Why worry about RG3 getting hurt? I mean, you gotta have other guys who can step in and play at every position.
Wait Dirtbag, so we shouldn't draft 5 all-pro offensive lineman, 2 1,000 yard receivers, a 1,000 yard rusher, and a 1,000 yard tight end before drafting a qb in the ALWAYS better class of next year?

Wait, I'm sorry I don't know what I was thinking. The nerve to believe that a QB with game breaking ability would help this team win games.
Actually no we're no longer on the RGIII bandwagon. We have determined that a tackle, a linebacker, and a 2nd round QB will have a bigger impact on this teams future then a blue chip QB.

We should do what makes sense.....
And not compromise the position of the team or the future of same for any reason.
BUILD the team.
Regardless of what the current popular thought on the boards may be "They" have a plan. Be it perfect or not, stick to it......
A lot of fans act like the guy is 38 years old. He can play until his late 30's. He could easily have a 8-10 year career if he's good enough. Everyone needs to remember that Weeden isn't a running back. If the front office thinks he's good enough then being 29 shouldn't really matter. I'd have no problem taking him in the 2nd round.
Yea people act like he'll come into the league with a walker or cane. What we need to be concerned with is can they make the throws, lead the WR, make decent decisions, limit the turn overs, and not cost us two yrs worth of top draft picks.

Well if we draft him and he gets hurt in the first few games because he's not big enoughor solid enough to take a hit from a safety then he's a worthless pick. How about simply drafting a QB with the size of Big Ben.

He's 6-2, 220

I wouldn't worry about him not being sturdy enough

I don't view him as a blue chip QB, he's more of a top flight QB with some issues that need to be worked out. Tannehill, Cousins, Weeden etc. are blue collar QB's.

The concensus is that his lower half of his body might not be able to with stand an NFL hit especially from a LB or Safety. I'm not worried about his bight and weight so much.

IMO Indy takes Orton trades 1st pick to Cleveland for there (2) 1st & 3rd & next yr 1st, Cleveland takes Luck, St. Lou drafts RGIII & we get Bradford.

I don't think Luck's Dad would allow him to go to such a bad franchise. Its simple, Lucks going to Indy, if not, he's coming here.

Many will want to compare Griffin to Cam Newton, but this isn't a fair assessment. Griffin is shorter and lacks the bulk that Newton has. [B]He has very thin legs and arms. Of recent? No. But our franchise has history, we have a better built team than they do, we are a better market, we are closer to his home in WV, he was born here in DC, Cleveland isn't appealing money wise either.

Should I change it to Mallett?

Seriously though, it's more a guess than any "inside info" but my guess is kind of rooted on other info. And anyway, I can't shake the feeling that we're going to make a run at Hoyer. I know that Mike Shanahan is a big fan. What I don't know is what Kyle thinks of him. But there are a lot of teams out there that really do believe very strongly in Hoyer

Why even limit ourselves to the NE roster for our QB sitch-e-ation?

EARTHQUAKE2689 02-20-2012 10:41 PM

Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going

I would by that argument if A) Griffin played like Cam which he doesn't and B) Griffin was a run first QB in college like Cam was which he wasn't. He's a pocket passer who has Mike Vick type speed and all of a sudden he's a scrambling QB. How many big hits did he take on in college? Does he take tackles head on like Cam and Luck do? At 6'2" 220lbs he isn't small but he's also not stupid. I'm sure he knows how and when to slide.

Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
Figured it was time for a new QB thread. Here are 8 FA QBs (including restricted) and 8 non-Redskins teams they've been associated with

Peyton Manning-Arizona Cardinals

Matt Flynn-Cleveland Browns

Drew Brees-New Orleans Saints

Brian Hoyer-New England Patriots

Chad Henne-New York Jets

Josh Johnson-Seattle Seahawks

Kyle Orton-St. Louis Rams

Jason Campbell-Chicago Bears
So in this scenario, what would happen to Kolb in AZ? I recall I did a similar projection with Manning to AZ, Kolb to Cleveland (reunited with former Philly coaches and front office personnel) and Flynn to Miami. Kolb is due a nice chunk of change in March and Skelton played well enough to be a primary backup.

So Campbell's days as a starter are done? I'd think he could contend for the starting job in Seattle, KC, Miami, Cleveland and be an experienced QB in waiting in Denver should the full season Tebow experiment go awry.
After the combine and workout the colts will take RGIII anyone wanna take me up on it?
I doubt it. Luck has a higher floor and is much less of an injury risk which after a year without Peyton is a huge selling point for the Colts. The question isn't weather RGIII is going to get injured but rather when.

I personally like Griffin more but if I was picking for the Colts I would take Luck. Luck is much more equipped to run a pro style offense in terms of routes and reading coverage out of a traditional NFL offense. He also has just as strong an arm as Griffin and while he's no where near the scrambler that Griffin is he can definitely move and pick up yards with his feet as well as create second chance opportunities.

There is no doubt that Baylor's offense is gimmicky and probably has some odd reads and adjustments which will factor against Griffin.

And theres no doubt Griffin can learn these things but with Luck it is less likely to be an issue.

I will say this though. Griffin is more likely to win rookie of the year then Luck even though Luck will be the better passer right out of the gate.
