Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
They say this is a 'weak' draft than most other years, particularly if you're drafting in the top half of the draft and looking for a QB. But in terms of depth and later round guys, this draft is strong with that. This is a great draft for us with DBs that all have NFL starter qualities going into the 4th round and OL and WRs that go into the 5th round of starter caliber players. Just look at some of the bios of these players just from the Pac 12 and in the senior bowl.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Can you imagine Ray-Ray Armstrong and Tyrann Mathieu both drafted by Redskins lol... ST & LL part 2 or a waste of our 6th round and 7th round picks.

Some notable names that the skins could be targeting: - Joseph Randle RB OKST (fast back the skins need) - Justin Pugh OT Syracuse (could fall to us at 54) - Levine Toilolo TE Stanford (6'7 and can block very well) - Josh Boyce WR TCU (reminds me of Hakeem Nicks; played with RG3 in high school) - Kwame Geathers NT UGA (6'6 355lb NT with two brothers in the NFL) - Jelani Jenkins LB Florida (WP All Met; lots of talent but can he stay healthy?) - Kevin Minter LB LSU (supposedly he's a lot better than Perry Riley was; 19 tackles 1 sack in his final bowl game) |

http://seniorbowl.com/files/release_Pac-12.pdf
It was a fine year to trade up then since the number one pick might be a tackle that is not as highly regarded as the best tackle from last year's draft... Kalil who went 4th. Great depth like you said though. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
My first impessions of this year's draft class:
1. It doesn't seem to be a good year to be drafting at the top of the draft. Some teams may want to trade down, but who wants to trade up? 2. I like the depth of this draft at positions where we could use some help such as RT, CB, and Safety. 3. There are some explosive offensive players who might slip due to their lack of size. Tavon Austin or Kenyon Barner could add another dimension to our offense. |

Tackles are starting to get a little thin because a lot of players that were going to be first round picks are returning to school which obviously means people will start rising that should have been second round picks but there is still a lot of depth everywhere. |

I should have mentioned ILB, as well. There seems to be a number of good prospects at that position. We could use more depth there. |

Lewan and Matthews returning just moves a lot of tackles up two potential slots from where those guys would have gone in the first. KI SKins Fan, your right about ILB. Lots of depth. Shayne Skov got a 5th year at Stanford so thats one potential guy gone, but still a strong class. |

anyone who filled out a mock draft last year, i dare you to go back and see how many spots you were off on each pick. winner gets a virtual high five

So Alabamas Eddie Lacy (RB), Dee Millner (CB) and DJ Fluker (RT) all declared for the draft today. Only negative is that none will fall to us or fit what we do.

I think that DT out of Utah will be. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if somebody reaches with a QB. |

Depends on what KC really needs. They need a bunch of offense but also that OLB from UGA is really good |

Chiefs need a QB, reports from Kansas City are that Albert might leave and actually might leave to San Diego, of course they might franchise him. If they lose him they have a void at Left Tackle, but their oline is pretty solid all around. WR, depends what Bowe does. Jackson and Dorsey were both first round picks, good ends not great though. NT - They just drafted Poe who was a project player. (Why they might not take Star from Utah). Hali, Houston, and D. Johnson are actual strengths at linebacker. Still need to replace the other. This depends on whether they stay at a 3-4. (which is why its unlikely they take Jarvis Jones) Brandon Flowers is better than most corners in the NFL, they need another corner. They need another safety with Eric Berry. Just depends who they let go and keep. and what they do with their defense, will they change? |

I doubt we'll see a LB go at #1 in quite some time. If Lavar Arrington couldn't get drafted at that spot, than nobody can to be honest with you. LA is probably one of the best prospects I've ever seen come out of college at the LB spot. Too bad his potential didn't match up to his career. :( OL/DL/QB are at a premium in the league. That's where the battles are truly won or lost. |

What Kansas City should do with the number one pick: Luke Joeckel.
What Kansas City will probably do with the number one pick: Geno Smith. How I want the Washington Redskins draft to look like: 2nd) Jordan Poyer CB, Oregon State 3rd) Tyrann Mathieu CB/SS, LSU 4th) Best OT available 5th) Tharold Simon CB, LSU 5th) Kevin Reddick ILB, North Carolina 6th) Ray Ray Armstrong FS/SS, Miami |

I mean the guy is a playmaker, if he is there in the 3rd take him, I am tempted to take him in the 2nd forget the character issues that people seem to let get blown out of proportion. All i can say is the man is a playmaker and I hope we take a chance on him. |

One thing you gotta understand about the NFL, playmakers win games, Dallas had a bunch of punks but nobody cared when they were winning. I'm with you I hope we draft him. Hell I'd take him in the 2nd |

I like to believe you win games with OL and DL, like the giants or the Patriots of old. But playmakers do help. Like Green Bay (but when healthy they have a great oline, especially when Rogers releases the ball on time). |

I ain't takin no Honey Badger in no 2nd. 4th at best. He ain't even a shutdownslot cb. Some of yall must be his smoking buddies with him.

He will run a bad 40, I am sure he will be available in later rounds. Too many other better corners. |
Why would badger run a bad 40? And actually he's a pretty good cover guy.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Why would badger run a bad 40? And actually he's a pretty good cover guy.
Not a bad 40, probably 4.5 plus though. Right now his latest numbers at LSU were a 4.52, but college 40 times are usually unreliable and make the player seem faster than he actually is. Still a 4.52 at 5'9 is not good for his draft stock. As far as man converage, against Alabama he got abused. They just threw it to anyone he was covering and got a completion. Agaist WVU Tavon Austin was the only WVU player who really just played great and Mathieu was on him for most of the game. The scouting report before he was kicked out of school was that the reason he would drop is because he lacks ideal size and NFL man-to-man skills. The way LSU used him would be the way you would have to use him in the NFL, a roamer who can make plays. He is not Jenkins from last year where he can play well in man coverage and help take away good receivers. Still worth a late round pick because he obviously is a good open field tackler and makes plays. He just is not a good "pure" corner. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
The RT we need to focus on ih the draft this year is Menelik Watson from Florida St. Dude is 6'6 320 and has the best feet in the draft, and get this, is projected to run a 4.7 40!! Holly crap this dude screams ZBS and might just be as much or more athletic than Trent. He is raw as a mug but has a crazy work ethic and will not only succeed but dominate at the next level. Id take him with our first pick but he might also be available in the 3rd. Here is a good link, i highly recomend you also click on the small "clips" icon right over his first paragraph.

Since I don't really follow college like I used to, any potential mid to late round legit playmakers we could use as a 3rd down back as a nice threat out of the backfield?

It would definitely be nice to have a Randall Cobb-type of player. Someone to use like we used Brandon Banks earlier in the year, but, you know, isn't Brandon Banks... |

I think there are some decent mid-to-late prospects for that role. Here are a few: Kenyon Barner (Ore) Joseph Randle (Ok St) Dennis Johnson (Ark) Chris Thompson (FSU) could probably be had late. He is a big play threat but he has had two very serious injuries in college (ACL in mid-season 2012). |
