That's because drafting BPA is a fantasy. It rarely happens in the first three rounds. This draft has proven that fact with need pick after need pick.
A month ago, Williams was touted as a perennial all pro.

A month ago, Fowler was the 3rd or 4th ranked edge rusher in the draft depending on which site you followed.

Last night, Williams wasn't even the first defensive player taken.

Fowler didn't suddenly improve his skill set over the last four weeks in order to get picked above the next JJ Watt.

It's not like Madden where you get to see all the tidy ratings in whole numbers and can rate and prioritize based on preference. (Strength 89, Agility 91, Smarts 95)

McLovin and company have interviewed, researched, and studied all of these guys. He has consistently said he looks at intangibles like love of the game, character, work ethic, and maturity.

With these components factored in, who says he didn't draft the best player available?

Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.

perhaps TJ Clemmings OT in 3rd if he lasts?
I doubt he will...but quite frankly 2 guys lasted to us the last 2 picks and Scotty picked folks better for the Skins vs higher ranked by the masses.

If this was the old Skins our drafting would be going like this:

Round 1: DE Leonard Williams USC

Round 2: DE/OLB Randy Gregory Nebraska

I know it's not a need but if Jaelen Strong is there when we pick in Rd 3 I would take him

:Smoker: I wonder why Gregory missed meetings, and showed up 90 minutes late for meetings with NFL scouts/GMs ?

Everyone of these players is a kid. They are all going to mature greatly over the next several years. I have too many friends that have done 180's in both directions. Football players are no different.
Either way he turns out I hate him though cus he is a Cowturd.

Not trying to be a smartass, but how do you know who's BPA? Our rankings or any other pundits don't mean jack shit in the grand scheme of things. It matters what Scott's board says.

But I think what KI is saying is that there seem to be alot of need picks and it would be incredibly coincidental if the cards were just falling that way, and BPA kept filling needs.

Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.

It looks like the Skins must have traded out of the top of the 3rd with Seattle who I think holds the 31st slots
Rd 1 - #5(5) Brandon Scherff (OT) Iowa
Rd 2 - #6(38) Preston Smith (DE) Miss St
Rd 3 - #31(95)
Rd 4 - #6(105)
Rd 4 - #13(112)
Rd 5 - #5(141)
Rd 5 - #31(167)
Rd 6 - #5(181)

Kind of disappointed that we moved back here. Lockett is going to be a player and make Seattle more explosive. Great pick by the Hawks.

I like giving Scot more picks, but that is a large drop to get them. I guess Scot's mantra is also in Scot he trusts too.

So we're gonna draft 10 guys.
I would think we could get three starters outa that.

We have the 5th and 12th picks of the 4th round.

Seattle had traded up in the 4th round pre draft.

Trading back is fine. But when you sacrifice a game breaker then I'm not a fan of it. That pick we could have had a game breaker. Lockett can return kicks, punts and can run all the routes and is a serious deep threat. Very under the radar cause of his size but is as good as any wr in this draft. I'm telling you guys, watch this kid Lockett. Seattle got a really really good player.

Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.

that's a good trade in my books. high 3rd for low 3rd, mid 4th, low 5th, high 6th.

It's nothing short of asinine to judge it before seeing who Scot selects with the acquired picks.

if he were a real game breaker he wouldn't be on the board in the 3rd round. the draft is also guess work, and you win by doing your homework and having more chances.

so, still need FS, 3rd down back, OG, blocking TE if we're going by needs (and excluding QB.
