Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
I voted yes after listening to Cooley on Sheehan's podcast .
It all depends on the price, a combination including a 3rd, or a 2nd alone and I'd be fine with it, but I'd be mad if they give away 15th. I get the feeling we could get him at a surprisingly cheap price. Last year's performance hurt his stock, the fact that the Cards want to trade Murray and trade Rosen away is hurting his stock, the fact that every body is getting so hyped on some of this year draft's QBs is hurting his stock. If we can coach the fumble away and coach the "throw the check down when you need to" in, we have a very decent young prospect for virtually no cap hit. I'd like that. |
Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
About the trading TW and RK thing, Sheehan only spoke about it when he was exposing his "blow the whole thing up" theory, in which trading your valuable assets to get value when you'll be competitive in exchange for players that won't be valuable when you finally get competitive makes sense.
But it's obvious this FO and coaching staff is trying to save their asses so this is not happening. |

Seems like a move to try to get some leverage back in negotiations for Rosen, doesn't it ? |

Right. But the fact that he finally says what he's supposed to say after saying he'd pick Murray if he could and everybody has been speculating that he would for several weeks, that he says it now that they're trying to get value for Rosen kinda feels like a "shit we have no leverage if every body is 100% sure that we won't need Rosen after drafting Murray" move... |

This is at the Cardinals team store.... Obviously the smoke was real in this rumor. |
Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
I don't think it's that it takes away their leverage in Rosen discussions, I think it's that it takes away their leverage in the off chance that they got offered a king's ransom for the first overall pick.
The leverage in Rosen discussions only comes if multiple teams are in the hunt. Otherwise they have no leverage. At this point it's pretty well known that they want Murray. They're probably thinking plan A would be to get offered a Herschel Walker or Ricky Williams level trade for the #1 overall. Plan B would be to take Kyler and trade Josh Rosen for the highest offer they can get. Trading Rosen will work quite well for them if they've got two or more interested teams bidding against each other. Right now it looks like the Skins have competition from the Giants. The Cards can simply play them off one another, knowing that they're division rivals and don't want to see the other land a QB they think has a future. |
Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
It's also entirely possible Rosen's already been traded. You would think the Schefters of the world would know if he was. But teams aren't allowed to announce trades until March 13, the start of the new league year.
The Cards and Skins, or the Cards and Giants, or the Cards and Patriots may already have a deal in place for Rosen and we're all just waiting on bated breath for word. The media has an incentive to keep everyone hanging on the cliff, too. They like the clicks and views from those who want to refresh the news every 15 minutes. I'm sure baseball media loved the clicks and views that came from the Harper saga. There are tin foil hat conspiracy theories, and then there are theories where monetary incentives align. I think it's entirely possible a Rosen deal is already done. |

I'd imagine right away on March 13 you will see the trade official. Rosen to Washington for the 46th pick (2nd rd) and I'd be ok with that. |

I agree. This is a deep draft and there will be blue chip talent at 15. Rosen is still a big question mark. I am hearing teams are inquiring about Rosen, but there is not a bidding war. We need to pump the brakes and not over pay for Rosen. We should not be desperate. |

Giants are definitely looking at QB this year. |

I really wish NFL teams would stop trading with them. |

Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
I keep hearing ..I hope we don’t do something desperate involving a QB...fact is we are desperate! Maybe the worst QB situation in the league. McCoy and JJ is all we got and a lot of you said during the few games that JJ played that he didn’t belong on a roster that he was terrible. So yea I believe we are desperate . What makes the Rosen deal a good choice is his salary.. the deal I believe will be we get Rosen and there 33 pick for our number 15 and maybe our 3rd round . This team is due for some good luck and I can see Rosen May have a huge upside and if moving down 18 picks gets us a possible franchise QB then do it!

Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
I can't remember a single time in history where a bidding war hasn't worked out for the team who won the war.
Hope the Cards get a good haul out of the sucker. |

........in the draft maybe but not Rosen. I still think that a trade between the Steelers and the Cards could happen. Rosen goes to the Steelers and 2020 2020 #4 and the Cards get AB and draft Murray. |
Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
Either way we screw if up... watch Rosen go to another team and tear it up!!while we over reach in draft and pick a qb that is third rnd talent with number 15 pick!! That is my fear..

There is no right answer for us. And our history for the last 25 years or so, says no matter what happens, it doesn't work out for us. Gun to my head I want Lock in the 1st and a receiver/edge player in the 2nd/3rd in either order. And a starting LG with our 3rd comp pick. |
Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
This would be the first QB decision I've liked since 2012....errr probably my entire fan-life (2002)
Obviously assuming its not our first rounder, and it won't be. |

That would be a good trade. Rosen is a very accurate passer.

Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
i'd be all for Rosen . . . people are saying a 2nd at the highest for Rosen . . . question . . . if Rosen is as good as the top 3 in this years draft, that means he would be taken in the top 15 most likely . . . so why is he not worthy of the 15th pick? he is still very young, and has a year of NFL experience to build on which none of this years QB's have . . . i live in AZ . . . Rosen showed some impressive stuff at times and was behind an o-line that was PUTRID at best . . . he had horrible offensive play calling . . . just think, that offense made Bradford, who was outstanding in Minnesota look like one of the worse QB's to ever put on a pair of cleats . . . Rosen was FAR FAR FAR better than Bradford was . . . i think he has a TON of upside and would be very happy to get him, even for the 1st round pick . . . if we can get him cheaper, that would be awesome!!! . . . he actually played a ton better than his stats and i seen every game he played . . . if the Skins could get him for a 2nd or 3rd and could fill LG and get a WR, he would be really good here!!

Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
He fits the system better than Kirk for the fact that he's a more gifted thrower, and is just as accurate. It's a perfect match and needs to happen

Check out JP Finlay's twitter page. Sounds like we may be trading for Case Keenum.

Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available
"Broncos have trade parameters with Washington for QB Case Keenum: Broncos get WAS 6th in 2020, WAS gets Broncos 7th in '20, per source. Keenum's contract reworked. Broncos pay him $500K restructure bonus and pay $3.5 million of his $7M salary. Washington pays $3.5 mi."
Our boy Colt gets paid $3M. This is fine. I'd rather have Rosen and develop but this is fine---not end of world. I have no expectations for this year but still can build a team. |
