Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
And many had a mid second round grade on Howell.
This works. We need to address LB though ... in a big way. |

Demarco Jackson maybe?

Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Like the Howell pick. Getting a guy who kinda remind me of a Henike type with a better arm.
|
Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Cole Turner. Another offensive weapon.
The 4th and 5th rounds have been absolutely beautiful imo. |
Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Solid pick. Great 5th round.

Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Don't mind the Howell pick, never bad to have a developmental qb on the roster, but we still have a major hole at MLB and only two 7th rounders left. Surely there has to be some plan to address this.

Figure we need an olineman too as well. |

Unless they plan on Jamin taking that step this year |

Well, at this point, we will absolutely need him to. Still wondering whether we might do more at that position. We seem awfully thin. Maybe they think Hudson will expand his role too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They already admitted he isn't a MLB, will give Cole Holcombe a shot at it |

This - it takes too long for Davis to diag the play. Getting a MLB that can ID the play quickly would be a double bonus because it would free up Davis to play weakside where he's better suited. |
Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Blurb here about Cole turner
His receiving production spiked after converting to tight end in 2020. Despite the position change, Turner played 99% of his snaps in the slot or out wide as a junior. He played 15% of his snaps inline in 2021, but still spent 58% of his snaps in the slot and 27% out-wide. Essentially a big wide receiver, Turner was able to log a 111-1,282-19 receiving line in his final 20 games. Turner was particularly impressive as a touchdown scorer, producing 35% of Nevada's touchdowns in 2020 and 30% in 2021. Big target! |

We have a 6th rounder I thought |

figured thats where he'd be just was throwing out a possible albeit unwanted scenario |

That was included in the trade fror the 2 5th rounders |
Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Maybe Shaka Toney is moving to LB?? He was kinda a hybrid, or at least thought to be, when we drafted him last year.
Still ... I would have preferred we drafted a LB rather than a TE in the 5th. 2 draft spots left --- Gotta be OLINE and LINEBACKER. For some reason, we have done really well in the 7th round. Hopefully we can keep that up. |

Not sure it would make a difference but I hope he takes a cue from Jahan Dotson and starts carrying the ball everywhere until he gets comfortable with it. |

Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Getting the D-Tackle a year early to play behind and eventually replace Payne. Smart move. It took me a day, but I’m coming around on that strategy.

Me too, he looks pretty useful too and a real team first guy as you would expect from Ron |
Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Looks like Payne will be playing out his final year here. Not necessarily a bad thing. Not always going to keep every player on a 2nd a contract. Hopefully he can have his best year yet so he can earn a fat contact and help us win more games.

Watch some of the youtube videos (if you haven’t already) he manhandled everyone and is energetic. |
Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
At least when Carson goes down in week 3 with a busted knee because of field is made of pudding, we can watch Howell sail balls and miss wide open guys while looking totally lost.

Mathis probably gets 30-40% of the snaps at DT this year. I don't really view him as a backup in the traditional sense. He probably won't be starting right away, but they are all rotational guys. |

Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Who do we want from the remaining players? What’s the story with JoJo Domann? Seems like he should have been drafted earlier, but could play the buffalo.

Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Chris Paul, another good pick.
I have liked to loved every pick today. One more to go. |

Ended up being a pretty dang good draft imo. Now to scour the UDFA market for some linebackers to bring to camp. Should be a pretty high destination based on our current group. Hopefully 1 can stick. |
Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
Never heard of our last pick, but CB was a position we could add another body.
Ended up drafting every position of need, except for LB. Wouldn't have minded a OT either, but bringing Lucas back made that a bit more of a luxury. |

Still a few more picks to go, but if Sterling Weatherford is not drafted, he is my top UDFA want.

Re: The 2022 Washington Commanders draft thread
I like the draft. Not sure a rotational DL in the second was a great move, but Mathis is a beast none the less. Could have gotten Paynes replacement next year if that was the plan here. Overall I think we got some real interesting pieces.
