Truth be told the Redskins scored 16 points because he went off script. If he had've stayed on script the Redskins would have scored 0. Following the script the score was 0. He gave Robinson a chance to make a play.
I am curious, for those who don't think RG3 is the franchise QB, do we spend the next few years waiting and hoping for the next franchise QB to come along in the draft or do people honestly think Cousins has the skill set to be a franchise QB? Personally I think Cousins is an Alex Smith or Matt Flynn game manager type QB. That generally doesn't get you to the promised land and I would rather spend time finding out if RG3 truly has what it takes than to spend time on someone who doesn't.
When I say RG3 is not a franchise QB, I am just focusing on his current status. I believe he has the tools to become our franchise QB and one of the faces of the NFL. In my opinion, he's not there yet. Franchise QBs don't have 10 INTs and 10 Fumbles at this point in the season. I believe we can develop him further and I believe next season will be critical for where his career goes, assuming he doesn't get hurt here on out and gets a full offseason of work. |

If robby has another 4 yard half.... can we please just play Kirk?
If we end up below .500.... can we please have new coaches? I'm just going to attend much more Oriole games this year and say F- the Skins games. Its almost to the point of not even turning on watching the game on high definition. I'll just play it on the radio and do house chores or some shit. Probably take the girlfriend out and do what she wants. Another wasted Fall/Winter/Redskin season. Even the Washington Generals pulled out wins from time to time. Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
Just watched NFL Live on DVR with discussion of skins troubles. They played RG's press conference and first and foremost there's nothing about RG that says he's arrogent to the point of clouding his perspective. He's sharp and wants to win. He also recognizes the situation he's in IMO.
That situation, and the way it's being handled by the sports media, is becoming disgraceful. When you look at the myriad mistakes Shanny made with this team, from his disastrous handling of the defense, disastrous handling of the coaching staff namely his goofy kid and washed up d coordinator, and last but not least knee-gate from last season, I find it insulting to human intelligence and basic decency how the talking heads discuss the piss poor shape of the team and RG as having anything to do with each other. Short of a tragic injury, RG should be in pro football long beyond anyone named Shanahan. I just can't understand how anyone can look at the last 4 seasons objectively and then try to justify either father or son working in pro football beyond this season. RG said what everybody should know, defenses know the Shanahan's playbook and tendencies better than the coaches themselves. This legacy shit, keeping Mike and Kyle employed, has to stop. |

Looked pretty damn good coming into a huge spot and beating the eventual superbowl champs last year. Looked pretty freaking awesome kicking the crap out of the browns in a must win last year. He threw a bad pick in his first action ever - cold off the pine - against Atlanta last year, but also threw a beautiful td pass to Moss. As for this year - came in cold - and threw a bad pick six, but looked halfway decent after that. Pretty difficult to come in every once in a blue moon without any first team reps and look good, but Id say he has passed the eye test imo. I think terrible is .... Well ....a terrible word choice to describe the limited action we have seen from him thus far. |

About equal to people thinking he's a better option than Griffin, using the same limited action as evidence. The dude has played one complete game against a garbage football team and people assume he's somehow better than Griffin. It's mind-numbingly ridiculous. Especially considering all of the other 'eye test' evidence points to so-so arm strength, and the potential to be a turnover machine. |

Pretty good break down.
And Greg Cosell went on the radio today and said RG3 missed plays the entire game against the Eagles. He wasn't anticipating breaks, was hesitant and held onto the ball too long. He also said his mechanics were all over the map and he was unnecessarily throwing from different angles, which contributed to his inaccuracy. Guys were open and RG3 missed them, yet it's all Shannahan's fault. Got it. Then news breaks late in the day that RG3 called the wrong protection on the last play. But let's blame the O-line. This kind of reminds me of 2007 when Jason Campbell was getting pummeled and there were no running lanes for Clinton Portiis. Campbell apologists put all the blame on the O-line. Then, low and behold, Todd Collins comes in and never gets touched and Portis suddenly has gaping holes to run through. Just maybe Collins knew what protections to call, was able to anticipate what the Defense was going to do BEFORE the ball got snapped and therefore, got rid of the damn ball instead of holding onto it. Maybe Defenses couldn't blitz him like they could Campbell. RG3 just may lead this team to the promised land one day, but right now he's average. His mechanics need work, he has poor pocket awareness, he fumbles like Rex, gets balls batted down too frequently, can't slide and is inaccurate. On top of that, there seems to be growing evidence that he has trouble reading Defenses and can't anticipate what's going to happen pre-snap. Good news is that he's only in his second year and can and probably will improve. But the onus is on him and blaming the coaching, the system or the O-line is loser talk and only deflects accountability. |

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
RG3 spent the offseason rehabbing his knee instead of practicing football. For a long tenured vet like Peyton Manning missing an offseason doesnt matter so much but for a 2nd year QB it matters a lot. In a lot of ways 2013 was finished when RG3 went down in last year's playoff game and unfortunately his quick comeback gave a lot of fans false hope. Like I said in a prior post I'd be much more worried if I was a SF fan since Kapernick had a full offseason and has been terrible.
Its amazing that anyone would even think RG3 isnt the Skins franchise QB. IMO all the years of losing have made Skins fans doubt the Skins drafting ability and believe that the grass is greener with a QB another team found. Stick with RG3, he will be fine. My real concern with RG3 is his durability. |

^ actually all the years of losing have nothing to do with the draft or qb's. It is clearly due to the fact that Joe Gibbs sold the Redskins soul to the devil (he is too much of a God fearing man to sell his own), and the curse of the Oneida tribe.

He needs to work in live game situations to improve the mechanical and cerebral aspects of being a professional QB. He will get there eventually. I compare his growing pains to Cam Newton's last year. Cam has looked like a complete QB the last two months. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
Again, I just think having absolutely no offseason to prepare is a huge reason why Griffin III has struggled this year. An offseason where he could have worked on those mechanics, instead, he worked on rehabbing the knee. I'm not sure why people don't consider that?
And also, I just think his rookie season was such a blessing and a curse, because the initial success in his career has led to very inflated expectations. Barring anymore serious, offseason consuming injuries, year three should show a bit more accurate picture of what the 'skins have with RGIII. Give him a full offseason of preparation to work on those mechanics, development of more drop back passing, and give him some upgrades up front to better pass protect. If all the stars line up like that and Robert still appears to show no signs of improvement, then we're in trouble. But all this nitpicking right now is just what it is, nitpicking. |

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
The move that Shanahan and Snyder needs to make is hire a good QB coach. Greg Knapp comes to mind. Matt Lafleur is Kyle's boy, but we need someone that can develop Robert and help him on his mechanics.
|
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I wouldn't fault the coaches for his mechanics. The offseason is the time for working on that stuff and with his rehab they simply couldn't do it. Sucks but that's reality.
|
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
Rehab may take a significant part of his offseason time but that should not limit him from studying film, the playbook, opposing defenses or concentrating on mechanics. I relate it to Tiger fixing his golf swing while coming back from injury. You have to practice mechanic in once cleared to throw. Not revert, and blame it on the knee.

He watched plenty of film and got the mental reps, I don't think that was the issue. But when you can't practice what you're watching it doesn't do a ton of good. I'm pretty sure the majority of his time was spent on rehab, just learning how to walk and run again and he wasn't going full speed and cutting hard until he got close to camp. Again, hard to work on mechanics under those circumstances. Nothing really simulates going full speed in a practice with no limitations. |

But things need to get under control in that locker room.I said it weeks ago and I still believe it,I think RG3 can be a prima donna and his ego is out of control. So many reports coming out that he's lost the locker room, with Moss's comments and RG3's after the game, its not looking good. I wish RG3 would have been benched at halftime and the next game too.Sometimes a qb needs to sit on the bench a while and observe and maybe he would get his ego in check. And I dont believe that bs he said after the game, that he was trying to throw it out of the endzone. He was under pressure and threw it up for grabs and now he's trying to cover his ass. Also he said after the game no one was open on the play and he didnt have time, which is a subtle shot at his line and receivers.I havent seen the video, but I heard that Helu was open on the play. He needs to keep his mouth shut to the media and talk to the players to clear things up,thats what a leader would do.
Well now reports are everythings under control in the locker room. And I see its reported he did have a talk with Moss,so thats a step in right direction. |

I know Kyle will never do this, but trash the RO, 3 men in the back field shit for a week. Spread out the field, mix in hurry up and run what he ran at Baylor. That's where he seems most comfortable. Run what he wants, not what they want. The season is lost so why not?

Tigers knee surgery was at the end of June 2008, one week after he won the US Open over Rocco Mediate at Torrey Pines. BTW, that is the last major TW has won. That started TW's longest time away from competitive golf. Even when TW started his return he had to curtail his practice and play because his knee still gave him problems and didnt allow him to practice how and how much he needed to. Watching film is fine but there no substitute for actual reps and building muscle memory. RG3 needed reps last offseason and he didnt get them. Hopefully he gets out of this season healthy and gets those reps. |
