If you actually see the CSN interview in context, it's not some grand declaration of division dominance.

I certainly would not want a Quarterback (or any player on the team for that matter) to say "gee I just hope we can avoid finishing dead last in the division, all those people who are picking against us are dead on!"

I don't see anything wrong with what he said either

This is hilarious -- Rex Grossman is trending on Twitter right now. LOL

Here's what some wrote: Rex Grossman named Redskins starter. S&P just downgraded the team from "NFL" to "ACC Conference"

I don't have an issue with it either. Anyone in their right mind knows that the notion of us winning the division is pretty silly, but what's he supposed to say? We have no shot? He'd get bashed even worse for that. So I have no problem whatsoever with his statement.

I guess we should get used to these ridiculous non-stories. Mike Florio and Jason LaCanfora must be going insane since there aren't any big stories they can use to bash the Redskins. The AH/McNabb circus is gone, we didn't trade any major draft picks for washed up veterans, and we didn't make any major free agent acquisition. Not having these type of distractions around is huge for team that is rebuilding and has a lot of young players.

Said Rex Grossman: "I wasn't trying to make some kind of profound statement. I just really believe in this team."

Nor did we draft a QB that probably long or short term wouldn't have been any better than the three we already have.

It's good however to scroll down this roster of Redskins and see so many players on the left side of thirty, hungry and eager to make a reputation for themselves. Likewise as important, (compared to years gone by) I see more players on this roster drafted by the Redskins, a factor I've noticed is not lost on those of which it has that special meaning. Not always, but more often than not, loyalty, commitment and dedication is a by-product of the players drafted by a team.

Nothing wrong with what he said. A QB needs such confidence. Rexy even got me fired up. Bring on the Giants so we can kick their butts!

Yea, our goal should be to win the East dammit. Good for Rex.

I don't see why this is a story. What team would want a QB who DOESN'T have an optimistic outlook for the team? Oh yeah, the Bears...

I wish he had said "We're going to win the East...but only if I'm starting" That would have been great for him to start some shit

But really it's a non-story. Been arguing that point with my colleagues. Mainly fellow Skins fans

As much as I like his confidence I would rather he concentrate on his game. Let your game do the talking.

Anyway, maybe I'm reading too much into it but from what he said I kind of feel like maybe he was implying that we're building a good team, not necessarily for this season but for the future. Who knows, who cares. I'm glad he's confident.

With McDummy and Haynesworthless out of town and the 3 ring circus gone, some writers are down in the dumps because they now have nothing to write about. No more big splashes. No more big trades. No more big names. Just acquiring blue collar guys and building the team the right way. Here's to continuing this trend and kudos to Rexxy for making a bold statement.

Yes, given that it's a shortened off-season he is wasting valuable time with unnecessary interviews. I am not interested in a popularity contest between him and Beck. STFU and play the god damn game. Does that compute?

We are all witness to a "clash of the titans" QB battle.

Rex Grossman aka Butterball aka Sexy Rexy

VS

John Beck aka Who The Heck is This Clown

It's quite simply the most intense battle of prolific QB's in the history of the NFL.

WE ARE SO FREAKIN LUCKY THIS YEAR.

WOW!

He can talk all he wants but that won't win games. Like I said, let your game do the talking. No one needs to hear you talk about how the Skins will win the East only to see your sorry ass have a complete meltdown. Win first, talk second.

Isn't it funny though? I mean the Shanahan's are actually going about the QB situation the right way. Rather then break the bank with a new player or a sexy name they have two guys, (both highly regarded prospects at one time or another) who have sat and learned the system for at least one year.

Yet people are acting like this isn't John Skelton vs Max Hall in 2010. Don't get me wrong I'm as nervous as the QB situation as anyone else but the way they've gone about selecting and coaching their players up, at least on paper, is the right way to do it.

Not to mention the fact that the cap wasn't put at risk with the contracts of Beck and Grossman, nor did the Skins give up draft picks to acquire the players.
What is ridiculous is the career of Rex Grossman as NFL QB. Him talking shit furthers its ridiculousness.
Seriously, how is he "talking shit"? During an interview, one that probably took 3 minutes out of his day as he was walking off the practice field, he said he thinks the team is going to surprise people and the he's okay with being written off.
Are you really mad that he wasn't reading the playbook and taking mental reps as he was walking to the locker room. Do you get annoyed that the players waste so much time sleeping and eating too?

Re: Rex reporting for duty!

just saw John Buccigross and Mark Hughes (no idea) on ESPN literally laugh and mis quote Rex...i hate those little "jabs". they're reporting as if he guaranteed something, NO he thinks we have a shot. He's Rex Grossman not Jon Kitna!

Re: Rex reporting for duty!

Yeah, this hardly counts as shit talking. An off the cuff interview and he answered a straight forward question in an honest way. No biggie.

But raise your hand if you'd much rather hear this type of buzz coming from Redskins Park than Fat Al failing a wind sprint and Shanny's dogging him out?
