Re: The Official 2012 Senior Bowl Week Thread

Here the guys i liked from the SB practices:

QB Weeden-reminds me of Andy Dalton w/ a more classic throwing motion and a bit more velocty but not as athletic; really like the way the ball comes our of hands

Russell Wilson-always liked the lil fella

NT Ta'amu-Alameda

CB B.Boykin

SS Harrison Smith

FS George Iloka-need to see more him in cover situations

WR/KR/PR/RB Chirs Rainey

RB Chirs Polk

RB/FB Ganaway-I watched a lot of Baylor games and had no idea Ganaway was 6' 240

Cordy Glenn looks good, but is not the kind of guy shannys scheme asks for.

Markelle Martin, whom I've been very high on, is a beast still. Can tackle well, hit, and cover.

Juron Criner is doing great.

Haven't seen many north practices.

Chris Rainey has been doing great.

I like the TE from Lousiana Lafayette.

Janoris Jenkins is a beast.

So is the CB from Coastal Carolina and Lousiana Lafayette.
If push came to shove I would draft him.
He's probably a second rounder now, so I dunno. Unless we become the patriots over night and stock pile picks, I would use one of my many picks on him, but like we say at this board, this team has many holes to fill, but TE and OLB aren't one of them. Having said that, I would trade Cooley and Landry and see what I'd get for them. Probably a 2nd for Landry and a 4th for cooley.

No chance we'd get a 2nd for Landry, but it doesn't really matter because we can't trade an unrestricted free agent.

Several here have said that LL is a restricted FA. I asked this ? as I thought he'd be unrestricted, but apparently due to when he signed his deal & under the new CBA; he's restricted.

I don't see anyone giving up much more than a 4th for LL & 5th (maybe) for Cooley. Both of these guys have recent health issues. Cooley is worth more to us than anyone else. I'm not so sure that Landry is worth the trouble, if he wants to leave I'm sure they'll look to get what they can for him.

Franchise then trade? Doesn't happen. And if we do franchise him and then another team signs him to an offer sheet, they have to give us two 1st rounders, not to mention pay him a salary he's probably not worth.

Tandler works for the Skins right? Doesn't mean he's right, but I would think he would have that info correct more so than Wise. Anyway, there's been some confusion about whether Landry is RFA or UFA

The South team is super-well coached!

/things no one is thinking right now

The quarterback play in this game is going to get heavily criticized, but aside from the pocket struggles of Lindley and Wilson, I actually think the quarterback play has been one of the bright spots in this game. OL play, not so much.

Why wouldn't he be there early third? This is a deep WR draft class.
Why wouldn't he be there early third? This is a deep WR draft class.
Very true. It's the desperation for an effective passing game that's going to push those guys up though. If Adams is the 9th guy drafted at WR (and I think he'll go higher than that), that's still middle of the second round.

I liked him a LOT before the game... LOVE the guy now...

Re: The Official 2012 Senior Bowl Week Thread

o I hope we find a way to draft NT Alameda Ta'aamu

QBs

o I thought Foles flashed the best arm of the group and he ended a nice TD scoring drive with an Aikman-esque bang 8 to Criner(sp?) which i thought was the best throw of the night
-he's a big kid that doesn't have the sharperest footwork but he certainly has the arm talent and size

o I thought Wilson was easily the best playmaker of the group he handled a couple poor snaps, i mean ball hitting the ground bad, with the ease and poise and turned a diaster play into a positive the way we've seen Romo bail out one of Gurodes bad snaps
-showed the ability throw on the move and pick up yards with his feet which he needed to extend plays and convert 1st downs that resulted in a TD pass on the move
-he forced a ball late up the seam that got picked but otherwise had a good very good game

o I liked Weeden's overall package footwork, throwing motion, he flashed good arm strength, made a really nice throw on a wheel route to TE
-he had a wierd underthrew on a go route up the right sideline
-had a play where he lost his footing and probably shoulda either went down or threw the ball away or grounded it(grounding is not a penalty in the senior bowl) but instead made a poor decision kinda threw one up for grabs
-but the flashes of talent imo outwiegh the decision making in a all-bowl game
(for all the prospects)

o didn't really look at Lindley and Moore that close
o Cousins threw a nice crossing route (iirc)

Re: The Official 2012 Senior Bowl Week Thread

To me it looks like Foles has the most upside. He can really sling it. Yeah he needs to work on his footwork but so do a lot of QB's that come out of the draft. Weedon looked pretty good too outside of the awful INT he threw. He seems the most ready to play right away. Hopefully we'll draft one of them and we can w/out giving up draft picks.

Let's also remember that these guys only had a week to practice together so sloppy play is expected.

Re: The Official 2012 Senior Bowl Week Thread

Kirk Cousins convinced me that he's better than I give him credit for, I've followed him his whole career (huge Spartans fan) and one thing I've learned from him is that he's going to give you a chance to compete in every game. He has literally zero upside. He's a game manager, but a better one than Rex Grossman.

Re: The Official 2012 Senior Bowl Week Thread
When he[Russell Wilson] was asked to play in an NFL style offense it was a completely different story. From the pocket Wilson sprayed his passes around the field and missed an easy scoring opportunity early in the game when his throw was wide of the mark. He showed little in the way of pocket presence or the ability to sense the rush. Wilson is a tremendous athlete, but he needs a lot of work before he'll be an NFL-ready passer.
I'm surprised that Pauline listed Wilson as a 'Slider' and Cousins as a 'Riser' from the Senior Bowl.
I came away from his article like I watched a different game.

Was the difference between Wilson's and Cousins game wide enought for one to be listed as a 'slider' and one a 'riser'?

Wilson was 4-7 with 1 TD:
His 3 missed passes or as Pauline stated: 'sprayed his passes all over the field' only missed 3 passes

o 1 was a poor decision throwing where he didn't look off the safety and threw late down the seam that got picked

o another was a slant that was a little high but the receiver got his hands on

o he also missed on a corner route, but it looked more like a timing issue then an accuracy issue as he his throw hit the back pylon which is exactly where you want it but it got there before the receiver

o Wilson actually avoided some sacks and used his mobility and poise in the pocket to handle 2 horrible snaps that hit the turf

I saw a completely different performance from Wilson then Pauline.

Any chance the team could Trade back for more draft picks, grab one of the QBs and grab the other in the second round? I'd be much happier with them over Grossman and Beck.

The biggest problem is finding a team that wants to move up to your pick. NE has 2 first rounders, but they never trade UP. Same with Cincy. Cleveland has 2, but one is before us.

I hated the sack he took from Upshaw. He has to step up into the pocket in that situation. That is, if he wants to have sucess at the next level.
