Moreau forced another fumble. I did it, I found a positive. Looking forward to him starting with Dunbar next year.

As usual after a loss too much focus on the QB in general.

Granted Smith did not play well at all, but the breakdowns on D and with the OL were more of a concern to me.
What do you think was the bigger problem, the QB, or the "here"?

Definitely here...

Although he's only 2-2-1 in Minnesota so maybe we should say let's wait and see

I thought i said this a couple times already but when I say Cousins wanted to be here - i mean 2012-2017. After they jerked him around with the tag for two years it was over. No doubt he wanted out towards the end of last season and I dont blame him.
just watched the defensive tape, bad bad bad. Scheme was horrible, Busted coverage all night long.. No pass rush, Payne and Allen are still balling every week tho. I will get feedback on the Offensive side (I only had the D to do).

Brees had it easy last night
What doesn't make sense to me is we played them tough last year, and the time before that we crushed them as bad as they did us last night. You can't tell me Payton and Brees somehow unleashed a whole new offensive scheme last night that no one has ever seen?? How was our D and mainly the secondary THAT lost all night?? I honestly may feel better about it if someone came in and admitted that the whole D was paid off so Brees could just have that big of a night!

Sunday at 10:00 a.m. can't come fast enough. I don't like Carolina and we owe them some payback. Beating them would be great way to get this taste out of our mouth.

When it comes personnel so far this season...I have major issues but quarterback isn’t necessarily one of them.

Right now, it’s clear to me

1. Interior Oline...Roullier, Bergstrom and Luavo have been fuckin garbage. I’m bringing in multiple players in the offseason. Get this shit fix. Luavo and berg are gone. Roullier can stay but his spot will be earned versus competition at his spot.

2. WR...I’m bringing in a Vet to challenge for the outside spot and I’m moving Doctson inside at slot since crowder is playing like just a guy who I’m not offering an extension too.

3.Norman been bad last 2 games, I’m thinking he will bounce back. But Monte Nicholson I have more concerns about...he’s not been good.

4. Preston smith has been bad...no extension earned, I want him to walk. With the first round pick next year, I’m going pass rusher to replace him...But I like a couple SEC corners too.

You know we have team issues when we’re still talking about Cousins still. Let’s be real, he was like good Rex bad Rex, when he was good he was really good but when he was bad he sucked.

Cousins is a decent QB but he’s not the second coming of Joe Montana and we have problems that are far greater than who’s slinging the ball around.

That ain't happening. Especially when he just lit up the defending champs in their building, is playing very well, and Smith just threw out a shit sandwich and has 4 td passes in 4 games.

The coaching really is awful. My son thinks I’m a genius because I can tell what play the Redskins will run when they come to the line with about 80% accuracy (maybe a shade higher). And my football knowledge is pretty limited. It kills me and I often remark that if I can diagnose the play, opposing defenses surely can.

Seemed like it last night.

In 1, 2, and 4, the only guy that needs to stay is Chase. We already have a better Preston Smith, Kerrigan. We need a damn speed rusher. Get me a guy that can bend that damn corner like a speed skater. Needed that for a while now. I think Dunbar and Moreau will be our starting outside corners next year and we sign/draft 2 guys for slot/depth.

And yet they have the same amount of wins.

Cousins wasn't going to win in a shoot-out against Brees last night.

Is Chase a better guard than center? Should we draft a center and bump him to LG? The interior line needs to be improved by any means necessary. I want to pound people of the middle. Our defense has some interior hogs it would be nice to have the same on offense.

Like with everything on this team, it is all about consistency. The o-line looked great against Green Bay and Arizona. I mean, not just good, great. Against Indy and last night, they were awful. I think this is where coaching needs to come in and fix the consistency issues.

Looking completely different whether for good or bad is the staple of this entire coaching staff. That's why its a fools errand picking if we'll win or lose against any team. There is nothing to base it on. What they looked like the game before will have no bearing on what they look like during the current game. Hopefully that stays the same this week and we smoke Carolina.

The discrepancies between the level of play displayed by our secondary and our OL from week to week has "bad coaching" written all over it IMO.
I've been a Jay defender, but last night was one too many meltdown for me... barring a strong season, and at least a solid playoff win, I think he should be gone next year.

When I saw this play last night, I was going crazy. AP really needs to trust his blockers more and not try to do everything himself:

https://twitter.com/CraigHoffman/status/1049762873042440194

Roullier and Bergman pull to the left, Reed and Trent go right, they opened a huge hole for AP. Instead, AP kept going to the outside and right into the spot where Roullier was pushing his guy.

This was early in the game and AP could have scored, instead two plays later we had to settle for a FG (a TD would have made it 7-6 Redskins).

On that same Twitter thread, Craig Hoffman is looking at the hold penalties and found that:

a.) Norman's first penalty on third down was a terrible call, M. Thomas fell to the ground on a legal hit by Norman, but the refs called it anyway.

b.) Dunbar's hold penalty on the goal line, was the same where M. Thomas grabbed him by the facemask.

Not that I'm making excuses, but the officiating was pretty shitty in the first half, when the Redskins were somewhat in this game.

We may want to start thinking about players we are not planning on resigning or are on the back end of their careers and still have good trade value and trade them to teams in need and bring in hungry guys with the draft picks. (example- Norman to a team in desperate need of a CB)

htownskinfan 10-09-2018 06:12 PM

Re: Post Dumpster Fire...er Skins vs. Saints Thread

This should get you cut,not the highest paid corner in the league!:angry-smi

For the season, Norman has been targeted 16 times in four games, allowing 12 receptions, 17.9 yards per catch, three touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 156.3 passer rating.

Norman needs to stfu and play a hell of a lot better

I'm pretty confident on that one, but in general, i definitely question his playcalling. My main issues with him are above that tho. The team just looks flat out unprepared way too often. We had a bye week and still looked like a pile of dogshit stacked on another pile of dogshit.

Re: Post Dumpster Fire...er Skins vs. Saints Thread

Ok. I honestly feel as pessimistic as everyone else, but I've been thinking about some contributing factors to this absolute embarrassment of a game. Not that coaching, execution, discipline, and effort and quite possibly talent aren't emphatically the biggest factors at hand, but there are other factors that are worth considering perhaps.

First, most obviously, it was Brees' night. Everyone in that stadium knew that.

Yes the Redskins knew that, and if you're a team with a good culture that should not have had a significant impact. I honestly can't tell if it did, but I can't imagine it not especially how things played out.

I'm not saying this was a home job. Even if I can point to several calls that seemed questionable, I could say that about any game really. That said, some of the calls suggested to me that their focus on what type of penalties they were looking for may at least have been subconsciously swayed.

The fans knew it; that crowd was a factor from the beginning. They weren't just loud, but they were emotional. This team, that city, and Brees have a special relationship.

The Saints knew it. They were all playing as one for a significant moment that meant more than just a record. In a league where there is not a significant gap in talent, special moments can tip the scales.

Brees knew it. This man is one of the few greatest QBs of his generation and somewhere on the list all time. He was not just playing for the record. He was playing for his team and his city. When a player like Brees is inspired their level of play is elevated beyond their typical excellence. It didn't matter who he was playing, this was going to be a big night for him.

I'm not excusing anyone, the team fell apart, Alex looked terrible, and Jay is on thin ice, but this was a much more difficult task than I really appreciated going into the game. It is possible that this is a really bad growing pain game exacerbated by a collision course with circumstance. Right now it feels like the wheels are coming off. This team needs to get themselves right real quick. Jonathan Allen is encouraging. The next couple weeks will tell us, but Jay Grudens job will depend on it.

Easy to blame the coaches in blowout losses but i never expected to see so many blown coverages by the DBs and the horrendous under-thrown/overthrown balls by Smith.

No amount of coaching could have made up for the player mistakes on the top 5 most important plays/mistakes.
