If we traded two of our precious draft picks for Gabbert and Martin I'd have a royal hissy fit.
I wouldn't have traded for Gabbert since the skins have no need for him, but Martin for a 7th rounder at a position of need is a no brainer. |

Meeting news:
Denver talking to Brandon LaFell. Patriots and Jason Avant. Cleveland and Ben Tate. Raiders and Andre Brown (Giants RB). Raiders and Terrell Thomas. Rams and Davin Joseph, wish we'd kick those tires. Titans and LaMarr Woodley. And Alex Carrington (Bills), a player I mentioned I'd like to have here, is talking to the Browns and Rams. Bengals are expected to match Cleveland's offer to try to keep Andrew Hawkins. The Patriots, the Jets and the Browns talking to TB about Revis. Apparently the asking price is a 5th-round pick! |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Seattle just cut Chris Clemons. Too bad he's 33 but I'd bring him back on the cheap. Another one of those players who instantly got better after leaving us.

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Panthers WR Steve Smith's agent said ""Smith is not going to play for the Panthers next year, I know that. I just don't know when that transaction is going to take place."
Agent: Panthers WR Smith done in Carolina
Fox said the Panthers have been trying to trade Smith, but expects he will ultimately be released. He said the Panthers have not asked Smith to restructure his current contract which calls for him to make $7 million under this year's salary cap. Regardless of whether the Panthers cut Smith or keep him, the club will have to pay him $3 million this season as part of the three-year contract extension he signed in 2012. Smith's current contract runs through 2016.
|

Any team which pays a corner $16 mil., regardless of how good he is, is immediately in cap hell. |

Giants just re-signed Jon Beason. I was hoping they'd lose him.
Packers interested in TE Owen Daniels. Also, Jared Allen just threatened to retire if no team meets his money demands. That should help him get signed. Jared Allen ready to 'walk away' if he doesn't get paid - NFL.com |

Not surprised at the location but I am at the contract terms.
Good, he's out of the division. |

This usually doesnt work and I dont think it will with the Broncos.

Denver has all of its chips at the center of the table.

Look at last year's team. The best offense ever and where did the team fall short? Defense. Talib, Ward, Ware and possibly Jared Allen should fix that defense. Plus, addition by subtraction with Bailey and Rodgers-Cromartie leaving. |

Who remembers the Eagle's "Dream Team"? |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
I do think the Broncos are in good shape to make a run at a dream team style approach (unlike the Eagles that year). They know they have 2 years at most with Manning, after that, it will be a rookie or other replacement qb and Manning's cap number comes off the books. A lot depends on making sure they don't screw up the numbers, but if you got the cap space and Manning for 2 years, #winnow.

No, but they do help with the 43 point part. |

That game was an anomaly offensively. Every other game, the offense had no problems scoring points. What they're doing is trying to match the champs' defensive talent...forget that, they're shooting to exceed it. |

Nothing nice about signing a bunch of 30+ vets and buying a championship. Just ask the Skins of 02-10

Yeah, except this collection of vets is more accomplished that the folks we cobbled together. And they have Peyton Manning, whereas our starting QBs in 2002-2010 are not even allowed to visit the hall of fame. |
Brandon Weeden cut per Sirius NFL

Denver signs Darrell Revis
Captain Munnerlyn, Chris Clemons, Jared Allen. Brandon Spikes, Julius Peppers and the entire remaining 2014 UFA class. |

If Seattle's offense hadn't scored a point... Seattle still wins 9 to 8. |
Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread
Little confused as to why we didn't go after Golden Tate. Maybe he and Roberts are the same guy. But every time I watched a Seattle game, Tate was making a play on teams or catching the ball. 13 million guarenteed. Can't believe Seattle sent him packing.
