When Abe Pollin employed Wes Unseld year after year after year as his head coach/general manager and the team repeatedly failed to make the playoffs and had a piss poor scouting dept and no presence in Europe, and Unseld even said I probably don't deserve this job; everyone was all "wow, Pollin is such a loyal guy good for him" Snyder employs Cerrato and it's all "racquetball butt buddies" Why? Because people just dont care in DC as much about the Wizards as they do the Redskins. I have Wizards season tix, I have been to hundreds more Wizards games than any other team. I don't carevabout them half as much as I do the Skins.
Wizards fans had a reason to tolerate Unseld, not Cerrato.

Re: Snyder Camp Upset!!
Well some things are simply not true, like the Herzog situation. Some things didn't start with Snyder, like the questionable waiting list.

But my point with some of the other stuff is McKenna's just piling stuff on to show what a terrible owner Snyder is, but failing to acknowledge what became of certain situations, what corrections occurred, and failing to acknowledge that in some cases other successful teams have done the same. If I was his editor I would have said just focus on some things and drill down on them. I mean I get it, he was putting together a list and to do that he count get too detailed but a recurring theme is Snyder never learns, but in several examples he did learn. You wouldn't know it from the article though.

I don't see in the lawsuit where specifically he's calling for McKenna to be fired, though I suspect he certainly would be if he is shown to have deliberately falsely accused Snyder of some of the more egregious (felony) issues here.

I have no idea what you're talking about with the Zorn, smith thing.
Certainly he could've gone more concentrated but his A-Z thing seems to be conducive to more than less, for better or worse. There are a lot of things where he "learned" or at least "acknowledged" that a lot of the public wasn't privy to. Some of it doesn't even matter; not everyone gets the excuse of "well he learned" or "well he apologized" or similar, to me that doesn't exactly cross-out the wrongdoing. In the lawsuit I doubt that it would actually include a statement calling for the termination of his employment, I would think that that would be covered more so by the paper recognizing the liability of keeping him under employ.

The Zorn/Smith thing.. I had never heard that Snyder forced Saunders into the Gibbs regime though it did strike me as eerie that Gibbs all of a sudden said I need someone else to call plays/run the offense. But looking back at the Sherman Smith/Jim Zorn debacle I could easily believe that Saunders was definitely a Snyder/Cerrato doing.

MTK 02-03-2011 12:36 PM

Re: Snyder Camp Upset!!

Snyder wouldn't have pushed anything on Gibbs, he has way too much respect for him to do that.

Gibbs wanted Saunders in here because he felt he was taking on too much of a workload and he didn't want to go down that path again, plus Gibbs felt his offense was dated and needed to be "modernized".

tryfuhl 02-03-2011 12:44 PM

Re: Snyder Camp Upset!!

That's what I heard at the time too. Even if it was Snyder's doing I wouldn't mind it, Saunders was the premier coordinator in the league. To me it's really a non-issue either way.

But while we're here, John Feinstein's view on the matter:

Once again Snyder makes a poor choice. Not only that the little punk filed it in New York. He will lose the lawsuit...no one is scared of his money and army of lawyers.

Man! This thread is really kicking up some old dirt! Fitting though, if this whole City Mag lawsuit goes forward there will be plenty more.

Re: Snyder Camp Upset!!

Hey guys. I was just smoking pot to calm me down from the many lines of blow I recently snorted and I was thinking, what if Snyder is the good guy here? What if this lawsuit is the most selfless act in the history of mankind. Snyder is sacrificing his newly minted public image to help a struggling paper and help prop up the career of a well respected reporter. I mean let's face it, the Washington City Paper doesn't exactly have a huge reader base. Yet because of this article people are suddenly flocking to the paper in droves to see what all the fuss is about. This is amazing. Snyder is truly amazing.

So many Jewish sports owners in this country, not many are as despised or stupid as Snyder. I don't beleive anti-sematic is appropriate for the bellow image but then again the audience in NY might be more receptive. Plus, when did it become a crime to be anti-Semitic with images? Someone tell Snyder this ain't Germany!

Looks like they forgot to draw the fangs.

Feinstein's never had much good to say about the danny, but he backs up his work for the most part w/solid info. This is pretty harsh, he's basically saying Snyder is a bad person & always has been. This article is more personal than the City mag one - maybe danny will sue Feinstein too!

Re: Snyder Camp Upset!!

Dan Snyder is a first class moron. The guy is hated for a reason. He's a prick, a bully, and money fiend that will suck the energy and life out of a organization all for a measly buck. He is going to fail miserably on this lawsuit, and it's just going to spurn yet more investigative work into his past since it'll all be brought up in the lawsuit. Skeletons in the closet he had wished remained closed.

Reading David Donovan's letter to the paper, it wreaked of a school yard bully trying to intimidate the company into doing their will or suffer the consequences. Just read the parts talking about

https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/fbem/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=tirVQewp3Ws1eN6FGDX3Pg==&system=prod
"Mr. Snyder has more than sufficient means to protect his reputation and defend himself and his wife against your paper's concerted attempt at character assassination. We presume that defending such litigation would not be a rational strategy for an investment funds such as yours. Indeed, the cost of litigation would presumably quickly outstrip the assest value of the Washington City Paper."
This screams pure bully to me. I HAVE MORE MONEY THAN YOU SO YOU BETTER DO MY BIDDING OR ELSE!! David Donovan is a pure douche bag just like Dan Snyder so it's no wonder he's employed by him.

The actual lawsuit:
https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/fbem/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=tirVQewp3Wt/s2j+6wUb0A==&system=prod

I enjoyed the part where Danny uses the "race" card as well.
Can you imagine how you would react if you were vilified by anti-semantic caricature of you? I will not elborate on the views of the assistant director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Rabbi Cooper, regarding your paper's caricature of Mr. Snyder other than that he said that such images have been used to demean Jews since the Middle Ages and h found it to be extremely insulting, offensive, and disturbing.
Are you shitting me? This asshole has the audacity and nerve to play the race card? Here is a clue you ****ing dipshit. YOUR TEAM IS NAMED THE REDSKINS AND IT'S OFFENSIVE TO SOME NATIVE AMERICANS. ****ing hypocritical piece of shit.

USATODAY.com - Indians challenge use of 'Redskins' name

It's fine if this asshole offends other people, but good lord if somebody draws a picture of him depicting him as a devil then it must be racially motivated. The irony and hypocrisy in him is laughable at best.

Also, let's take a look at some other notable people with horn scribble on their picture.

This really is a bad move by Snyder and the image of The Washington Redskins. As others have suggested, Dan should just walked away from this and wait his time to do whatever he does to acquire more money.

The only thing that the Snyder camp can sue for is a caricature of Dan The Man in his native costume. I really think he will not win this one. He's a public figure and subject to ridicule and satire.

Just for the hell of it, I looked up synonyms of caricature and came up with these gems: burlesque, parody, travesty, satire, lampoon. If I represented The City Paper in this court challenge, I would have a field day with satire to support my client's caricature of the look-alike of Snyder to support my defense.

Dan Snyder wherever you go, your image will follow you. Move on!

What a colossal blunder.

This clown is sitting atop a powder keg of fan frustration and facing an army of journalists that despise him and this is his best play call?

Re: Snyder Camp Upset!!

Over the past few seasons, since Gibbs retired actually, there has been a string of incidents that have stirred fan/public reaction to more extreme levels; the smear campain on GW (if true), the potential hiring of Fassell, which so many fans adamantly opposed, the Zorn era w/the bingo caller, Pitt fans at fedex, etc.

By the end of 2009 the fans were showing so much displeasure that the danny had to do something. He responded by firing Vinny & bringing in Bruce Allen. Then Shanahan. Feinstein was right in that the 2010 season was about making over the skins starting w/danny boy himself. Well, now we have this & the reaction is going from bad to worse as was noted above.

My only hope is that this spurs more change w/in the danny, makes him step back & look at himself a bit. I think it's obvious that he pays a lot of attention to fan reaction when it comes to big issues. Will he pay attention to this?

skinsguy 02-03-2011 04:07 PM

Re: Snyder Camp Upset!!

If he's that sensitive to fan reaction, I think enough Redskins fans to fill every seat in Fed-Ex should show up to Redskins Park and demand that Danny Snyder sell the team. If this type of protest works in Egypt, should work at Redskins park? Right? ;-)
