Re: Jets contact Skin's
Dan Patrick show reporting the new, new rumor is PR is viewed as the long term answer for the Jets. They expect PR and his agent, Jimmy Sexton to turn up the heat on the Skins to cut a deal
Wow, I wonder if #87 is pushing for this up there. |
Re: Jets contact Skin's
Does Ramsey become an unrestricted free agant after this season?
No, contract runs through 2006. |
Re: Pastabelly chat
What was AJ Feeley worth to the Dolphins? A second round pick? I can't imagine Ramsey can actually be worth less than that
|
Re: Jets contact Skin's
I agree that we need a competant BU, as Brunell probably won't last all season and naturally, we will need him fresh for the Superbowl. However, If they are thinking of dealing PR, they won't take the first offer unless it is sweet. I'm sure the Skins will want to sweat em' a little, and PR, and agent can put some heat on the Jets as well. Will be interesting for the next day or so.

I agree, the Jets are desperate and desperate times call for desperate measures. I do not think we are done with this story yet. I still say Ramsey is worth more to us this season than anything less than a first round pick next season. |
Re: Jets contact Skin's
This is great we are having the same discussion on the two top threads...HELP!!!
|
Re: Pastabelly chat
if we trade ramsey we could potentially be in the same position that the team we traded him to is. that is, the top two QBs get hurt and you're left with a mutt. i doubt that we're ready to just throw campbell in there. some feel that brunell is the better QB and others ramsey. at this point it's nice to have a good backup (whoever you feel that backup should be).
i feel ramsey will stay for the season. |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb!
vinny wants to play, and now he'll be able to be the unquestioned starter... I think that's more important to him than personal grudges, its a game for the young and he got old on them.
|
Re: Jets contact Skin's
if ramsey is the guy they really want then we can get something more than a 4th rounder hopefully :P
why wouldn't they aim for rivers or leinhart instead though? kitna is old but pretty good... and the best backup is on the titans, but with mcnair so close to completely breaking down, I can see why they'd want to hold him for now. |
Re: Pastabelly chat
if its a 1st or 2nd or a player that could start here, i'd definately consider it... this trade (whether it happens or not) depends a lot on how good sexton is at getting his client's wishes.
|
Re: Pastabelly chat
Please, not another Jets - Ramsey debate.
I think we have that thread well established already. |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
Rivers and Leinhart are college QB's that won't be any good in the NFL for couple of years. The Jets want somebody ready right now. They have a good D and a playoff team; their window for getting to SB is now. They do not have time to groom a rookie. They may want Ramsey this year and up their offer.
Gibbs and Snyderatto should send Ramsey over to the Jets for a work out. I think Ramsey could impress them with his arm strength. Gibbs did give up on QB Jay Schroeder and traded him to the Raiders for Jim Lachey. |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
pennington blew out the rotator cuff. i just want to say that i like ramsey, i have wanted and want ramsey to succeed here. but, i 'm not the coach and i defer to gibbs completely. does that mean he's correct 100% of the time. no, but we all know that he does things out of his desire to see this team succeed. let's remember he's staked his name on this. he didn't have to come back. but i am sure glad he did.C'mon Skins

Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
Looking ahead to QBs possibly available in the offseason-how long do the Bucs plan on keeping both Griese and Chris Simms? And what are the Bears going to do with Grossman/Orton? Will they both stay?
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
I would think they would be able to afford them both if they all play well.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
We can't get rid of Ramsey during the season. We need a capable backup.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
simms and orton aren't exactly high priced... and neither griese or grossman have the type of deals brees or rivers have i don't believe.

Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
It's kind of ironic that all of a sudden a QB who hold's the ball to long, throws to many INT's, has glue on the bottom of his cleets, can't beat out a QB who has 2 100 yd passing games in his last seven games, is now a capable backup, you mean to tell me a top flight rookie like Campbell can't back up a QB of Brunell's capabilities? We all know Gibbs really likes Bryson Spinner, he has spoke very well of him in the pre-season, it's funny how valuable Ramsey is all of a sudden, I really don't understand why? Didn't any of you see that Giant game last year he threw 3 INT's, we can't afford to keep a player around who did something like that, why wouldn't we want to get whatever we can for him? 2,3,4, whatever, it's better than nothing, it's not like his value is going to go up sitting on the bench, it wont be higher in the off season, if theres any chance of getting any value for Ramsey it's right now, the Jets are desperate, it's not like Gibbs will overestimate his talent, unless you want to look at Rod Gardner as an example, but I think that should be thrown out as just one of those things and shouldn't really count now.
I don't understand the reasoning? Gibbs wont let the guy sniff the field because he stinks, yet he wont trade him because he doesn't stink, I would think it would be addition by subtraction, we would be better without him, and the Jet's would be worse with him. What is the fascination with Ramsey, didn't anyone watch him play for 19 minutes against the Bears, that's all we needed to see to know this guy doesn't belong in the NFL! |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
This might come to a shock to some of us but we may be in the playoff hunt soon, we have a chance, we can be 3-0 by sunday and then have to go 6-7 the rest of the year to have a good shot. Brunell has to go another 14 straight games(hopefully not only 14) and the chance that old bag gets injured is not low, if he does get hurt at our mid point where we might even have 6 games we can't throw away the season just because he is out 6 weeks, Ramsey can come back in and lead then team to 3-4 wins the rest of the season.
I would only get rid of Ramsey for a first rounder, that is unlikly to happen and if reports say the most that we get for him is a 4th then he is gonna sit on the bench and wait. |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
I seem to remember stating that I think Ramsey is good enough to start with any team, including the Redskins, but the fact is - being able to start and being a leader are two different things. So, it's quite reasonable to say that Ramsey is an extremely capable backup.

Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
Offiss,
I know you support Joe Gibbs and his decision to start Brunell over Ramsey and I don't mean to get into that debate. But, if you trust Gibbs, what do you have say about Gibbss apparent unwillingness to even entertain a trade with the Jets for Ramsey? If Campbell is such a quality backup quarterback, why wouldn't Gibbs love to trade Ramsey? Do you now doubt Gibbs? |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
Anyone know enough about the Jets GM/coach situation to say wether they are on the "hot seat"?
I only ask because if the GM or coach feel they must win this year or lose their jobs, what they will pay for a proven starter is much higher. If the GM can afford to lose badly this season he might put himself in a possition to draft high for a rookie QB who can start or make an offseason trade. However if the Jets feel this is their last shot or be fired they may make an offer we can't refuse. Personally I think the Skins shouldn't take anything less than a 1st rounder or better, because Brunell has a history of injury. Remember how much you pay for anything is based on supply and demand. While some belive PR isn't worth more then a 3rd or 4th round pick, perhaps the JETS will give up much more for him. |

If Campbell is such a quality backup quarterback, why wouldn't Gibbs love to trade Ramsey? Do you now doubt Gibbs?
Blasphemour! How can you in good conscience doubt a man with 3 rings? Gibbs is as perfect today as he was 12 years ago, don't try to tell me that he's lost a little off the fast ball just because he was away from the game for 12 years the man is a genious. Why wont he trade Ramsey you ask? It is not for us to reason why when it comes to Gibbs, only that the reason is unbenounced to us, our finite minds weren't designed to understand a Gibbs offense, or his talent evaluation methods, I find it imbisilic in nature to even attempt such thought, Gibbs plan will be revealed when the time is right, only then when he feels we are prepared to digest all his offensive game planning will he allow us understanding. As for Campbell we only gave up next years draft for this kid, it's not like we are mortgaging the future on a project, now if we gave up let's say all our draft picks over the coarse of the next 3 years I may be inclined to agree with you, but that's just not the case, giving up next years draft for a projected second rd. talent is sheer genious if the kid gets on the field by 2007, again another brillant move on Gibbs part. So in part Ramseyfan let me say this, until you are prepared to be a TRUE fan of my team, and support Gibbs in every decision, and stop being a fan of Ramsey, and start being a redskin fan, I am banning you from further banter with myself, I find it childish, and beneath me at best! :cheeky-sm Gibbsfan, now a little subtle change in your screen name can go a long way in helping you understand the way's of GIBBS, remember admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery, try not to be to hard on yourself none of us are NFL coaches, and none of us have SB rings, we can't be expected to know anything about football, so just relax and roll with it baby! I am!:party-smi |

Well I guess it might be a moot point as the Jets signed Vinnie again.

Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
Probably could end this thread unless someone wants to post who the Jets hired, cause ain't no way in hell we're giving up Ramsey or Campbell at this point in the season.
|
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
Never, say never my friend. We're talking about our same beloved Redskins that said during the draft that they had no intention in moving up to draft J.Campbell. And looked what happened.
My point is, whether we trade Ramsey or not, every thing that a team say's publicly has little to do with what they may be actually doing and saying behind closed doors. |
Re: Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)
I saw something on espn.com a little bit ago that the skins told the Jets they could take there looking for a qb elsewhere. so i guess that solves that.
