Was switching from station to station yesterday morning.Tuned into 1 station,1560 yahoo sports in Houston.Local guys had the day off so they were going with the national guy on Yahoo sports,I didnt catch his name so I looked up yahoo sports and their morning guy is Steve Czaban,so Im assuming it was him. What a fookin moron. He was talking about RG3,saying I dont get it,he never throws the ball over 7 yards, challenged audience to remember any memorable plays over 10 yards downfield, etc etc.I was like are you fkin kidding me? I called him and they said that what I was hearing had been recorded earlier that morning and they werent taking calls at that time.So Ive emailed him and I didnt insult him because I wanted him to read the email,I just threw out some stats and asked him to reeducate himself because he must have only watched the last Dallas game, which was by far Griffins worse game.
They havent updated the podcast yet,but theres a link to email him

I'd have to agree,I mean to say something like that is just a completely ignorant statement.I actually woke up in the middle of the night still pissed thinking about what a idiot this guy is

Well I guess I owe apology to Steve, apparently it wasn't him.Im shocked I just received reply from iPhone from a guy named Scott Lin saying theyve been on vacation since 12-21,so it must have been another moron filling in.I was shocked to get a reply, that someone was actually listening

Well Czabe has said similar stuff and is still a moron.

Linn is Czabe's producer if I remember right, for both ESPN 980 and Yahoo Sports

This is complete email conversation I received from him:

No worries, at all. Working as Steve's partner for 10+ years, I see my fair share of critical emails. Just always want to make sure that we were on the air during the time of the accusations. Also being based in DC, while we have certainly been critical of the Skins, we've bathed in RG3 exposure, are well versed in his season and appreciate his work.

May have been Peter Brown. Then again, not 100% sure as I've been trying to milk the last couple of days of sleeping in before we head back onto the studio tomorrow morning.

I do know, if it was Mr. Brown, that you weren't the only listener made upset enough to write. Seems like Peter miffed more than a few, if my inbox is any barometer.

Best,

Scott

You said you didnt get the big deal,RG3 never throws passes over 7 yards,no memorable plays where he throws over 10 yards in air, etc. How many games have you watched?Highlights? It sounded like you must have only watched the Dallas game, which was by a longshot his worse passing performance of the yr.Its true in that game he did not complete many downfield throws, but that was not the same RG3 thats been playing all yr.Go to youtube, watch his highlights,he has many memorable downfield throws.
Just in the first Dallas game 3 of his 4 tds were all over 30 yards downfield, and thats just a small sampling
Look at the ypa for RG3,Luck and Wilson.Everyone says how Luck throws the ball downfield so much, then why is RG3\'s ypa 8.14 while Lucks is 6.98? Please go back and reeducate yourself

After this weekend, I think it should go to Russel Wilson or Andrew Luck. RGIII had a abysmal day in terms of passing, and has been absent a full game while being knocked out of 2 others.

The fact this team is winning even in the absence of RGIII tells me that Alfred Morris should be in on the discussion of OROY. He's been the one constant this whole year.

This isn't meant to be any slight on RGIII.

I feel like the people who vote for ROY, will not vote for Russell because they were wrong about him. Take Kiper and McShay for example, they say that they would just barely vote for Andrew Luck. But who was their top guy coming out of the draft...Andrew Luck. I feel like these analysts and writers don't want to be "wrong" and that their arrogance is getting in the way.

Russell Wilson had a great year but it didn't end up in a SB victory. If he had taken Seattle that far then he would definitely get more money. But with only one playoff win I doubt if the Seahawks front office would be willing to give him a raise in pay.

Doesn't matter what he did this year, he can't get a new deal, per the link you just quoted

the new CBA prevents rookie contracts from being renegotiated until three of the mandatory four years have been completed. While Mort gives Cook an escape hatch by suggesting that the call may have been placed in jest, it’s a joke that the statement was even uttered to the Seahawks.

Can we please cut the "Bob" crap? It's annoying.

I think he's earned the respect to be called by his own name. Who are you mredskins, Osi Umemyiora?

Why would you refer to him by the name a Giants player used to mock him?

I listen to him every morning on the way to the office too.

You just have to have a sense of humor to listen to him. If you have tight panties and try to be "oh so politically-correct", then you'll be appalled. If you can laugh in life, it's entertaining.

Czaban absolutely LOVES RGIII, so I think someone had a premature accusation in that post.

Another reason I love listening to him...an actual Redskins fan on the radio (in Eagles/Steelers/Ravens country). The media loves to hate us,, so it's a treat to hear a fellow Skins fan with a microphone. Even since RGIII and all of the attention, they still try to twist everything and provoke made-up controversies with our team.

As for ROY - It has to be RGIII, Luck probably second because he turned his team around so much more than Wilson and had a lot less to work with, especially on defense.

A player who wins Rookie-of-the-Week that many times should be automatic for ROY.

It's reverse mocking. Griffin has had so many mocking names thrown at him. I like Bob, though, because it was so stupid of Osi to say, and he even had to retract it, so using it is all the more laughing at Osi, and a testament to Griffin's ultimate class in his handling of off field events.

RG3 is the better athlete, better leader, better quarterback, and with my owners hat on, much better for marketing/moneymaking purposes. Its a no brainer. If we would have known before we traded for RG3 his first year he would put up NFL MVP type numbers, I would have thrown another 1 and 2 in there. The value he brings to this team is immense, and maybe those other 2 first round picks ended up being guys like Javhid Best or Dan Williams, or some other 1st rounders that never showed up to play.......

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob

When I was listening to Wilson speak before our game in interviews...it sounds like he's just a walking book of sports cliches. Aside from his "separation" line that he kept repeating, he was just spouting off football cliche after football cliche. I was waiting for him to throw Madden's "the team that scores more points will probably win the game".

He is obviously an intelligent guy, he reads defenses as well as anyone in the game, but when he talks, he's like a player version of Mike Shanahan or Bill Belichick.

Overall, Griffin just seems better on any level than Wilson, Kaepernick and really, most QBs in the game. He's more athletic, more talented, a more accurate passer, a better runner, a leader late in games, classier, more entertaining to listen to and probably one of the hardest workers in terms of training. Hopefully this will also translate into more success.

After watching Kaepernick the last several weeks, I don't see how anyone can say RG3 is clearly better than Kaepernick. Let's take our RG3 glasses off for a minute. The guy just rushed for 180 yards and threw for 260. He's throwing down the field with authority and is as accurate as anyone in the NFL. He's doing everything RG3 did and then some.

And he has a healthy knee. That must count for something.

Monkeydad 01-22-2013 12:18 PM

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob

Give RGIII SF's offensive line, perhaps the best in football, and he could do more, especially against a swiss cheese defense like the Packers put on the field that game.

I still maintain that RGIII is a more accurate passer and when he decides to take off, when healthy, he's a more dangerous runner too. Think about early in the season, 76 yards at half speed, high-stepping and looking back at the helpless defenders. He has a deep ball that could be the most accurate in the game.

Colin K has a ton of talent, but he still looks a little raw at times. I've seen him make some bad throws. He does have more talent around him too. This is a team that went 13-3 with Alex Smith last year.

They're both going to be tops in the league for years, but at this point, I still give the edge to Griffin going by individual (not team) accomplishments.

30gut 01-23-2013 12:11 PM

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob

Obviously all 3 are good QBs, good leaders, good runners.

They're all very close in arm talent to my eye:

By arm I mean the combination of quickness of release, velocity, touch (deep ball) and accuracy.
In terms of pure velocity I would put Kaepernick is 1st. In terms of pure accuracy I would put Wilson is 1st Griff is very close because he can make some perfect passes but his ball location is inconsistent (often 'wild high'). Quick release I would put Griffin 1st. Touch(deep ball) tie between Griff & Russ.

Running ability: Griff is the most dynamic, he's a threat to score on any carry. Kaep isn't far behind though. Russell isn't as fast but he's more then useful enough to make the read-option plays work. Griffin is by far the most reckless. Kaep and Russ imo have far better running instincts and awareness about when, where and how to uneccesary hits.

Progression reading in a rhythm passing offense 3-5-7 step drop passing:
Russell Wilson is head and shoulders the best imo. Griff & Kaep operate schemes that far more run-action based and often result in simple half field/hi-lo reads.

capernick didnt even play the whole season lol... the team around him weather it be the line or the d or whatever is better than ours... they were an NFC championship team last year too... i dont see how he has improved them that much... besides, cap and wilson had our offense that we installed, put in for them.
