i am really on the fence on whether i want to own a gun or not.
right now we live in a very safe neighborhood and have no need for protection but . .
Most robberies/home invasions are going to occur in a better neighborhood rather than a poor one cos the better ones have the good stuff. Always own and use a handgun responsibly, make sure to drill with it to ensure you'll be on autopilot when the shit hits. Don't keep it in a safe, you don't have time to unlock a safe when the door gets kicked through. Don't buy into the liberal BS of 'gun nuts'. There are crazies in every sphere of life. Right now someone, somewhere is lubing a lifesize model of Eli Manning crafted from Edam cheese. Probably it's GiantOne. I have no proof, all the evidence is there thought, I'm sure. |

A police affidavit said Jon Andrew Meyer Jr. told investigators the gun went off accidentally June 27 at the Grants Pass apartment, the Grants Pass Daily Courier reported. Defence lawyer Gary Berlant adds Meyer had been assured the gun was not fully automatic. Meyer is being held on $250,000 bail on charges of manslaughter, assault and unlawful possession of a machine-gun. Authorities say he was responsible for the reckless burst of rifle fire that killed 5-year-old Alysa Bobbitt of Shady Cove and wounded apartment resident Karen Hancock. The girl and Hancock were upstairs in the same apartment as Meyer. The little girl and her mother were visiting friends there, but just what Meyer was doing in the apartment with the rifle was unclear. Court records say his fiancee had kicked him out of her place, getting a restraining order, and he listed his current residence as his sister's home. Meyer listed his occupation as lead bouncer at a Mexican restaurant, where he has worked for two years. Though his fiancee, Victoria Kohout, told authorities that Meyer was a "big teddy bear," her June 20 petition for the restraining order described him as an "unpredictable drug addict" who had threatened her with a gun, and threatened to burn down her house, slash her tires and break the windows on her car. The judge noted in the file that Meyer had four guns. Lori Nelson, who lives down the block, said she was startled by the noise of gunfire, and saw Meyer running down the driveway. Then she heard screaming and saw Danielle R. Wilson, Alyssa's mother, come outside holding the child in her arms. "She looked up at me and said, 'Please, help my baby," Nelson said. "Any loss of life is tragic, when a child looses their life it hit the community hard," said Sheriff Brian Duke of the Henderson County Sheriff's Department. " There was maybe an accidental discharge of the weapon from there we haven't really determined how the fire started but that is what State Bomb and Arson officials are looking into." Witnesses told investigators that the father, Terry York, 48, was inside the back room of his home showing a friend the AR-15 rifle when it accidentally fired. Family members told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that the gunfire immediately ignited a small fire inside of the home. |

Police in Dundee say the toddler was wandering around his own home when he stumbled upon the gun inside a case on the floor of an unlocked bedroom closet. The weapon, which belongs to Joshua Michael Greenhill, a family friend who had been living at Holbrook's two-story residence, was reportedly loaded, and had a bullet in the chamber. Three other children, including Holbrook's two other children and Greenhill's son, were inside the home when Damon accidentally shot himself in the head. This is the fault of the parents neglect. |

The victim, about 55 years old, was found dead in another apartment on the floor where she lived on East 187th Street in the Belmont section. Her identity has not yet been released. Investigators say she had been stabbed several times. "I feel bad because she was a real good person. I mean she didn't bother anybody. I mean I rarely saw but when I did, she was OK," said a neighbor, Roseann Delvalle, who added that the woman lived alone. Police found the victim's body in a pool of blood at about 5:45 Wednesday morning. Thanks to gun control, only criminals have guns for "shootings" in that neighborhood. Let's make sure fights between criminals and victims remain "fair" with just fisticuffs and knives. This message brought to you by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. |

At a time we bemoan that getting a picture ID is too large a hurdle for people to vote, it's not wrong to point out the hurdles required to get a gun for self defense contribute to cases where a victim dies because they lack the means to defend themselves. To put it another way: How did helping render this woman defenseless, help protect you against violent crime? Gun control advocates should take responsibility for disarming law-abiding people. Their policies failed this woman. |

Witnesses told police Cloninger had been seen waving his gun at people before the shooting, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. A resident at the apartment complex went outside after hearing the gunshot. The boy bleeding was profusely, and Cloninger was standing beside his silver pickup truck. The man asked whether Cloninger shot the boy, according to police reports. “Yes I shot that kid,” Cloninger told the witness, according to the arrest warrant. Maiden remains in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, according to Dallas police. Family friend and neighbor Dundra Moffit said Maiden is “doing fine.” |

Another logic fail on your part, giantone. Of course, everybody sane would call that shooters nuts. He's no longer "law abiding" as you put it, now is he? I personally don't have a problem with having a back ground checks for all gun purchases but I also don't think having them will stop a person who wants a gun from finding one illegally. The problem as I see it if we started doing back ground checks on all purchases and as I say it does not work then they will want other limitations put into place. So on and so on. |
