Re: Return Of Lavar
man, I blink and theres another 30 posts that I have to go back and read on this thread...lol.
This thread reminds me of some of the first threads that I started as a member of this board. Almost all of which were about the canes, and which one we should draft. I definitly feel like I had more to say on that subject that this one |
Re: Return Of Lavar
And BigSKINBauer. You did say that LaVar would have won 3 games had he been playing for us. Don't deny it, just stop making claims you can't defend in a last ditch effort to defend your failing point.
Take your own advise and read the post, I never said it someother guy i did I was just telling my point saying that I DIDN"T SAY IT, someone else did so that u or offsiss would go all loco on me! GEEEEEEEZ!!! I don't check up 1 day and this! |
Re: Return Of Lavar
And who did we have at the time of Lavaars signning at linebacker? Jesse Armstead and Jermiah Trotter. We go rid of old dead wood that was costing us a ton of cash. We spent more cash on the linebackers Arrington 1st then Barrow and Washington. 2 of the 3 were out with injuries and we had back ups step up. They did not know the backups would play above themselves and they did not know that 2 years ago when they resigned Lavaar.
So the question remains would we be a better football team with Lavaar? Character, athletic ability, and dominance as a football player clearly wins. He is better then any other backer out there.
COULDN"T HAVE SAID BETTER MY SELF CRT3! |
Re: Return Of Lavar
trotter wasn't really a deadwood

No need to shout and Daseal I think you're confusing BigSKIN with Bertoskin: http://www.thewarpath.net/showpost.php?p=64400&postcount=93 |
Re: Return Of Lavar
Hey he can shout especially when he is praising me. THANKS!!!
Trotter was deadwood. Constantly out of position in this particular scheme that we ran with Lewis then Edwards. He consistenly missed tackles. In fact I would say that Armstead out performed Trotter in both years. In Philly they zone blitz alot more and Trotter seems to be always on the run blitz and pass blitz. |
Re: Return Of Lavar
Ah, you're right. Sorry Bigskinbauer. Got you confused with someone else.
We'll see how LaVar plays this year. I think we'll pick this discussion up again next year with a better barometer. |

its all good

Re: Return Of Lavar
He will improve an already EXCELLENT defense......if he had remained healthy we might have been the #1 instead of the #2 defense in the league................

He has either led or finished second on the Redskins in tackles from 2001-03 and has compiled 432 tackles (290 solo) in his five seasons in the league. He has 22.5 career sacks and in 2002 he posted 11, tops on the squad and NFL linebackers. Re: Return Of Lavar
Here's a bit more of an objective review of LaVar from Scouts Inc.
Name: LaVar Arrington Position: Linebacker Grade: 88 | Key Alert: None Comment: Arrington has gone to the Pro Bowl as a starter in each of the last three seasons and he is expected to make the transition from the strong-side to the weak-side this year. Attacks the line of scrimmage when reads run, possesses good bulk and has the lower body strength to hold his ground at the point of attack. Takes good angles to the ball, generally closes down cutback lanes and is fast enough to consistently chase plays down from behind. Explodes into tackles, plays with a mean streak and is a fierce hitter that will force some fumbles. Flashes good ball skills and is capable of providing the occasional big play. As a pass rusher, has the explosive first step to beat most offensive linemen of the snap, is fast enough to turn the corner and shows good closing speed. Arrington takes too many chances and he needs to play with more discipline but he is still one of the best in the league and he is almost unblockable when he plays within the scheme. He is a playmaker that is stout against the run, consistently forces quarterbacks to hurry decisions and can cover backs out of the backfield.
|

Thats my opinion. And if you base things on his actions then you haven't really watched him play. So at least we know you watched the whole season last year except for the 1st 3 games when Arrington played and I was devasting on one leg. Did you see what he did in the Tampa game when he was healthy?

We'll see if LaVar lives up to his contract next year. Everyone's said everything they can say on this top by page 15. =p

Re: Return Of Lavar
Sorry Offiss, I didnt know you were a scout.

Re: Return Of Lavar
I bet he didn't know you were a scout either!

Re: Return Of Lavar
I never claimed to be. To say Arrington is slightly above average is not an opinion, it's naivety.
|
Re: Return Of Lavar
How about we agree to disagree for now and let it go
|
Re: Return Of Lavar
How about they duke it out in a steel cage match and the winner takes on Michael Westbrook?
Seriously though, let's move on |

So, who died and told you that you have an eye for talent? Is that what you do for a living? Scout NFL players? |
Re: Return Of Lavar
Redskins_P - Lavar makes huge plays, but he also makes just as many bonehead plays where he over-runs. The question isn't his talent. It's the ratio of physical attributes to millions of dollars. You want to complain about our cap situation? Look straight to #56 who if we go to cap hell will be because of his bloated contract above any other player.

Daseal, I understand where you're coming from. But, I was just asking that question because none of us here are Pro Scouts. We're just fans with different opinions. I respect your opinion and Offiss's, but don't come in here acting like you know more than the next guy. We're all on the same boat. We're just fans. Know what I'm saying? |
Re: Return Of Lavar
Well - If we get rid of speculation this site would be renamed redskins.com and it would be boring. Offiss stated his opinion, and in my estimation, did a good job. We're just fans, but most of the people here (and I'm not including myself) really know their football. We all watch the skins games (often more than once) and we all observe things about them. The problem is - we aren't ever willing to admit the bad. LaVar is a great athlete no one disputes that, but I feel his contract is too big and for the way LeMarr Marshall was playing we could have dealt him and been a more complete team (that was till he got his ginormous contract.) Objectively we could probably field an all around better team without LaVar, in my opinion. He's exciting to watch, and the media latches onto his personallity. I'm just curious if with all his Redskins talk how willing he'll be to restructure again in 3 years.

I'm not talking about speculation. I'm talking about someone here claiming they know more than the other. And, of course this site would suck if we didn't speculate. I'm not touching this thread anymore to avoid any problems. Like I said, we're in this thing together. I think we can all agree that we disagree. And about Lavar restructuring in 3 years, you're right it would be interesting to see how much of a "real Redskin" he is by helping the teams salary cap. But that's another story for another day. Offiss, I respect your opinion and I hope Lavar can prove both you and Daseal wrong. If he doesn't, then I will let you guys know that you were right. For now, I'd rather focus on discussing our problems on offense than one player on defense. :biggthump Peace fellas. |
Re: Return Of Lavar
And hey, just think that we are only a week or two away from free agency!! Yay for speculation!:)

Re: Return Of Lavar
Yeah, Malcolm - you almost got some work done. Close call!

Re: Return Of Lavar
LOL... I actually did get some done recently. If you've noticed how sporatic my posts have been, you'll notice that because my office has been temporary moved for painting and my "online activities" are closely monitored. It didn't keep me from bringing the laptop around with me today though.
