I though KVN was more of a 3-4 LB?

Not sure. But to be released one year into that nice contract does speak to something...just don't think he's worth pursuing as he probably doesn't do anything to upgrade the LB position. I'd rather let Bostic roll for one more year in the system. |

I honestly don't know much about the current KVN, but I do want an upgrade at LB. I was highly disappointed by Bostic last year. |

I think it’s safe to say it’s already well out of reach. >50% super bowl participation rate over a 19 year career is unfathomable. |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Cook was released by the Saints could be a good back-up to Thomas (Additionally these guys that are being released don't count against the comp formula when signed).

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Las Vegas?
Seems weird.
In terms of offense, the Raiders have some good pieces (RB/WR/TE) that would attract any QB. He would have to get through Mahomes and Chiefs for the division, but they'd be instantly a playoff team. I think the Saints are the best option, I just don't know if/how they'd be able to afford him (same goes for the Cowpukes). Chicago would be interesting as well. Aside from Dallas though, his other options would put him in competition with some very good QBs (Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady). Also, why are so people so touchy/bitchy about RW wanting to leave Seattle? Good for him. Let him go somewhere where he doesn't have to carry the team and won't get sacked almost 50 times (Raiders, Bears, and Saints did a good job protecting their QBs). |

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Chris Simms turning heads out there ranking Zach Wilson ahead of Lawrence, plus putting Mac Jones AND Kellen Mond ahead of Fields and Lance. He's been right in the last 3 years a lot more than he's been wrong...should be interesting.

Mond plays a lot like Kaepernick did. Great athlete, nice arm but isn’t the most accurate. He does have upside tho and I wouldn’t mind grabbing him |

I’ve been saying recently that I’m higher on Jones than Fields so I’m not surprised. Something just doesn’t sit well with me about Fields. I think he’s going to be with his drafting team for his rookie contract only like a lot of other highly touted QB prospects. |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Disagree on Lawrence.
I'm with him on Fields for sure. I don't trust his arm strength and I really don't think he's that great of an athlete. I like Mond and Trask more than most. I'd have them 4th and 3rd respectively. Lawrence Wilson Trask Mond Jones Lance Fields for me. |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
QB Rankings always crack me up regarding the draft.. Its a crap shoot and for most of these guys it all depends on schemes

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
I must admit, I do find myself wondering why more college's don't run pro style offensive schemes. Surely it would serve them and their players to be more NFL ready than other programmes?

I guess it comes down to why would a college coach care about getting a guy ready for the pros? How does it help him win his conference? Plus in college they just don't have the time with limited practice schedules to install complicated offenses. |

This was actually one of the things against Lawrence by Simms...he said due to Clemson's talent, their offense was very basic...very few reads for the QB...Ohio State the same way. However, didn't seem to hurt Watson. |

It seems to me that accuracy is extremely important for an NFL QB. I don't like the idea of drafting an athletic QB who can't throw straight. |

Per NFL Update @MySportsUpdafe
“BREAKING: #Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has retired from the NFL after an amazing 16 year career. Across 8 different teams, the one known as “Fitzmagic” has finished playing at the professional level” This is why social media sucks. So much fake information out there. |

That record is already out of reach for our lifetimes. Think about the best qb's in the game today that still have enough of a career left to sniff 7, your Mahomes/Allens/Watsons (not including Wilson and Rodgers because they have one title each and I don't see them winning 6 titles in under a decade). Mahomes just lost and the other two haven't even sniffed a title game. It's unrealistic to think any of them could even get closer than 3-4 titles because Brady is the outlier in all of NFL history. What qb has the most rings behind Brady? It's Montana/Bradshaw with 4 each. I could write a short story on this but let's wrap it up. Brady is one title away from doubling up on the next closest guy in the entire 80 year history of the league. He's untouchable. |

History has shown though, that even records that seem impossible to break, get broken eventually. But yeah, probably not this one in our lifetimes. |

They don't view themselves as farm leagues for NFL, LOL. They have a new starting QB every 3-4 years. You dumb down the system so it can be quickly and easily learned and mastered rapidly. Without talent over the field, as in NFL, also easier to exploit matchups which spread etc. makes way easier. |

A lot of NFL teams have new coaches/schemes/QBs every 3-4 years too. I still have never understood why the NFL hasn’t created a developmental team for each NFL franchise in smaller market cities. They would make a fortune in additional revenue. |

I'm not talking about an NFL playbook, at least not a full one. I've coached over here and with the amateur level of players, we manage at least some playbooks with a simple progressive read and/or receiver option routes. US college kids are not idiots and if they are they probably won't make it in the Pro's anyway (at least not at QB). I'm sure that they all go to play college ball with 2 main aims 1) get an education 2) get a chance at the NFL. I see no harm in at least making some effort to give them a better chance in the NFL. That's an education/job opportunity too. |

There are a couple of records in sports that seem hard to imagine being broken. Brady’s is one (Ted Williams batting over .400 in a season might be another). Particularly given how hard it is for NFL teams to stay together, it seems incredibly unlikely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

NCAA football is a business, not a charity. Coaches make MILLIONS, and they are doing whatever it takes to win. The schemes that allow them to win are not NFL type schemes in most cases, period. Most U.S. college kids are idiots, education in this country at all but the elite 7 of 8 schools is a farce, and there is reams of data proving this fact. At most big programs, players regularly graduate unable to write a functional paragraph or multiply. I agree idiots can't succeed as NFL QB, and I think lack of mental acuity and mental speed is a key reason many running prospects who never had to move past a 2nd or 3rd progression bust. They simply can never process the game fast enough mentally, and I don't think the Wonderlic or similar instruments accurately test for the kind of intelligence an NFL QB needs. We could talk about what should be all day long. Here's what is: College coaches want to keep their jobs and avoid real jobs selling insurance or whatever. They thus play the system that allows them the best chance to win, and for a host of reasons, this is not NFL style systems in most cases. |

Probably not. College team support is almost a cult. Why should the NFL pay for a developmental farm league when the corrupt NCAA and farcical American education system provide one for free? You aren't thinking like enough of a corporate shyster. A lot of teams NFL do have new schemes every 3-4 years, but not the ones that win consistently. :-) Especially under the new CBA, where practice is so limited. |
Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Per John Clayton from ESPN, Ryan Ftizpatrick is considering retirement.. If so, that's one QB less in the QB market filled with non-starter QBs and Dak.

No, they wouldn't. The bulk of the NFL's revenue comes from TV money. That kind of revenue just doesn't exist at the local level. The NFL would have to financially support a developmental league which would undoubtedly operate at a loss. That's why so many leagues come and go, without that TV money it's almost impossible for them to just break even. |

@RapSheet "A storyline to follow going forward: If the official salary cap number doesn’t come today and soon, NFL will have to move back the deadline to franchise tag players from Tuesday.
