Still just as bad. Hightower would be in Washington if he didnt blow out his knee. Helu would at the least be our off pace back which is basically a starter in the NFL.
Bucket did you just jump in to defend NC Skins because you typically love to rip me any chance you get or are you actually following the post? I am not and will not at any point sit here and say that the Redskins injury woes are greater than any other team who has ever won anything because Roy Helu is on the IR. Helu was not great last year imo. If you think he was that is fine. And no invoking Sean Taylors name because I am referencing current starters who are not playing on the team is not "just as bad" as "joking about his death. Not even close. |

Matty isn't being a smart ass either. I wasn't serious about counting Hightower, which is why he wasn't on that list I produced. Even with Helu off the list, it's still 7 starters. Garcon is pretty much done for. At this point, I'd rather go back talking about the merits of firing/keeping shanny. |
Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)
Helu was impressive last year and I was expecting bigger things for this year, unfortunately the Achilles injury screwed him up. If you guys think Helu is no good, you better have your head checked.

We could talk about Obama. That will make us both happy. :) I hope you are wrong about Garcon btw. I think even at 60 percent which could be 70-80 at some point that he has to be accounted for when on the field and that opens it up for Moss/ Robinson to have big games like Sunday. |

Only me and Matty referenced Helu to point out he was not going to probably start over Almo. This whole argument started and was centered around "starters" out for the year. I said to NC if you count Helu as a starter than you have to rethink your statement anout the Giants missing two starters last year. My problem with Helu is not potential it is durability. From the moment he was drafted his durability and ability to "carry the load" was a question mark. Would he be a better third down change of pace back than Royster - yes. Do i think he is on the "soft" side - yes. Sorry. |

I like all 3, including Royster. In order for Royster to be successful you have to give him the ball more, he needs to warm up before he gets going. |

I like Helu. Morris has been more impressive in his rookie year though. |

I agree 100 percent that they bought him back to fast the first time. Dont know enough about the injury or the severity of his in particular to know whether i would sit him at this point. If he is running those routes with any sort of crispness than let him draw attention. If Hank would become the wr i hoped he would have than it might not be necessary to have Garcon on the field - even as a decoy of sorts. Short week of rest for him too - maybe they limited his action because of the short week. Especially once we were up big? |

Morris runs harder and is more decisive, he's the ideal back for this offense. Helu would be perfect as a change of pace. Gotta stay healthy though as you say. |

Something not mentioned is the injuries combined with the cap hit. It's joy like we have BM a huge contract, how many other players could we have had if not for the cap hit.
We're operating as a small market team this year and next. No matter how you look at it, we won't have much depth for the rest of the year and all of next year. |
Well, good job good effort.

Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)
I can only help and laugh when I see this thread title.
I was watching the game yesterday and thought to myself "How soon until BW gets injured?" I hate being right sometimes. We rushed back a guy who nearly had a torn ACL before to play and IRONY, he completely tears the Other ACL! Wow. I'll say this, those 3ish quarters that BW played he looked like a very good SS. I remember reading here from people that went to training camp, that BW was awful and should be cut, but from what I saw of him, he looked beast. It was the eagles though...so we'll really know how good he is next year, and regardless of how great he looked, we should still sign/draft a SS. I'm still pumped for Dallas |
Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)
Looking at the latest injury report, I'm failing to see how we're any worse off than a number of teams. I guess there's a lot of shitty training staffs around.
The NFL Injury Report
Wait a minute...so injuries aren't the reason for our 4-6 record? (sarcasm) I kinda think we're worse off injury wise because for the most part our team lacks depth, but so do the Eagles and especially on the oline. That said, I still don't believe the injury to Garcon really matters. Moss and Davis are still our best downfield targets, so the loss of Davis mattered. But that's about it offensively unless you counted on Brown. Defensive injuries a made a big difference though. Yesterday proved that. |
Me and you had this same discussion a couple of weeks ago and i linked an article from the washington post for you to read. Evan Royster only has 13 carries this season for 48 yards(3.7 per rush). Either Mike Shanahan see Royster as unproductive or he's just been extremely impressive with Alfred Morris that Royster just hasn't gotten many opportunities. |
Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)
well, 1 int 2 PDs and 7 tackles in a half is huge. as is only playing 30 minutes of football in an entire season.
I guess te only good news is that tanard and meriweather will both be available next year, so we may be okay there. I'd still bring in another safety, 1-2 cbs and a RT though. |
Lol, this thread made for a good read on the crapper.

Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)
Merriweather being lost sucks but if you watched the Bears last night with Jason Campbell at QB and NOT Jay Cutler, losing a certain someone on our team would be waaaay worse. All I can say is that at some point these backups have to earn their pay and make plays, if not, we just can't keep them around next year. If Romo will just throw it up like he has done so far all year, maybe the Skins can get 2 or 3 picks and that might make the difference.

Some of the guys on that list are back, and the ones that are out for the season are backups. The starters that are out this Thursday that will hurt them are: Sean Lee -season Tyron Smith - they'll get back DeMarco Murray - they'll get back Kenyon Coleman - season (possibly Costa) Why are people comparing our injuries to others? Most of these injuries I see are the second string guys. I mean who really gives a **** if our 2nd string OT, WR, TE, LB goes down? Sure you need depth, but the drop off in talent from the starters to backups is generally great. Who you think is going to make a team fall of the map faster? Having your starters out or having your backups out? You think having Nield out is going to be a bigger impact than having Kerrigan out? Let me know when Dallas loses DeMarcus Ware, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Doug Free, Gerald Sensabaugh, Danny McCray,. That's essentially what we have lost and more. Hell, at least they'll get many of those starters not playing Thursday back, we won't. Not this season. **** these shitty injuries. Sean Lee was there London Fletcher. In on every tackle. QB of their defense. The guy who took his place, Bruce Carter said this about Cleveland's late TD play:
Bruce Carter: 9 guys in huddle late in game "wasn't a big issue." It was a "little communication problem...that can easily be corrected."
and this about RGIII
Bruce Carter said he has watched a little bit of film on Robert Griffin III today, said he hadn't really watched him before today.
He seems to be a good player, but SLee was a big hit for them. LT Tyron Smith on their line is like TW on ours. edit: took out a quote from BCarter - it applied to himself, not RGIII |
Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)
I feel terrible for the guy. From what I can gather from hearing what the players all say about him, he just loves to be on the field. This must be killing him.
Well hopefully we'll have him back by week 1 next year. If that's the case, and Orakpo and everyone else is healthy, we could be pretty good on d. |

Injuries have held this Redskins team back. Helu Jr., Meriweather, Garcon, Orakpo, Carriker, F. Davis! That six players right there that are capable of having a huge impact. And I might as well mention Tanard Jackson, who is suspended for the season. This team has been unfortunate when it comes to not having great players healthy and available.
