And he dropped Cam like a bad habit. Cam is the size of a LB and Chase treated him like a toy. He’s going to destroy some people this year. Can’t wait. Danny Jones, I hope you have good health insurance. You too Dak.

I hope when we win the coin toss we elect to kick first so our D can go out and set the tone (and get us good field position).

DelRio must be in heaven with this personnel group.

Favorite play = Magic gets absolutely drilled the play before, and drops a perfect back shoulder throw to Thomas the next play on 3rd and 10

Least favorite plays = Dustin Hopkins still being a little bitch.

Hopkins is Aniston in The Office. He does the absolute bare minimum to keep his job. Dude has no flare.

I'm actually not sure it was Apke's fault on this one. He has outside contain, he over commits a bit but it's mainly on either #24 Chris Miller or #45 Justin Phillips (or both) for bumping into each other and leaving E gap open.
Not great angle by #46 Cole Luke either.

(Don't get me wrong, I hope we move on from Apke, but that one isn't on him IMHO)

Thanks a lot man. I actually have a quite limited football knowledge, when I listen to Cooley, or read Mark Bullock's breakdown, or even watch a bit of NFL GamePass film session, I have a glimpse of just how much I don't know about this sport.
I just happen to love it a lot, and a bit more with every snap I watch ^^

(As for the video, my job had me learn basic video editing skills, so when I know what to look for the whole process takes about 4 minutes, while doing something else)

I know how to post a YouTube video here that someone else made. That's my video knowledge lol.

I don't read in depth about other teams but Bullock has to be one of the best in the business. His stuff is always great. Always look forward to his breakdowns.

The more I'm looking at it, the more I'm pretty positive it's mainly on #24 for having the wrong gap, with the flow going to the left, he needs to be outside of #88, not inside IMO. Would need the All 22 to be (close to) sure about it, but safety #46 doesn't seem to take a very good angle either.

I think it’s a combination of Apke’s fault for widening too far, and 45’s fault for trying to flow under the action with a direct route to the ballcarrier.

The Pats TE was uncovered and he immediately comes off the line to block 24. And 24 appropriately steps up to take him on. 45 should have seen that and flowed over it but he steps forward and gets caught in the wash.

Meanwhile Apke had outside contain but he tries to hook around the lineman and avoid contact like a little bitch. His responsibility there is to charge straight at that lineman and get low, he needs to take out the lineman’s feet so the hole is just a little more narrow. By widening out he just gave the back a bigger lane and did the lineman’s job for him. Apke continues to make mistakes with angles, this is a prime example. Playing in the NFL takes courage and that play lacked it.

Yeah Apke is too wide, but the main eff up is between #24 and #45, isn't it ?

From a gap responsibility standpoint I thought #24 was at fault, but the way you lay it out makes sense. I still feel like if #24 takes on the block more on the outside, #45 has a clearer lane while staying in his gap. What do you think?

Overall not good football for sure. Including Apke.

I think it is safe to say that Mclaurin is going to get a lot of balls thrown his way.

Also that kid from Buffalo looks pretty legit. That could be a real gem right there.

I can't take another year of Dustin Hopkins.

#57 Bunmi Rotini is the left DE. It is his responsibility not to get hooked and beat to the outside. Plus if you continue watching him he gets pushed off the line of scrimmage 5 yards by a TE. Massive fail.

Fitz looks good, dude was out there slinging it.

Terry could have 100 Catches this yr.

Brown will be WR2 in no time.

AG is poised for a HUGE season

Logan Thomas looks good

Defense is scary.

Hopkins sucks

Julie D is super hot

That's all I got

I hate to rain on Dyami Brown's parade, but we're paying Curtis Samuel a ton of money to get bumped down the depth chart.

I don't care whether Brown is #2 or not as long as he makes an impact when he's on the field.

I don't know that depth chart position matters as much as can Scott Turner use all 3 effectively.

I am more nervous about the Chargers game after last night - not because of talent but because I remember all the slow starts from the offense last year regardless of qb. I would like to see Turner put together a first drive TD. The players have to execute obviously.

Samuel really isn't a traditional X or Z WR that you line up outside all the time anyway. He's going be all over including the slot and backfield.

I would assume your outside receivers see more snaps than your slot receivers (unless you have a McLaurin that can play the slot or outside).

Just don't think Dyami is going to see as many snaps as Curtis Samuel, based on experience and salary.

I've been waiting 8 months for WFT football to happen, and I knew the field of dreams game highlights would be everywhere anyways.

No big loss to me, esp. considering they will most likely make this a yearly thing anyways given the success.

The competition he faces in practice everyday Young and Sweat is way better than what he will encounter in most games and teams. That is going help him and the rest of the O-Line to improve and be ready.

100% correct. Always coached that, as a DB, if you can see the back of your own players shirt between you and the BC then you've taken a bad angle. #24 should angle more to the sideline (Apke does do his outside contain job pretty well) rather than aiming off the DE's hip, so he meets the BC in the hole. #46 should flow parallel to the LOS until he sees the BC turn upfield, so he'd have the cut back if #24 forces the BC back. He's gone too shallow and got caught up in the wash. Have to see if they have learned lessons in game 2.

Does everyone feel like I do…I’ve seen enough from Terry, Gibson, Logan Thomas, Chase young, Jon Allen, D Payne…maybe even Humpy (vet who doesn’t need to prove). Those are the guys who are pivotal young talent who can continue mesh in camp but not risk injury in games.

I def wouldn’t play Young again…

There is limited upside to playing them, the first string offense seemed to be quite in sync from the start of the game, but there is also the chance to get a good start on the season if they are ready from the first whistle, which is needed given the schedule. The run defense and the safeties tackling looks like they need to get as much work as possible.
Herbert and several other major players won't be taking any snaps in preseason for the Chargers, they will take time to get up to game speed Wk1. Danny Dimes is also not playing this week. Starting 2-0 is important if they are going to really challenge for the division this year.

Yeah last game no starters should play.

The next game:

I can see the argument for wanting to see Fitz command the offense for a drive or 2…Oline continuing to mesh with a couple new Tackles, secondary and Linebackers needing to see action to work on communication as a unit against live action…but other than that I feel like chill mode on injury risk especially with young guys.

Darius Guice going out for the year couple years ago really helped destroy the offense…I def think Gibson, Terry…and no-depth-behind-him Logan Thomas should sit

Feels like we're kinda ignoring the part of preseason is to help our key guys get their conditioning ready to play 4 quarters. You can't just go from playing 1 quarter worth of snaps in the preseason to 4 quarters in the regular season.

I thought the idea behind 3 preseason games was to basically eliminate the 4th game where no starters played anyways. The first 3 preseason games should follow the routine of previous years, i.e. the 3rd preseason game your starters should play 3 quarters so they're ready for week 1.

All great points…I just don’t know if the cost benefit for guys who were here last year in a new system and are proven.

There is simply no way anyone I stated above on the field rest of the preseason.
