Re: Around The NFL week 2
Dunta's probably looking at a suspension too. I gave him the benefit of the doubt last year, but two years in a row and it looks almost exactly the same both times? Dude's gonna get hit hard with a big fine and probably a 1 game suspension as well.

Skins sit in 1st place in the NFC East!! We'll see how long it lasts, hopefully for the rest of the season.
|
So what was the deal with the server being busy? Scheduled maintenance or something?
In other news, hotlanta wins! Thanks Matt Ryan for proving me wrong, this plate of crow is delish. |
Re: Around The NFL week 2
Let's talk about that vaunted Philly D that they went out and spent all that money upgrading. Still gave up 35 points tonight. Yeah, about that. Should have saved some coin so you could get a real D coordinator instead of converting your OL coach to a DC. /facepalm That's exactly why I had them at 10-6.
Also, gave M. Vick a 100 million contract and he couldn't even make it past the second game without being injured. ...lol |

Don't jinx us! I'd rather be in the division lead at the end of week 17 than in week 2. |

I know. Sadly there's a lot of people, both white and black, that are flat out racist in Georgia. I saw white people give John Rocker many standing ovations the season after his famous SI interview. I've also heard many people who seem to care more about having a black QB then having a good QB. Heck some of them even gave Vick the same treatment the NAACP writer gave McNabb a while back during his time in Atlanta for trying to stay in the pocket and become a better passer instead of tucking and run when Mora brought in the WCO. Once even heard a black guy say "N-word need to stop tryin ta play like a damn kracka and run dat s**t." And again it works both ways, some people love Ryan simply because they like having a white QB. Granted these people are in the minority on both extremes, but it's still sad that theres enough of them left to make it an issue. |

Excellent point. Signing big name free agents is a staple of the Vincenzo Cerrato school of team building. @wilso: you'd think so but you never know. |

Well keep in mind Philly lost to a very good Atlanta team and were down to their third string QB during the 4th Quarter. Good news is Philly is still using the swiss cheese run defense so those 3 pro bowl corners will only cause so many problems. On the other hand, Trent Cole flat out destroyed Sam Baker tonight. And to think of how much heat we gave Silverback last week. |
Re: Around The NFL week 2
On a side note Vick couldn't help himself tonight when he was going to the locker room. He had to taunt the fans. I'm pretty sure some of them were out of line but Vick is suppose to be a changed man and one of the biggest benchmarks in his downfall was this moment. Not a smart move on his part.

Ah, good times. Except this time with faster backs and a QB that can throw above 50%. [YT]dRcg5JPfOhY[/YT] Still I don't think I've seen a game that intense or physical in a while (Eagles v Falcons). Sure I've seen games with lots of hype and I've seen games with big hits but My God they were killing each other tonight. Especially Matt Ryan with the weird splits impersonation a series after Vicks concussions. It's games like this that the rules were put in to protect QB's. |

You can definitely pound the rock on the Eagles. I'm sure they will see a heavy dose of Hightower and Helu when we meet. |

My oh my, Jason Campbell and Tony Romo are atop the TQBR rankings this week. And will Tom Brady keep this up? Wow.

Re: Around The NFL week 2
someone pointed out these wonderful stats or possibilities while boasting about Grossman....
Through two games, Rex Grossman has thrown for 596 yards, a 298 yards per game average. Do you know what that translates to over a 16 game season? I'll tell you, it's 4,768 yards. Do you know what the Skins all-time record is for passing yards? 4,109 in 1986 - Jay Schroder. Grossman is going to shatter that mark. I wonder how many fish are going to take the bait on this hook? Further, Grossman is on pace to throw 32 passing touchdowns this season. The Redskins old mark is 31 by Sonny Jurgensen in 1967, so that's another checkmark in the Grossman column! Stick to the announcer's booth Sonny, it's time for real men like Grossman to toss the pigskin.
|

It should be no surprise that racial attitudes are more prevalent in the south. The blacks wearing Vick's jersey could be construed as having an allegiance to Mick Vick based only on race, which is foolish. But much of, I believe, is symbolic of a cultural resentment, that has existed within the African-American community, towards our judicial system that pre-dates the civil rights era going all the way back to slavery. And then you have those that are Mick Vick fans through and through regardless. |

Since Tom Brady and Cam Newton already have their own threads, I thought I would keep this on this thread. Props to Ray Ray for reaching this milestone: 2,500 tackles.

Re: Around The NFL week 2
Yeah.. Now we face a rival in Dallas who will be missing a few players it looks like, and potentially Romo. If we come out with a win here, and go to the Rams the following week. We could be looking at 4-0 entering the BYE!!!!
Rams looked sloppy tonight. |

Huh? Why would I try to convince people that a picture of Vick in a Falcon uniform is current? I was using it to cite the fact that Vick on two different occasions has taunted the Atlanta fans in some, way, shape, or form. The picture was for the first incident the story was for the one that took place on Sunday Night. |

Well to be fair I saw a couple of black people wearing Matt Ryan jersey's today, but yeah that was kind of funny during the broadcast how all the people they showed on camera wearing Ryan jersey's were white and all the people wearing Vick jersey's were black. Sometimes though it's hard to tell who was wearing Vick jersey's because that was the only jersey they owned or if it was because they were a member of the "Atlanta Vicks." Don't get me wrong, the Atlanta area is a great place to live, some of the nicest, most hospitable people you'll ever meet. Just realize that every now and then you're going to see and hear things that make you scratch your head. lol. |
Re: Around The NFL week 2
I'd try not to look that far ahead Bucket.
It's nice and that would be a feat, but you can never just count wins like that until the game is played. |
