't give that moron that taunted him the right to do so, but Blount was the one that threw the punch and he suffered the consequences. Goodell would crucify this kid if he were to pull the same shit in the NFL.

This guy has the potential to be somewhat of a steal, for real...

Being from the Norfolk area, I remember how highly touted he was out of Granby high school. He got in trouble at Penn State and ended up at Norfolk State where he put up good numbers with not much talent throwing him the ball...

Great size/speed/athleticism... he has stayed out of trouble since exit from PSU... we'll see I guess... kind of disappointed we didn't get him.

03/28/2010 - PRO DAY RESULTS: With all the talk about 4.30-second 40-yard dashes, 40-inch vertical jumps and 10-foot broad jumps, it's easy to lose track of what constitutes an outstanding workout for a defensive tackle. Naturally, the standards are different for players hovering around 300 pounds. Given that, it's eye-catching what unheralded prospect Trey Jacobs (6-3 3/4, 295 pounds) was able to accomplish at Liberty's pro day. The athletic defensive tackle was the most notable of the seven prospects who worked out indoors on FieldTurf for representatives from three teams. He ran the 40-yard dash in 5.13 and 5.0 seconds, had a 36-inch vertical leap, 8-1 broad jump, a 4.61-second short shuttle, a 7.58-second three-cone drill and did 24 bench press repititions at 225 pounds. While those numbers won't put him in a position to rival the quickness, speed and agility of skill position players, they are more than good enough to indicate he has the physical attributes to handle offensive linemen. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Batch over Leftwich?

Monkeydad 04-28-2010 11:32 AM

Re: Undrafted Free Agents Signed

Definitely. They love him in Pittsburgh and he's actually quite effective when he has to fill in.

They picked back up Leftwich for a 7th...not exactly the kind of QB you want starting. If they thought he was capable of starting, even as a fill-in, he would not have been let go in the first place.

Dennis Dixon could even push for the starter job, but I'd expect it to be Batch, Dixon, and then Leftwich in Roethlisberger's absence. Then, I'd bet Leftwich would be more likely to be let go than Dixon who is in their long-term plans or Batch who they just signed for 2 more years.

Leftwich probably won't see the field in the regular season barring injuries.

Rainy Parade 04-28-2010 11:40 AM

Re: Undrafted Free Agents Signed

yea, Batch has been unlucky with injuries. i think he's 3-1 starting for Pitt. Dixon looked solid in that start at baltimore, a tall order. they shoulda/coulda won that game if they'd called a couple of safe QB bootleg option runs instead of risking that pass (INT, game over).

baltimore lucks out by getting their @Pitt game in week 4 while Ben is out.
they are 1-4 over last 2 years against pitt, the one win against Dixon.

Did you watch the game? Dude was punking him the whole time.. doing push-offs the pile, grinding guys into the ground, etc.. then did it again after the game. I've almost never seen anyone more worthy of getting it on the field.

Blount didn't help himself by continuing to wil' out after the incident, that was the bigger deal to me. As far as a cheap shot, bullshit, the guy turned him around then got caught with one. It wasn't that he didn't see it coming, he just didn't react in time.

Wow, i dont even see Batch making the final roster unless Pittsburg goes with 4 QBs while Rothlesberger is on suspension. Batch is 35 years old. The Steelers could release him and he wouldnt even get a sniff from another team. If The Steelers were confident in him, they wouldnt have traded for Leftwich. Dixon is a guy Tomlin likes. He and Leftwich will probably battle it out to be the #1 and #2 guys during Rothlisbergers suspension.

interesting point for sure....

but keep in mind, between injuries and years as a back up, his legs are much fresher with much lower miles than Donovan McNabb. in fact, i'd MUCH rather have him as the backup in washington than INT-machine Rex.

At 6'5" and 215 lbs and a 46" vertical leap, Danario Alexander has catapulted to the top of my wish list. I understand his injury history but you can't deny his 1st-2nd round talent when healthy. We would be risking nothin by signing him as an undrafted free agent. 113 catches, 1400+ yards and 14 TD's this year. Put up better numbers than Jeremy Maclin in the same offense with a less herald QB. If we take a chance on him, added to the 3 Olineman, The BEAST FB, and our new kick/punt returner, i would call this draft a COMPLETE success! lol
