Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
I think Beck is a quality backup but he deserves a shot at the number 1 spot. Right now with Rex a FA and DM leaving he is the guy LOL

I don't see anything wrong with having a rookie, Beck and Rex to camp; and having Rex and Beck compete for the # 1 spot

Yeah let Rex leave then let Beck, Dalton, and Nate Enderle from Idaho fight it out.

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
Palmer is my pick. He is a good QB that needs to be on a team without drama and seems to have a real plan in building a winner. Thechange ofscenery would do him a load of good. Kolb is my next choice, the VY. Smith had his shots and has proven a disappointment.

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
I wouldn't mind Palmer but he'd cost a 2nd atleast

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
I say give Beck a shot. He could be the next Trent Green or Brees.. We never know. Our QB of the future is coming from Oklahoma next year.

Honestly, I think our best bet if we're letting McNabb go is to let Rex or Beck play. The preseason/TC will likely be shortened, so lets use a QB who won't be behind in picking up a new system. They both know it already. Kyle has faith in Rex, Mike does in Beck. I think it's most likely one of them is our QB this season. |

Yuk! I selected Kevin Kolb. Not excited about Kolb or any of the other choices.

None of the above ..... and Kolb for sure, are you kidding me. Ask yourself this question "Has a Reed developed QB from Philly been successful anywhere else?" Please name one. No, I rest my case!
Keven Kolb ....... Buyer beware!:twocents: Oh and BTW I don't want him in Miami either, we've already road tested a Reed castoff, not no but hell no! |

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
Anyway as I said before the Vince Young has stirred up mixed feelings in me.
Pro Vince: He's a former top 5 pick with all the talent in the world, arm, mobility, height. He was clutch in college and seems to find ways to win even if they aren't pretty. He also opens up the running game like Vick did in Atlanta where teams had to respect him on play fakes. In fact part of the reason CJ28 was so succesful in Tenneesee was due to the fact that teams had to respect Young and protect the backside leaving cut back lanes for Johnson. He stands up for his teammates and in spite of his off field problems is still a good person. Kyle also knows a good bit about him after having been his teammate at Texas for a year and most likely following him closely after graduation. Young is also younger then Beck so with all things being equal the Skins would get 3 extra years out of Young. Anti Vince: Vince Young was rarely counted to take over games with his arm. Many of his games have him throwing for under 200 yards. His win-loss record is great but atrocious against playoff teams, not to mention the fact that Kerry Collins went 12-2 in 2008, so chances are the team won in spite of who was under Center. Also part of the off field problems Young had stemmed from problems with the coaching staff after being benched. Young certainly didn't throw teammates under the bus a la T.O but still created a media distraction. If you bring him on you have to be sure of his ability to beat out Beck and Grossman who are in years 2 and 3 of the Shanahan system. Young also has accuracy problems at times, a quality that cost McNabb dearly in 2010, though it should be noted that Young isn't nearly as bad as McNabb when it comes to accuracy. If the Redskins were to struggle with Beck and Grossman few would bat an eye at a QB change and Shanahan would have more freedom to play the hot hand. However if the Skins bring in Young and he plays bad enough to get benched then the media will have a field day. In the end I will trust the coaching staff. |

I think it is worth the risk bringing VY if he doesn't command a lot of money. Personally, I'd like to see Shanahan take a questionable character and make them work here, instead of going into a d*ck swinging fight with them. VY is a young QB and hopefully will be looking for a second chance. If Shanny can bring him here, set some rules and expectations regarding his character, and let him compete; I think it could work out. VY is talented, he just needs to be properly motivated. |

a) sign Vince Young off of the street without losing players or picks or b) trade Haynesworth for Orton |

Another view on VY-to-Redskins talk
Posted by Mike Florio on May 6, 2011, 5:23 PM EDT AP Earlier this afternoon, MDS pointed out an item from Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel regarding talk that Titans quarterback Vince Young could be destined for D.C. Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com pointed out in an e-mail to PFT that Redskins coach Mike Shanahan counts former Titans coach Jeff Fisher and former Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger among his closest friends. Neither Fisher nor Heimerdinger would be expected to endorse Young to Shanahan. That said, the biggest question for Shanahan is whether he has any better options. Between Young, John Beck, and Rex Grossman, we’d take Vince Young every time. |
Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
I'd take the flyer on Young. Either he responds really well to K. Shanahan or he doesn't.

I'll take Beck or Grossman any day of the week over Young. No matter how the Skins season ends up. If we have to pick up a third QB I'd prefer Chase Daniels who is not available so Smith or Bulger would get my vote. |

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll
What would be the attraction for bringing in VY? Does not Head Case trump better athletic skills?
I personally cannot think of any QB's that are head problems that have had any success. Michael Vick would be the closest and if you can believe the MV corner reporting......he is on the mend....but that is another matter. Build the line, give them some goto weapons, go with Beck or Rexy unless another....."realistic" improvement can be found. Draft the future next year.......... |
