Re: Jets Gameday thread
Perine will be RB1 by week 1
|
Re: Jets Gameday thread
Geron Christian who we graded out as very poor last week was better last night, he still gave up leverage to the inside on a few rushes but I hope to see him improve throughout the PS, lord knows we need the help on the OL.

I think so too, with what we've seen so far he's got a burst we didn't see from him last year. |

great to see in his second year it looks like he isn't content with being written off. |
Re: Jets Gameday thread
I saw first half of the game and I saw things I like and some things I hope we will resolve by the kickoff. I like what Sims is showing - like Gruden said, he is raw but if he develops well then I can see him playing a big role for Redskins in future. Quinn is developing as well and I can imagine him making some key catches in the season. I suppose Davis getting injured and on IR now is a blessing in disguise as now we keep them all and cut Quick. Quick is a veteran player and obviously he can't develop anymore so might as well move on from him.. I love what our Dline is showing; great efforts by Allen and Payne, and awesome efforts by Settle - with Tomsula, I can see him growing into a key player for Redskins.
I'm disappointed with our running game - Kelley looked like a different player but he runs same. I couldn't tell if Perine is any better since I didn't see first preseason game and he got injured on first run. |

He's lost some weight it appears, he broke off long runs in college but most guys can do that. I hope he ends up a good back for us |
Re: Jets Gameday thread
Perine hit that hole hard last night, he took the handoff and was full speed as he passed through the hole. If he has to dance he's stopped dead in his tracks but give him a hole and he looked like he can do damage.
I'm excited to see the impact that all the movement plays Jay has planned for Smith. All that rolling out and read option stuff has a nice impact of freezing linebackers and ends for just a split second. If that helps Perine get to the hole just a little faster, we just might be decent enough at running the ball. |

Hard to tell after one look, but yeah that's what I thought too. Didn't see him get pushed back as much as last week, overall it felt like he was also moving better, more at ease than last week. |
Re: Jets Gameday thread
I saw a GIF of one of our backs making a NASTY fucking portis type cut last night... I didn't see the 2nd half but who was it? #22? The gift was unclear.

Could be #22: Martez Carter. I'm watching the 2nd half right now, he just came into the game. |
Re: Jets Gameday thread
Yeah it was Carter that made a really nice cutback for a big gain
|
Re: Jets Gameday thread
Rewatching on DVR and man Rob Kelley just looks.... Bad in general. I don't even know why, looks even more stuttery getting to the hole most plays, vision looks delayed or slow... Showed a few decent looks but nothing too impressive

Re: Jets Gameday thread
On the Jets 2nd drive I like the run D alot, and I really like that stroman I think it was, had the awareness to break off of his man and collapse on the receiver that caught the ball right in front of him. Something that some players easily wouldn't see.... The D looks good. I just can't wait til there is a lot more scheme involved and vlutzes etc. Creativity and adjustments on the coaching side will be a real test IMO to keep improving upon

Re: Jets Gameday thread
I only saw a few plays so I am not sure this is saying much about his overall play but I saw this young LB Jerod Fernandez flash some serious speed from right OLB. Bridgewater on a pass play escaped pressure by scrambling around right end. Fernandez chased him down from behind by sprinting across the field and stopped him for no gain Flashed some serious speed from a LB.

Overall I think our 2nd and 3rd string OLB played pretty well. I'm at the beginning of the 4th quarter, that guy Pete Robertson #45 is having a solid game too. And PFF gave a really good grade to Ryan Anderson (he didn't make a lot of flashy plays, but in the run game I think he was setting a good edge, driving his guy in the backfield): EDIT: Not sure these are this week's grades or last week's... EDIT2: Pretty sure they're this week's grades, don't think Iworah would've earn that high of a grade last week. Don't know why there's a Pat on the picture then |

Rewatched the 1st half.
Man did Tim Settle prove me wrong again! This week was way more eye catching than last week IMO, and mainly against 1st string OLinemen too. I don't even think he got drove back an inch once in the half, split double teams, batted a ball after driving Spencer Long 4 yards into the backfield... Impressive. Ryan Anderson did set a really good edge throughout the half. |
Re: Jets Gameday thread
Anderson appears to be a decent run down player but is no help in the pass rush. Just not quick enough, don’t think he ever will be.

Please stop trying to find minor positives about his play. His position is all about rushing the passer! He can't do that so he can't play that position in the NFL. End of story. |

This is indeed what I was trying to do, finding minor positives, because the negatives are pretty obvious, so I thought positives were worth highlighting a little bit.
Now again, I never said there was anything to be wowed by, just that I thought, and apparently so does PFF, that he's showing signs of improvement. Not trying to make a hero out of him. Just commenting what I think I saw. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |

So a LB can’t make a living playing the run?

Not an OLB (DE) in today's NFL. |
Re: Jets Gameday thread
If I have to be completely honest, I must say one of the reasons I come on this board is to learn. To learn about a sport I love and didn't know anything about 10 years ago.
Playing and officiating it taught me a lot, but I still have a learn to lot... especially about the trenches (I played CB). So if I come here and only say obvious things I know everybody will agree with ("Oh Payne looked good" "Oh too bad Guice got hurt"), I don't learn anything... Good example: last week, everybody said Tim Settle looked good, I didn't see it, I expressed it, got corrected, Schneed helped me look at the right things to see it... I learned quite a lot. With Anderson it's quite the same thing: I see him getting a good push on quite a lot of plays, I don't think he did that last year, or I missed it... Yet nobody talks about it... So I say what I saw, to have you guys' take on it... increase my knowledge of the game ;) |
Re: Jets Gameday thread
Not an OLB (DE) in today's NFL.
There are rotational DE/OLB on every roster. If they could rush the passer, they wouldn't be rotational.
Nobody is saying he is going to be an all pro, but he may turn into a serviceable pro. I think the jury is still out. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

Cooley thought he had a really good season for us, and I think he was ranked pretty high in some advanced PFF pressure stats, wasn't he? Now, I don't think signing an OLB would be at the top of our FO's priorities list. But at the right price, why not ? |

That's funny because "galette" is actually the name of a french meal. So McGalette sounds like McDonald just release a new french burger. Not sure what it'd look like but it could actually be good. |
