:food-smil Thanks! and another tidbit: granthpaulsen Heard same thing. RT @RedskinsInsider Things "look good" for Roydell Williams, accoding to a league source. half a minute ago via web I didn't think Williams would have a shot. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Wow... please o please, let this guy be dropped for a guy we sign. Williams dropped many passes in the preseason and really had nothing to contribute. he was covered most of the preseason by others teams 2s or 3s. That will not work.
Well with the updated list we only have 7 more to go. BTW we are probably 2 hours and 15 minutes away from finding out where VJ will play this season. |

Brandon Banks, Devin Thomas make the cut As more names continued to creep out as to which players did not crack the Redskins' 53-man roster, the news might stand more with some of the players who did make the team. Undrafted free agent wide receiver Brandon Banks made the final roster, a league source confirmed. The Free Lance-Star and 106.7 The Fan originally reported that the undersized returner had made the team, proving that Banks's speed and big-play ability outweighed the risks of some of the shaky moments he had in the preseason. Banks returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown in the Redskins' preseason opener but also fumbled three times, losing one. In the finale on Thursday against the Arizona Cardinals, Banks returned the opening kickoff 40 yards but later fumbled a punt. He recovered the fumble. Third-year wide receiver Devin Thomas also made the roster. In a text message to a Post reporter, Thomas wrote, "I'm good." Rookie G/C Erik Cook was released, according to a league source, but has also been targeted as a practice-squad candidate should he clear waivers. Darrel Young, who originally signed with the Redskins in 2009 as a linebacker, has made the team as a fullback, according to 106.7 The Fan, which also reported that rookie safety Anderson Russell was released but could join the practice squad. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Tryon had enough value to be traded to a legitimate SB contender? Who would have thought?
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Watch Tryon goes to Indy and a pull a Ryan Clark.
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
I really like Young making the squad. He did some really good stuff in the preseason and maybe a long term solution to FB after Sellers retires.

From what I saw of Williams in the preseason (I missed the Jets game) he had plenty of dropped balls and otherwise looked unremarkable. I figured he'd get cut. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
The Raiders are fools...
Have they gone insane. They just cut Colt Brennan. |
'Tripp is keeping 4 CBs likely? Barnes, Buchanon, and Tryon for that matter, are (were) marginal at best. I know having 4 Ss could be a "reason" but, they aren't versatile enough IMO. What are your thoughts?
The only reason you'd need five active corners is if one is there exclusively on special teams. There's no way we can get through the season with only four corners, but as a week one decision, it's easy. We would just have no inactives at the position.

Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
okay, so I don't see any chance that Bryant or VJAX coming here. Maybe Housh..big if.
But my question is, if we don't land that extra wideout we're targeting from the waivers wire, whomever that is, can we call Austin back up from the PS? |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
So as of now... WR.
Moss, Galloway, Banks, Thomas, Armstrong, and Williams (got to get rid of him) |

HOW DID HE NOT BEAT OUT WILLIAMS???? I am so confused over this. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
That said, I wouldn't be shocked to see Austin back on the 53 come Dallas.

Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Looks like Jarmon made it. Glad to hear this. He looked good in preseason:

Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Pretty sure it was Bobby Wade with most of the drops, not Roydell Williams.
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Westbrook makes it...
JReidPost Redskins sources: Special-teams standout Byron Westbrook is the fifth corner. Apparently, reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated. |
I don't know, Hous may have some left in the tank.
Clayton had a good, not great, rookie season. Since then this guy hasn't bust a grape. I don't think he's had one season since over 500 yds receiving. Bryant, really?
Houshman sounds like he'll be a redskin. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
I don't even know what to say about BW. I am just really amazed, especially after the Arizona game. Seemed like he whiffed on a bunch of tackles. That said I know he has ST talent
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
So where are we as of now? 6 or 7 left to cut.

The only reason i see keeping him over Tryon would be his special teams work. He was picked on consistently and successfully in the Cards game by 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Qbs and WRs. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
If we land TJ, I will feel much better about our WR corps. There is most definately a piece missing.
TJ gives us that big body to cover the middle as well as another Redzone threat, one on the outside and not lined up at TE. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Richard Bartel... gone
|

Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Team going well out of its way to try to keep Clint Oldenburg and Will Montgomery. Montgomery should make team, Oldenburg to IR.
Kicker: neither can block. |

6 My guess is Wade, Bryant or Green, Bartel, Holliday, Oldenburg, Henson goes to IR, Gatewood. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Bartel has been cut. I thought he played better than Beck...
CindyBoren RT @RedskinsInsider: League source confirms #Redskins have released quarterback Richard Bartel. |
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
lol... I saw in another thread Dirtbag had Henson listed on IR, but I have not been able to confirm it with a source on the net. Is this true?
With Oldenburg, and Henson (not confirmed) added to the IR list, that only leaves us with 2 more open spots on IR. |

Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Just extended beck so I knew bartel was gone.. And I would rather have Jackson than Housh but TJ is cheaper .. Either way we need help
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Does someone have the full list. I've seen names here and there, rumors and tweets and all that, but is there an official list out there that confirms who has been released?

no... it doesn't

Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
No Ruh, but you are only allowed 6 players on the IR list.
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
Thanks for the info. I'm curious to know what's up with Henson, other than he having surgery I haven't heard anything else.
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
I can't find anywhere that says there is a limit of six... do you have a link?

Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
It was posted in another thread... I believe the Injured players thread a couple of days ago. Smoot, I believe confirmed it.
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
I just don't think Galloway showed much. We already have McCardell, there's no need for a player-coach. I like Roydell Williams.
|
Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown
I cannot find a source to confirm that information though.
It may be bad info, but I would not be surprised if there as a limit. |
