Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
So much for the 49ers being dominant.

Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
They're loosing 5-0 to Seattle in Seattle with 5 mins to go in the 2nd quarter. I'd hold off on that statement.
You know what I've never liked about our defense, is that we are predictable and show our play formation the whole time before the snap.
If you watch Pittsburghs defense, they move guys all over and around and overload players on different sides of the field. Our defense we just get set and stay in one position. Maybe I'm not describing well for you all but ill have to show screen shots to show and explain it better.
Nope, I know what you are talking about Cult. You are right, as our guys just setup like the offense and stay set no movement for the most part. Thing is this passing yardage explosion is something of a trend of the past 5 years with it getting ridiculous the past 2. Our problem is having two rooks back there for the most part, but some of these other defenses are solid units and they are getting shell shocked. To me I think it is because of the 3-4 defenses that are now the rage. I might be off the mark, but getting more pressure on the QB to throw it too soon is just as important as good coverage. Our 3-4 is OK, but I think we have the personnel to run a good 4-3. Hard to have only a 3 man front go against 5-6 men, unless you have some beasts. Wish we could see how Orakpo and Kerrigan would do as DEs, as they are pretty much beasts as OLBs, but as DEs they will be on the line and closer to the QB from the get go. |
Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
Seattle's D looks scary good - glad I have them in fantasy football.

Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
seattle is not passing at all

Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
That was a quick assessment:
Y! SPORTS |
Some of these passing totals are getting crazy, even with guys in losses. Vick and Eli both threw over 400 yards in losses so far this year. A 300 yard passing game is nothing special anymore. Insane
Yep it's a new era of football. I am an run first kind of guy so I really don't like it, but if my team was GB or Denver or NE I would because they win and have won without running in the past. Philadelphia will slow down I'm telling u vick won't last |
There is only one person to blame for this new ridiculous offensive advantage and that's peyton Manning. Like it or not he bitched and cried about the pats corners playing physical down field and they created they rule because of it. Yal cry about Brady and the hitting QB rule but I don't hear about Manning whining constantly after losing to NE for all those years. So the NFL gave their "face" what he wanted and now today DBs are non existent

Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
Richard Sherman just had a sick interception. Would be nice to have a CB like that.

Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
So where are all the Seattle isnt legit superbowl contender at this morning? That was a supreme ass whipping last night.

They're winning with running and defense, I still say Russell Wilson is over-hyped and gets too much credit. He was 8/19 (42%) for 142 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT and 51 yards were on one play. 63.9 passer rating. Week 1 he put up bigger numbers as they barely beat Carolina. Very impressive win last night but that was their D and Lynch. |

Even if they've stopped pumping sound through speakers, the stadium was manufactured to do this acoustically. Great idea and I applaud the architects. |

Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
Wilson might not have the #'s but is very smart, example is when he was running he flipped the ball for a critical first down to Tate I believe it was.

They're going to be contenders, but it'll be more like a Flacco deal last year...he'll be the hero despite mediocre play. |

Yeah after that game it refs got real tight with the illegal contact rule. I think it was Bill Polian who did most of the complaining. |

Well thats how we (fans and media) perceive that position, either too much credit or too much blame. Is that his fault? He's got those intangibles for the position clutch, leadership, character, etc. down already, thats a big step. But if you just take a look at his numbers in his rookie season, whats not to like? 64% 3000 yards, 26 TD and only 10 ints? I think most teams will take that |
Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
Wilson is solid but he's not a "Superstar" QB
He's not Luck or griffin or kaep |
Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
Can we just quit playing the 2013 season and just go ahead and have a Super Bowl with the Broncos vs Seahawks in NY while its warm? If the Seahawks win home field advantage, no one is beating them in Seattle.

That is hands down the best home field advantage I have ever seen. Even better than RFK. No one is going there and winning in Jan. |

Both of those teams could easily lose in the playoffs. Plus there is a good chance Seattle won't get home field advantage. |

Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
Home field advantage means nothing if you struggle on the road.
|
Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
^ yep and SEATTLE isn't the same on the road, they should have lost at Carolina

Right now, the only legit SB team is Denver.

Agreed. I don't care if he's leading a gay pride parade. We should sign him asap. He is better than anyone we have at safety. |
Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
think is you just can never tell in the NFL. The Ravens after their lost to us last year was a completely decimated team. Struggling to figure out who they were and even firing their O coordinator. Then what? Exactly.
If we lose the next two then I say you got some really concern for this team. IF we are 2-2 at the break off some solid wins the future looks bright. |
Re: Around the NFL...Week 2 Style!
Signing Rhodes is an immediate panic move.
I think we should wait for Tanard and roll with what we got. |

Steelers just ran man across the board with a blitz package and I always wonder why we don't run that. I don't think I EVER see our DB's plan bump and run.

With our pass rush.. I'm assuming it can't be that hard to hold press for more then 4 seconds. I would rather get beat by a 80 yard pass in man coverage then eaten up by 10-15 yard throws and be chunked away over time. |
