Ok sorry a consistent winning team
When you sign a huge contract that averages you 16.5 mil per year(and you are a wide receiver), you can't expect much talent around you or any to be brought in. You have to choose, do you want to win, or do you want to get paid. He (and Fitz) chose to get paid.

skinsfaninok 12-22-2012 11:18 PM

Congrats CJ

Topping Jerry Rice in any receiving category is no small task. Calvin Johnson is certainly one of the greatest wide receivers of all time and he's nowhere near his prime yet.

He's 27, how is he nowhere near his prime? This is his prime.

He'll be top 5 of all time when he's done
Sorry for Calvin Johnson he'll never play on a winning team
I feel sorry for no man who plays football for millions of dollars. If i was only five inches taller, 35 ponds heavier, 3 seconds faster in the 40, could catch, and was alot stronger i could have been a contender!

No 29 is his prime. He is always healthy.
Edit: NC you dont like to give credit where credit is due. Lol.

NFL prime years are 25-30 well that's what it says in madden.

In all fairness both teams were trending upward when they signed, also they could have jumped ship and signed elsewhere. Something to be said for loyalty.

Arizona made a huge blunder in acquiring their QB (Kolb) and Detroit has basically the same team from last year. I don't think you can solely pin these teams' loses on the WR contracts.

If i was starting a franchise tomorrow he would be my number one choice at wr. Look what he does on Detroit. Rice was great, but he had hall of famers all around him on both sides of the ball. I cant even imagind what CJ would have done on say SF in the 80's. my God.

skinsfaninok 12-23-2012 12:58 AM

He's the best by far right now. Aj Green is becoming that elite guy also though .

Totally. CJ reminds me of Barry Sanders. Plays on a not so great team and everyone keys on him yet he still gets it done.

Dear Giantone,
just to advise you that the bunch of Chokin' dogs you call a football team will be enjoying the holidays this season from the sofa rather than the field...
I did not want to......sully the Christmas thread with the harsh reality of it.

Calvin is just simply an amazing WR. He'll go down as one of the 3 best to ever play the position when its all said and done. He has track star speed, TE Height, RB weight and hands of glue. Great player, who will probably never win a super bowl.

He's a once in a decade type player. Fitz was really great also but now with no QB he's really falling far

I'm not to going to give anybody credit for a statement claiming a man 27 years old and 6 years into his pro career as "no where near his prime". He is in his prime, and in fact this will be his peak year. I'm willing to bet 100 dollars right here and now to back this claim up. He will not top these numbers (yardage) again. His prime will run to about 30 and then father time will kick in. With his ability, CJ is probably be very good until about 32.(providing no injuries)

Congrats to CJ though, but it's still all for nothing. Who cares if he gets 3,000 yards if his team still stinks. It seems to me the Lions are shooting for the wrong record. Instead of team record in wins and losses, they chose to pursue a individual record. It was evident by CJ's interview the other week when personnel on the team came to him about the record.

skinsfaninok 12-23-2012 01:40 PM

Dez Bryant damn

RedskinRat 12-23-2012 02:25 PM

No matter what the cowboys do, we go to the playoffs if they lose next week. Plus would you rather play Dallas pissed off after a loss or coming off a win?

Gtothearry 12-23-2012 04:13 PM

Could care less both teams will know they need the win. I just want Dallas to lose.

Gtothearry 12-23-2012 04:14 PM
