Week 1 number 1 ranked defense. They were banged up, don't care.
Wow...Impressive Yes the excuse of banged up is bullshit. Welcome to the NFL |

Week 1 number 1 ranked defense. They were banged up, don't care.
Great but a little miffed that the Eagles are #3, despite our O being somewhat anemic. And it doesn't include MNF; Steelers had a good outing too. |

Yeah certainly not a sympathy thing, but Arizona will be a truer test for sure. We shut down Murray like we did Wentz and im gonna say we are an 8 win team at worst. Dude is goooood. Hopkins. Gonna be a tough duo. |

Week 1 number 1 ranked defense. They were banged up, don't care.
It's a week to week league and it's only one game. Eagles could have easily hit a few more plays as Wentz missed some open deep balls that could have changed the game. Now if we're still first in defense several weeks in then it will mean something. But after one week, it really means nothing. |

Key to game, take out Murray. Every week that should be key, take out the opposing QB in a legal way, by submission. |

This coming week is ALL about to defending the air raid. That’s the key to winning

You have to contain Murray, he’s most dangerous when he’s on the move. I say pound his ass when possible. |

I didnt want to be a negative Nancy on victory Monday but Wentz dropped back 42 times and we only had 3 pass deflections. PD is a weird stat that i dont put much weight to but many times on Sunday Wentz was missing guys where our coverage wasnt great. 3PDs on 42 throws kind of supports that. 2 ints, Moreau and Moreland were both watching the QB, which allowed them to break on the ball and make great plays but the saying is "if youre watching the QB, youre watching the receiver make a catch on you". Both throws it appeared Wentz was late as well. Eagles play calling also was suspect. A quick passing attack would have neutralized the pass rush and taken advantage of their TEs on our LBs. They targeted the TEs heavy but when youre something like 11 catches on 12 targets for Goebert, you need to keep going to that. The Redskins deserved to win on Sunday and the D was dominant ... but it was a perfect storm that contributed to a win imo. On Moreau's momentum changing int, if the receiver had broken the route off at the sticks vs taking it 5 more steps deep = thats a catch and FD vs an int deep in their zone. Without some sembelence of a run game to help Haskins, better coverage play from the secondary (S especially) and LBs being able to cover TEs ... its not a readily repeatable outcome. |

^^ Mark Bullock. If you want a one stop shop for film breakdown on specific plays ... this is the guy. ---------------- https://twitter.com/MarkBullockNFL/status/1305225358913024000?s=20 On this play, Moreland is watching the QB, D Jax breaks off his route, Moreland slips, D Jax with the catch. Watching the QB has to be what we are teaching our CBs. Give Kingsbury some film and Im sure he will exploit it next week ... thats if we dont switch it up. IM not a fan of watching the QB. Opposing teams with a decent QB can just play pitch and catch. Yes occasionally on a late ball or a floater we can get the big int but more times than not, its going to be a catch and first down. |

The Eagles coaching definitely helped contribute to giving WFT the chance to win the game. If the Eagles focus on running the ball and shortening the game I dont think WFT wins. |

I kind of thought who ever won Phil WFT was going to be the only team with a win nice to see it is Football Team even if it is only for a week or two. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Is it just me, or are there fewer articles about the game than in past years? Really only seen a basic recaps containing essentially the same information about the game, a couple articles on CY, and an SI piece on Haskins speech.
I don't get the Post so maybe that's where some of the more in-depth stuff is. I am used to seeing articles about how each unit performed, top ten takeaways, etc. and am not seeing those breakdowns. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Any chance the Eagles are a 3 - 13 team fighting for Trevor Lawrence, and at the end of the year this win will mean nothing?

SunnySide to his hostess after Thanksgiving Dinner: "Thank you for inviting me. I really enjoyed the meal but the turkey was a little dry, don't you think?"
Irish (also a dinner guest): "Yes, it was very dry and I would have preferred stuffing instead of dressing." We won because we smacked them in the mouth all day long and they got rattled. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
I have read all the posts and there are better analysis by others than I could give. Regardless of the deficiencies, the thing that impressed me the most is that the team didn't quit when it was 17 - 0. Under Gruden, the team would have rolled over and quit. Good coaching and great effort by the players. It's nice to be No. 1 in the division, even if it is only the first week.

Pretty sure Gruden was in charge when we overcame a 24pt deficit to beat the Bucs. :confused?: |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Way to early to tell what kind of team this is ... yes it was a great win however we were down 17-0 before any signs of actual competition kicked in..I hope the dominant D we saw the remaining game is a glimpse of what’s to become !!

I feel the need to say it one more time: One of the worst trades ever! Bill O'Brien is a horrible GM and he can't coach either. How in the world does O'Brien still have a job in pro football? His continuing employment is proof that Snyder is not the dumbest owner in the NFL. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
At halftime, with his squad trailing an NFC East rival 17-7, Rivera received an IV treatment. That left halftime speech duties to someone else. Haskins filled the void.
“Apparently, Dwayne stepped up, and it was a pretty (raucous) one from what I understand,” Rivera said after winning his Washington coaching debut. “Very encouraging,” cornerback Jimmy Moreland said. “It made us feel like we’ve got to support (Dwayne). He’s (the) quarterback of our team. He’s the leader of our team. When he stepped up and said that it made us feel like we’ve got to get behind him.” That is great to hear |

Getting to the playoffs has probably put off the inevitable. But that's largely talent related than coaching if you ask me. Imagine what RR or McVay could do with that roster... |

He will. He progressed even within the Week 1 game too, compare his stats in the second half to the bad first half. Dwayne knows he has a cannon arm and takes a lot of risks he shouldn't with that arm...so he'll always make some ugly mistakes, but I also think the number of incredible throws he makes will continue to increase. He and McLaurin are going to be something very special to watch over their careers. |

I can't help thinking that's not an ability thing, more that he hasn't needed to before. He's no Dan Marino at least, as the running game goes.:) |

^^ this tweet video is of our 1st TD to TE Logan, showing how he got so wide open. Pre snap we put our lone left outside WR in motion, which causes the D to shift, leaving one D man lined up on Thomas. But at snap our RB breaks out wide and the D man goes to cover the RB (I guess thinking he stillhad help) and lets Logan run right by him for an easy TD. I imagine if the D guy had stayed on Logan, haskins has an easy pitch to the RB. Well designed, forcing the D to shuffle right before snap then forcing a D guy to make a decision. Haskins reads the decision and makes an easy toss either way. https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1305315986866876416?s=20 ^^ 2 mins of film on Wentz last 4 throws of the 1st half. on these throws, he had time and guys open just inaccurate or late. |
