Scouts, Inc. Report on him:

Baker saw action in just one game during his rookie season and accumulated no stats. He is massive and powerful but needs a lot of technique work and must show that he can play through blocks as well as shed the block in time to make the play when at the point of attack.

I don't know anything about him, but I have to say that I think Denver under Josh McD has not cared about talent as much as "my guy" so I would look at every player they cut... Also I wondered if this was a Shanahan pick.

No, Shanahan was dumped after the 2008-2009 season. Baker was a UDFA signed in the 2009 season.
Not actually a cut but a signing. Darnell Dockett signed a contract extension, I don't really know the terms but those wanting the local kid to come home next year, it's not happening
It is a four year extension that has him in a Cardinals Uni till 2015.

They reproted on it last night during the game.

Schefter also says it was for a 7th rd pick. Basically JJ didn't want us picking him up on waivers!

Wouldn't say that. They were just trying to get some value is all.

You could say that a 7th rounder is "camp fodder". But don't say it to Jay Ratliff.

Besides, Crayton was a 7th round pick anyway.

Ha ha. One teams #2 RB is another teams camp fodder. I guess when people said "Betts wouldn't crack some teams 53 roster" they were actually correct. Hmmm imagine that.

His best bet ... his agent contacts teams that have RB issues due to injuries. Good luck Betts.

Re: Other teams cuts - and the obvious should we get them question.

I have to say...when weighing the options between V.jackson or TJ who'syourmomma

I think I have to go with T.J. here...

Yes..TJ is older, but he wouldn't cost us a draft pick and he's relatively healthy as we speak..right? He's a pretty darn good possession receiver and could really give Mcnabb another good target.

V.jackson is the better player....I can't lie there...
But he's already being suspended for 3 or 4 games and has his 2nd DWI..a 3rd could be a full season or so...
he will also command a huge Contract compared to TJ and cost us what most believe a pretty good draft pick. Which is hard to guess at this point what that could be..A 2nd..a future 3rd? who knows?

So although I think jackson is the better player plus he's tall....

I think TJ would e the better fit here imo....and cost very little in comparison.

My vote goes to TJ...Go get him Shanny!

He's not gonna go to Cinci. Housh is a guy who wants the ball and with Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco there he wont get what he wants. Plus, Cinci wouldnt wanna hurt the development of Jordan Shipley and other young talented WRs. Unfortunately, we dont have the "young talented WRs" problem. He's def. a more cost effective solution to our current WR problem. Hard to say, he didnt look comfortable in the seahawks west coast offense but i would def take a chance on him.

Cincy has nowhere for him.. Ocho, T.O. and Shipley are locked into the top 3 spots, he's not going to be a #4 WR.

It will probably be between us and Minnesota.. He's better than any WR on our team other than Moss so I'd be 100% behind him coming to DC.

Re: Other teams cuts - and the obvious should we get them question.

What the hell! Guys if Shanny and Allen are going to build a long term winner you better get a core group of younger guys in here and keep letting them trickle in as you go. Getting TJ is a tad better than us signing Joey Galloway. We need to quit the older FA signing spree and try and switch gears and start using the draft as the main force in rebuilding a winner. It is funny, we urged Snyder to bring in a GM to take over with a proven new HC and we are pining for the same team buildling philosophy that brought us to the bottom rungs of the NFL ladder. Where's the change?

Yes I agree with this.

Re: Other teams cuts - and the obvious should we get them question.

TJ would be a good pickup, but like I said above, we need to try and secure guys to be herre for the long haul and can develop into the next Clark, Monk, or Saunders. Heck, even a Henry Ellard would be great.

artmonkforhallofamein07 09-03-2010 07:41 PM

Re: Other teams cuts - and the obvious should we get them question.

I agree gus, but at the same time we have some youth at WR, but DT does not impress and Banks cannot hold onto the damn ball.

So:

Moss, TJ, Armstrong, Austin, Galloway, and DT if we keep 6.

Not so bad... youth and experience. No picks given up everyone is happy :)

Is there a draft Sunday? If not, then what the harm in signing a productive player in a position of extreme need? I get the 'draft' but the Saints won last year with 3 of their most productive players coming from someone else's 'draft'. There are multiple ways to build a winning team, one of them is picking up good available players. It's amazing how single minded some fans are.

GusFrerotte 09-03-2010 07:53 PM

Re: Other teams cuts - and the obvious should we get them question.

My point is that why do we keep signing old guys if we are trying to get a decent WR corp built around an aging Moss? This year we aren't going anywhere Pain. We might make the Wildcard, but realistically we have zero shot at the title. Do we sign TJ for a one year deal? If so then that is cool, but we don't need another aging WR for a multi year contract. Bring in young studs, play them and in a few years most of them should shine. We will not be SB bound til 2012 at the earliest, so why bring in an older guy that won't be around then, when you can groom a young WR that will peak at the right time?

Oh, bring in young studs, why didn't I think of that? Of course there's a hope that works out (ex. Kelly, Thomas) but when it doesn't then you need to supplement to help you win games. Bringing in Housh on a 2 year deal wouldn't have any negative impact on the teams fortunes.
