If that were true, he would have just ridden Beck, the weaker of the two, rather than flip-flopping. There also are many other moves that he would not have made. But that's not the strongest argument against your idiotic perspective. To wit: To tank is to be intentionally uncompetitive. Such is against Shanahan's nature. Shanahan is inherently competitive. Moreover, to tank is to take the coward's way out. And Shanahan is no coward. Also, your point of view essentially accuses Shanahan of being incompetent, since he is paid to win each and every game. Plus it means that he is an incompetent tanker, since we ended up with the #6 pick, not higher. So cite your sources which say otherwise.
What else do you expect from a Cowboys fan. |

Re: Redskins vs Broncos Pre Game Thread
I think it's almost impossible to ask 53 men, majority of whom don't have job security and are always auditioning for their livelihood, to not try as hard so next year (by the way they might not be there next year) you can have a top draft pick. Imagine walking up to London fletcher who only had a couple of seasons left and trying to convince him not to try as hard.
Not to mention if you are a coach and go 1-15 you probably would be fired, no matter who you are. I also think that just to make it to the NFL, you have to be one of the most competitive men in the US, especially if you are a coach, there are only 32 positions in the entire world. I don't think they have it in their DNA to want or even accept losing. Plus if the owner found out... Losing costs money. That's what owners care about most. But of course, it's not the craziest thing that would have been done so you never know what happens behind closed doors. |

Re: Redskins vs Broncos Pre Game Thread
I don't see how we can beat Denver. Their offense is just too good, and I don't think Peyton Manning will lose two in a row. However, if our offense steps up and scores a bunch of points, our front 7 on defense hits Manning hard and manages to rattle him, and we win the turnover battle, we just might be able to pull it out. My prediction: Redskins-31, Broncos-44.

Re: Redskins vs Broncos Pre Game Thread
Amazingly enough, two losses in a row is not uncommon for Manning

So if Manning were to get injured against us this Sunday, and we beat them with Brock Osweiler as their QB, we're a better team because we won against a team minus their best player? It's more like an asterisk win in my book.
I think you're looking at this wrong . . . This could be an effective strategy. Where's Greg Williams? |

I agree with others that I think it's possible we pull out a win this week, but I have to say when the game clock was running out against Indy they showed Manning and where his brother would be sulking, the look I saw in Peyton's eyes was full of determination. Not that Peyton could singlehandedly beat us through sheer force of will, or could he? I'm hoping RG3 can continue the torch passing that began last week, but I'm not overly confident in the team as a whole. |
^Griffin was CLUTCH on that last drive and it seems as if some want to just put that on the bears D and not give RG3 his due... But if griffin threw an INT on that drive he'd be a loser
Funny thing is, I wasn't worried about us scoring when we needed to in the 4th qtr. It just seemed natural that we would. Amazing what difference a relatively healthy and running RG3 makes. Haven't felt that way watching a skins game since... 1st qtr of last season's playoff game.

Re: Redskins vs Broncos Pre Game Thread
Kinda off topic but, Is it just me, or does it seem to others that a lot of a Skins fans are teetering back and forth between : "Griffin needs to stay in the pocket and not get hurt" and "look how well we do when Griffin runs, that's what we're good at, we gotta stick to that game plan."
Personally, I would like him to develop the skills he needs to inside the pockets. As I've brought before, Zone blocking OL tend to be smaller and not as good at pass blocking, which worries me, but that is why Elway succeeded, not only because he was mobile, but also because he had a quick release. That is the big thing I'm waiting to see from RGIII! A consistent accurate quick release. Also, do you think he will ever call audibles, hot routes, etc. more at the line of scrimmage like Peyton? Have I heard the Shannys don't like that? Is there any truth to that? I just think that if he could develop those skills, than he could carve defenses up from the pocket and not get hit constantly and then he could take whatever yards he can get on the ground when the right situation presents itself and avoid risky plays. I'm blown away by his talent, but I have to say I will be disappointed if his skill set doesn't expand beyond relying on his threat as a runner to give himself time to pass. |
Re: Redskins vs Broncos Pre Game Thread
He has plenty of time to develop as a pocket passer. In the meantime it's silly to not take advantage of his ability to run.

Sure, and it's fun to watch too, but I guess I just mean, for the price we paid, I'm hoping for an all around great QB with running ability, and not after 5 years in the league. |

The offseason is the time to work on development. Unfortunately he missed out on that this year. |

That's true I guess, I mean I assume you have to experience it in a game though to fully realize a skill, but I suppose the techniques and mechanics start in training camp. I'm not complaining or anything, nor do I expect he should be much further along, I guess I feel the "plan" for RGIIi is somewhat cryptic, perhaps by design, but I just hope what we see now is not the long term plan. |

Re: Redskins vs Broncos Pre Game Thread
Amazingly enough, two losses in a row is not uncommon for Manning
Manning is getting ready to face the best pass rush to date with Orakpo, Cofield, and Kerrigan. I feel solid about Hall, Wilson and amazingly enough Amerson. The Safety position.... ohh boy not good. I do believe our only hope is to blitz the hell out of him, that would force them to keep the TE in and help block. However that still leaves three damn good receivers. The offense has to sustain long time killing drives or the Defense will ripped apart in my opinion, especially if they try and play zone. |
Denver is trending down for sure the last few weeks. Starting with the Dallas game, followed by the Jags - imo the Jags best game of the year, and a loss to the Colts. The Skins seem to be trending up.
Im just not sure if our up is ready to catch their down quite yet. |

Don't forget too... that he's not just progressing as a passer. He's progressing as a runner. He's starting to get out of bounds better (still taking a few shots), but all in all.. he's not blindly running down the middle of the field. That's why I feel our run game is so important on those early downs. If we mow through 5-6 yards and face a 3rd and 5... that's territory that Griffin can scramble a bit and hop out of bounds. When it's 3rd and 12...that's where you'll start to see him have to cut up and increase the risk of re injury. |

Don't get me wrong, i don't think he needs to be prototype qb to be successful, and we would be foolish not to take advantage of his talent running the ball. I just hope there is a long term plan. |
