Strong reasoning to not pay a guy you already paid $19m last year and are on the hook for $24m this? Not sure I'm seeing it.
Exactly, you already given him 45 million basically and could have been signed 2 years ago to a LT deal with this as the guaranteed money. Now, it's more like 55-70mil guaranteed to get it done. |

Yes, but half of us were on board with the Redskins not signing Kirk Cousins to a LTD right after 2015. I'm pretty sure if we went back into those threads, more than half of us would have said the 'skins would have been crazy to sign Cousins to a huge deal after a half of a good 2015 campaign. It's just what it is. Cousins bet on himself. The Redskins wanted to make sure he's worth the money. Cousins played pretty well in 2016, the 'skins are splitting hairs. He's got about 12 more minutes to sign. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
So Cousins was given an offer similar to Derek Carr?
Redskins president Bruce Allen's statement to the media regarding QB Kirk Cousins: Granted this is coming from the team, but I like that they talk about guaranteed money (which matters). |

I'm not even mad about this as a stand alone event, but its just part of the overall accumulative clusterfuck that always seems to float over this franchise. |

Perfect analogy. Face it!!! We are hooked on Redskins!!!! Hopefully this will pan out with us keeping him, but odds are he is gone. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
From Andrew Brandt:
Andrew Brandt @AndrewBrandt 1m1 minute ago More Deal offered by @Redskins added 5 years (6 total) with $29M more guaranteed than $24M scheduled. So $1M more than Transition Tag next year. |

It very well means that KC doesn't want to be in DC and he has no plans to negotiate with the team in 2018. Fuck that guy. |

Which makes sense, if he (Cousins) is willing to gamble on playing for the tag and 24 mil guaranteed, instead of 53 mil guaranteed (and 72 mil guaranteed for injury). |

What will really suck, is if he goes off this year and we make a run in the playoffs, I know probably won't happen, BUT if he does....and he really don't want to be here then that will be like a slap in the face.... |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Skins - good job putting the statement out there to try and get ahead of the PR. Bruce's statement of "at least the second highest paid player by average by year in NFL history" means his avg per year was in the 24M range.
Carr - 25M; Luck 24.5; Palmer 24.3; Brees 24.2 (2017 salaries). Cousins - I think you played yourself. Hard to say to a guy making guaranteed 23.9M this year but one bad injury and youre done. One down year .... a team might still give you big money. Im a big Cousins fan .... but this doesnt look good for him, if the skins offered what they say they offered. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Fuck Kirk Cousins. They should have just traded his ass. Better yet, just tag him again just to piss him off.
That offer was more than acceptable. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
I would agree if those numbers are in fact true then KC has to go. That seems like a fair deal and if he turned it down then he is obviously trying to force the Redskins hand.
Maybe KC is bitter at the organization for low balling him in previous years. Maybe he really dislikes working for Dan and Bruce. We've all has bosses that we'd disliked. Maybe he didn't like the entire ordeal with Griffin and how he was coddled. At this point on KC knows... He'll be on Grant and Danny tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what he has to say. |
