I have no clue on how our d is going to contain him next week. None at all.
They won't contain him if they couldn't contain Sam Bradford |

When I looked at the schedule in the summer I actually thought the Eagles woul be 1-2 and the Skins would be 3-0 heading into that 10/3/10 matchup. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
In the next three games I am less scared of Vick and more scared of Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning. The next three games should be brutal for our reeling secondary.

WTF are your smoking? Rak is neutralized because the refs will always let the opposing players hold him. Bradford got away from the rest of the D-linemen, and he sure looked like he could have gotten away from Rak as well. Vick is more athletic than Bradford and he's shown that he can sling it now. Combine that with Jackson and Maclin, and we're ****ing ****ed. |

Haslett needs to step his game up, or Vick is gonna make us look like shit, I mean really bad. Not Bradford bad, which was raped-bad, but worst. |

Well I see all three of those QB's being a problem if Sam Bradford was a problem |

That was my basic point. I still don't find Vick as scary as Manning, though. But we're screwed facing all 3. |

Manning is not a threat to run and has a average oline, so you can go blitz like Grilliams did to him and hope for the best. Vick, you have to put a spy on him and keep contain, which makes it even more difficult to cover people. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
Vick has always been streaky.
On the other hand, Manning carves up people week after week without having to move around. As for Rodgers, he may not have Vick's mobility but he is more than mobile enough and deadly accurate. |

He's played well for three games and there's no reason to expect him to choke against us. Our defense is not much better than Jacksonville's or Detroit's. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
Do you think Haslett is smart enough to Blitz Vick on 3rd and 16?
Jags didn't blitz and the result was a 55 yd TD pass |

I am incredibly impressed with his improved pocket presense and touch passes. Andy Reid has done a great job coaching him up as a pocket passer. Of course Manning and Rodgers are great, but Vick is playing like a top 5 QB so far this year. |

But I thought teams studied film of their upoming opponents? The Jags never heard of Desean Jackson or Michael Vick? |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
Division matchups are different but I'm ashamed. I hate the idea of being afraid of a Mike Vick led passing attack. Back in 2006 that would have qualified as a bad joke. Now it's a terrifying reality.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Jags are probably too deficient in talent to handle the load. |

Hopefully we can fall back on, 'it's a division game so we'll play them tough no matter what' rational but after today it doesn't seem to encouraging. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
We are screwed. Man it sucks to be a skins fan.

Looking back, Vick would put together 3 or so games with passer ratings in the 100's. Then he would put together 3 or so games with passer ratings in the 40's. Two or three games are not enough to evaluate him. I'm not a Vick believer yet. |

Maybe. But I'm not going to ignore history in the meantime. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
We always play good in Philly. They really aren't that good. Funny thing is, if we win we are #1 in the East....lol

Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
looks like reid made the right move. vick is simply balling right now.

Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
Crap, here's what happened the last time Vick faced a Shanahan coached team.
NFL Game Center: Atlanta Falcons at Denver Broncos - 2004 Week 8 I know the irony of the narrators statements won't be lost on you guys. Remember this was 2004 when Vick was at his absolute peak. Opening line: "After being beaten like a mutt last week the Atlanta Falcons came into Denver...." And yes to make matters worse a pitbull is shown in this part of the video. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
I dont even want to watch this game. Our defense is garbage, we have a piss-poor offense, horrible running game, we are a last in the league team right now. The eagles will beat us as bad as the patriots did in 2007

Fat T.J Duckett was the runner up. Compare that with DeSean Jackson Jeremy Maclin LeSean McCoy It's going to be a long day. St. Louis spared us some embarassment because their deep threat (Avery) was injured. Philly won't. |

Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
It just looks like Vick is becoming the passer that he has the ability to be. He's got the tools, he just needed to right coaching and the right attitude, and he needed to learn how to be a pro. That means doing all the little things, film study, working on his mechanics and so forth. I think he's doing all those things now it shows. I think being around McNabb for a year also helped.

Now that he has his dog fighting out of the way maybe he has more time to work on those. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
I love everybody on this site but can we please give the "Michael Vick dog fighting" thing a rest??
The fact is, the man has paid his time for the crime he committed. I don't hear you guys complaining about all the players that have DUI, or domestic violence, or even players who have killed human beings as a result of their actions... Give it a rest.... |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
1st time I've replied in this thread...
Personally,I like the Campbell bashing thread much better. I have 4 dogs,so it's best for me not to give my opinion on a dog-killer. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
Like it or not Vick is going to be forever tied to dog fighting no matter what happens.
|
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
But why do people give animals more rights than humans?
You dont hear anybody crying about Ray Lewis or Donte Stallworth, who killed human beings, or even Pac Man Jones, who twice was involved in a shooting. Dog Fighting is inhumane and horrible, but nobody was lobbying for those other players to get lifetime bans... |

Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
Vick's on pace to have exactly 4000 yards by the end of the season. He's averaging 250yds a game.

Definitely won't last. He was never a good passer. He'll get <250 this week. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
From most of the highlights I've seen Vick has had plenty of time. Of course he can buy time if there's no one open.
How Haslett calls this game will be just as or more intriguing than McNabb's return to philly. I think Haslett will be on his game. After 3 games he's seen what this defense can and can't do. I look for him to drop more in coverage & run some delayed blitzes. We'll get burnt at least once by Vick - Jackson, but I have a feeling the D will have an otherwise big game. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
yeah, outside of jackson lighting us up for one long score, i dont know how this game is going to play out.
i think the skins will bring alot of effort and focus thoo. |
Re: Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback
We'll show up this week. We always seem to play down to and up to the competition. I hate that.
Our disaster of a team nearly beat New Orleans and San Diego late last year, but gave a bunch of teams their first win of the season in what should have been the cakewalk portion of the schedule. |
