Re: Sam howell takes Down Dallas postgame
Well I have been calling for Howell for weeks along with others including SF the president of his fan club. So not hindsight. And I don’t remember anyone saying Carson is the guy. Lol.
Didn’t Dallas have a chance to win the division? If they were conceding to the Eagles I find it hard to believe they would have started everyone. We surprised them and kicked their asses. Depends what you mean by draft picks. Im not sold on anyone coming out this year. Howell was projected as a first rounder for alot of his time in college. He was a little off senior year. Maybe a little gun shy thinking he didn’t want to get injured and ruin his shot? He played for UNC so what was the best thing he had to play for an ACC coastal division championship shot at Clemson? I think teams were a little afraid of his height at 6-1. That is dumb. Howell was an absolute steal in the fifth round. Im not giving up serious picks and an unknown for another unknown. At least I saw Howell play an NFL game and look extremely solid. So no im not pulling that trigger. Not for someone who isn’t a Trevor Lawrence. And there is no Trevor Lawrence coming out.
Bryce Young is supposed to be this years stud and he’s built like a twig and is even shorter than Howell. Be interesting to see where he goes in the draft. |

Fire Turner, fix the line, and let's go!!!
That sounds like what I saw. Here's hoping this team is turning a page in its history. |

Yeah no thanks. I like Levis better. T- Rich better. Hell no on Stroud. OSU quarterbacks scare the hell out of me. The recipe is simple for our offense. Build the oline. Get a good OC. |

People will look at Howell and compare him to TH but he's on another level than Taylor. I want him to be our QB1 and our future so bad lol but I also don't trust RR as a QB guy so he may not be the Starter longterm. We will see

We got plenty of time and a lot of the options available are still unknown. id prefer 1. Adding a functional tier 2 vet QB, Carr being the bottom of that tier. I do not want to go the Wentz/Fitzpatrick route of adding a non functional vet. I know Carr isnt popular but hes functional. Something we havent had since Cousins. ^^ probably not likely as these guys rarely are made available during their functional years. I dont want a old vet like Matt Ryan, a former functional QB who is now no functional. 2. Trade up in the draft for one of the 4 top 10 QB prospects. 3. Ride Howell, go one game below .500, and have this same discussion next year. -------------------------- Easier to say what I dont want. I want out of the mediocrity death roll. Guys like Allen/Terry make it impossible to lose 12 or more games, but no QB makes it impossible to go to the playoffs. I dont need another Sweat or Jamin Davis. |

Also what are we giving up to take that risk? That imo leaves Option 3. Roll with Sam. I just disagree with him being our quarterback and seeing the same results or even worse (1 game under .500) that we did this year. The fact that you think he wouldn’t be a better option than Taylor, or even Wentz is questionable to say the least. We “should” have a better D next year if we address LB and CB. Young will be fully healthy. We certainly “should” still have our RB’s and WR’s intact. See to me the question isn’t Sam as much as it is who is calling the shots when it comes to personnel. Who is calling the plays? Who is the HC? But even if we ran it back with this same exact team and staff ( [emoji2961] ) I see Sam as an upgrade. Imo if Sam came in for that first Giants game and played the last month our season would not be over. |

Howell may surprise us but we need the right people around him. See the 49’ers. |

Interesting article from 2021 that looks at trading up for "your guy" It had been done 29 times in the common draft era with mixed results.

Re: Sam howell takes Down Dallas postgame
Andrew Brandt always talks about the conflict between the front office (planning for the future) vs coaching staff (planning for now). With new ownership and Snyder's f*ckery out of the way, I'm curious to see some of that in play next year.
While a new owner won't make changes right away, I'm sure there will be some push back on making a big trade, either up in the draft or for a veteran, this offseason. I guess this would depend on the timeline of when a new owner can take charge of the team and when free agency/the draft happens. |

Re: Sam howell takes Down Dallas postgame
With Howell it is not just the arm, his ball placement is light years ahead of Heinicke and Wentz, that allowed Terry and Jahan to run after the catch, also contributed to a couple of the drops as they were getting a little to eager to head upfield knowing the ball was going to arrive when it was supposed to. Directly contributed to Terrys touchdown. Still cant fathom how you start a rookie QB to "take a look" in a meaningless game and only have him pass the ball 19 times. A couple of PI should also be added to the evaluation of his completion/yardage stats
To be fair, he had 25 dropbacks out of 63 plays, which is about the right formula for this team. He was sacked three times and decided to run three times. I think it was a balance of evaluating Howell while also trying to win the game. He looked pretty good overall, minus that one terrible INT, and most importantly, he answered the question as to whether he should be in the conversation next year. He should be, and he very well may be "the guy" going forward, but there should also be a legitimate competition. You can't conclusively say he's the guy after 25 dropbacks/19 passes, five rushes, one TD, and one INT. |

I mean there is definitely a little blind faith involved moving forward. I saw enough to say let’s roll the dice and not give up picks to move up for anyone coming out this year. Probably enough to pass on someone who falls to us and take oline or cb or something else we need. If we take someone in the fourth or Fifth again like maybe the kid out of byu (forget his name) and let them battle it out thats fine. |
Re: Sam howell takes Down Dallas postgame
All this talk about retread qb's and I'm like - I'd rather bring in someone cheap as a backup and let Howell/Heinicke/3rd person duke it out for the starting job, then use those savings to rebuild the offensive line from scratch. Trading any high picks looks bad to me right now considering how Watson and Russ Wilson looked. If the draft class is weak I don't see the point in drafting any of them higher than the 3rd round.
We kinda already know Ron is sticking around because why would Dan want to pay his salary with one foot out the door. Ron needs to let Scott Turner go. It will be tough on Howell having to learn another system but its obvious there are a lot of players who have an issue with Turner's playcalling. No need to spend big money on anyone this year with Snyder hopefully selling. That is the big domino. |

We this year proved that no way of finding a QB is safe from a huge swing and miss, we knew already that about the draft, we experienced it first hand with the "cheap retread with a high ceiling" approach, and we now know that even the "sell the house for a HoFer" isn't 100% safe... We have a kid here that is worth trying out, fix the team around him, bring some other QB(s) any way you can as long as it's not expensive, and see where it goes. |

no, they just have database table with the logos. Just change it in that one place and all the articles referring to a team use the new one. |

Had no idea. I googled it to find out how much smaller and found this… As for the football used: In overall circumference, college footballs can be up to 1-1/4 inches smaller than NFL footballs. To get more detailed, the circumference of a college football ranges from 20-3/4 inches to 21-1/4 inches lengthwise from end to end, vs. the 21 inches to 21-1/4 inches in the NFL. So the balls actually vary in size in college and the pros? Thats crazy. |

It is kind of funny for a league that is so anal about things that this isn't a big deal. They will literally stop the momentum of the game and disrupt crowd involvement for 15 minutes to decide to put or take of 1 second or if a receivers toes were a quarter of an inch one way or the other but the ball circumference, which can actually have a difference there is wiggle room. |

As a retired QB, and by retired I mean not good enough to ever sniff pro-ball lol, I can attest that the NCAAF and NFL footballs are completely different. I preferred the college football myself. But I threw that one way more. I just had a NFL ball as a personal football, never had to use it in a game. |
