Re: NFC East Chances
I think Aldrick Robinson will have a big game. Something tells me that the Giants defense is not accounting for him. They're looking at Garcon, Hankerson, Moss, and Paulsen but not Robinson. There was a game at the Meadowlands in 1988 where Gary Clark had like 14-15 receptions for 255 yards in a loss to the NYG. If Robinson can receive for over 200 yards in receptions on Monday Night and take the focus off of Garcon and Moss that would be pretty nice. Add to the fact that Alfred Morris will run for over 1,000 yards in this game makes it all that more pleasing to want to watch.
only 200 yards? That's it? |
Re: NFC East Chances
I don't doubt RG3. As long as Robinson keeps catching wide open deep passes and Garcon stays healthy I don't see how the Giants secondary can match our offense. Moss is the secret number 1 receiver. Garcon is the receiver you must address. Can Antrelle Rolle run with Robinson?
Kenny Phillips is back, he didn't play last game. Against GB, they went with a 4-2-5 a lot more, but more of an agressive nickel. Not the soft nickel that allows teams to get dinked and dunked all the way down the field. However, the real question for the Skins is not their O. They can move the ball with anyone, have a well-balanced attack. Their issue is their D. Will they be able to prevent the Giants from putting up 30+? |

Your going to fry my brain if i try to figure that out. There are so many variables at work there - as division winner or as a wildcard. Guess that 60% has to do with the chances the Giants win 9 and than the other say five teams in the wc race too. Way to many variables and scenarios. Yep. Brain fried. |

Robinson can fly past the defense. He's dangerous in the slot and by the sidelines and more lethal in one on one coverage straight down the field or on a post pattern. The only corner that the NY Midgets have that I can see covering him is Corey Webster....maybe. |

I've been paying more attention to Webster ever since he intercepted Brett Farve in the NFC championship game back in 2007. Most of the time when the Giants are on defense, he's solid in coverage. Whether he can stay with Aldrick Robinson remains to be seen. |

Wasnt that throw by Favre almost an up for grabs throw? I dont really remember. Did Webster make a great play? The Giants front seven is so ****ing good every year that it probably makes their secondary seem more solid than it is. |

Ill advised Sounds more accurate. I remember thinking **** you favre you dumbass, Or something along those lines. |
Re: NFC East Chances
At any rate, Webster is their best corner. But Webster would be lined up across from Moss or Garcon. One of the NYG other CBs would be lining up across from Robinson when he gets into the game. It would surely be a mismatch.

Re: NFC East Chances
Good write up by DG, and right on the money for how we as fans feel. My friends and I have been saying all year that with Robert you are always waiting for something amazing and alway believe you can win. One guy has completely changed how I watch our games and has given me hope ( and change I can believe in )!
Awesome kid, also believe what he says in the article that if we win out we we are in. I believe in this team finally and look forward to many great years being led by our phenomenonal QB. Looking at the wildcard teams ahead of us there is a good chance they could all lose this weekend. The more I look at the 5 seed as well either the Pack or the Bears could fall back to the Pack. Also I believe that 10-6 will win the East by any of the three teams that have a numerical chance to finish with that record. |
I actually think 9-7 gets us in so even if we don't win Monday I believe we r still alive. Seattle , TB and Min all have tough games tomorrow. But I do think we win Monday.

Re: NFC East Chances
I predicted playoffs before the season started, then I had my doubts after watching the D (injuries, bad luck, coaching). After the last 2 games I'm being hopeful again but there's still some doubt in the back on my mind, if the skins win on Monday night those doubts will be erased.

I said 8-8 but I agree, a win Monday and I'll say playoffs |
Re: NFC East Chances
I was thinking 8-8 before the season SM, and it still very well may be. After the season began I honestly believed playoffs maybe a reality till the three game slide. If the team plays as well as they have the last two weeks for the next five then playoffs are a real possibility.
9-7 is ok but we need all the divisional games and only to lose to either cle and bal. They may be able to get a wildcard based on how well they played the NFC and particularly in the division making our NFC East record 5-1. Overall NFC record would be 8-4. |
Re: NFC East Chances
As a Redskins fan since 1972 I have seen our team highs and lows. I have seen every Super Bowl we have played in. I don't pretend to know what our final record will be at the end of this season or if we make the playoffs. I do know that we finally have a bona fide superstar QB in RGIII. This is the piece we have been missing since Joe Theisman. Yes Doug W. and Mark R. won super bowls but they were not franchise QB's. In this modern era of football yiu must have that guy under center. Regardless if we make the playoffs this season we are headed in the right direction. We must give Shanny a contract extention to keep this ship rolling and to allow RGIII to stay in the same system for years to come. HTTR

The defense really hasn't improved that much..we allowed the cowboys to get back into the game and played the poor eagles. We're the same defense, its just that our offense has gotten so much better that we've turned into a New England/New Orleans of sorts. Great offense, poor defense. Our offense essentially is now our defense. |

Their LB and secondary is pretty meh or average at best. They can do so much with their schemes due to the fact their front 4 can stop the run and get pressure on the QB on any given play. They really don't even need to blitz often with the talent they have on the DL. |

Using the generator, we have a chance if we beat NYG. Our remaining schedule is do-able. 1) NY Giants stumble & we win the division. Less likely, but possible since our schedule is easier than theirs - Dallas, Eagles, Cleveland on our sched. 2) If we don't win the divison, the only way to get in through the Wild Card race is to have Seattle lose 1-2 extra games down the stretch. |
Re: NFC East Chances
We've had some good luck with our teams losing. It would have been hard to have two weeks in a row where Seattle, Bucks, Saints and Vikings all lose. But we did have 7 out of 8 of those games go our way. Seattle's remaining schedule is so easy though.

Re: NFC East Chances
Time to root against Seattle, St. Louis and of course, Dallas. Seattle is the team we need to fall apart. I have a bad feeling that tie for STL could come back to hurt us, along with the loss to them. Thanks, replacement refs. You let that game turn into a one-sided WWE match with Fisher getting a free pass on anything he wanted to do. If all things were called by the book, or at least evenly, we would have won that game easily.
We should beat Dallas again. They're a bad team, I'm not worried about them. We should also own the tiebreakers against Tampa Bay, Minnesota, New Orleans since we beat them all, right? It's a fight for ONE open SC spot as I see it. The Bears are far from consistent but I think either them or Green Bay are locked in for the first WC spot. Those teams share common opponents in 3/4 of their remaining games, including a head-to-head match-up. I think we'll win 4 of the last 5 games. We'll win one of NJ or Baltimore, then sweep the Browns, Philly and clinch a wild card spot against Dallas in Week 17. 9-7 |
Re: NFC East Chances
If we make it to the playoffs and play in Seattle and lose; i will die!
Unless they somehow miraculously pass the 49ers in the division, they're not making the playoffs. We'll overtake them for the last spot. Either them or us are making it, not enough room for both teams. When we win tonight, we'll be right there in a traffic game at the #7 seed at 6-6 with Dallas, TB and Minnesota, just one win behind the 7-5 Seachickens. Minnesota has to play both GB and Chicago in the last month, along with Houston and STL. They'll be lucky to win more than one of those. Dallas will fall. We'll give them one of their late losses. It's us vs. Seattle basically...watching out for the Rams from behind thanks to one less loss thanks to their tie vs. SF. We can do this. It's going to come down to Wilson vs. Griffin and who can lead their teams to wins down the stretch. Re: NFC East Chances
Bottom line, Skins have to win out or at the least go 4-1 and then they need help. Tonight is really big. Everyone says either a win against the Giants or the Ravens and lose the other one and then win your last 3, but it never works out that way. This Giants game is SO much bigger than the Ravens game. Even if they win, they can't let a team like the Browns beat them either. If you want to be a playoff team, you have to act like it and beat those teams you are suppose to beat. Did the Skins get hot for two games and turn the corner? Or did they just beat two sub-500 teams in the Eagles and the Cowboys and they come back down to earth against a good team. We will find out tonight.
|
Re: NFC East Chances
I think the ravens are a easier opponent then the giants for us. Their defense is weak and Joe F. is just stinking up this year. Only guy that scares me in purple is Ray Rice.
