Any name they choose could be seen as a Arena team name or whatever… I would say there are a lot of teams named the wolves etc … The Name will he what Washington makes it by Wins …I originally hated WFT but now I like it .. here is a thought If the WFT were to somehow get to playoffs and Win it all would they change the Name ??

I really don't get why we should assume it'll be Commanders... Did I miss something or is the only "evidence" supporting this rumor a written comment on SNS saying somebody knows somebody working at New Era ?

I will need more to believe it. They went through all this process and all, and I never saw Commanders having any real fans support. Warriors did, that's out. Renegades does a little bit. Hogs/WarHogs has some... And obviously Redwolves/Wolves leads the pack. I know the rebranding isn't an online popularity contest, but Commanders still feels like an outsider in this race.

Yet Wolves gets zero media leakage. My Wolf-fandom wants to say that's because they have the truth locked up tight, but that is not the history of DS' team.

Well if you wanna go this way they have thrown a lot of wolves related hints out there too... It makes sense that they'd be trying to see some fans reactions to their options, but I don't see what makes Commanders so much likely than the other ones.

I still believe it will be Wolves based on the Making the brand videos and the packaging of them.

Just want them to announce it so it is over with.

Doesn't really matter to me and from what I've seen many others - whatever they come up with we'll just ignore it and continue calling them the Redskins (Hey it seems even some former Cowboy QBs are on board with that approach).

By the way .. Attended game Monday night .. it was fun at end some drunk Seahawk fan wanted to fight the guy beside me other than that it was cool .. damn beer is pricey !! I told the drunk seahawk fan. .. you are just pissed you spent your weeks pay on beer tonight 😳😀

People like JP Finlay and some others connected to the team have been saying it's going to be Commanders for a while now. I don't think fan support means much big picture. And wolves definitely seems out now.

Redwolves was never going to happen... It's already used with Ark State and if I remember correctly they were in a legal fight with someone else already that was trying to use that name.

But Commanders is really the one that would disappoint me the most...

You know I'm all in on Redwolves/Wolves, but:

-Defenders, Renegade, Armada, Sentinels etc... I could see how it could be made cool with a nice logo and all
-Any Hogs option I'd have actually enjoyed. Easy to be made fun of, but unique and roots in our history
-Warriors... not creative but easy to have a dope logo and identity
...

But Commanders ? Really ? Why so serious...

Armada is a fleet, Maryland has the Naval academy, a lot of boating history in the DMV, and the it is a force.

Commanders doesn't roll off the tongue in any type of chant, and just sounds flat to me.

As to animal names, the one part of the Making the brand videos that really stood out was a zoom call with about 15 kids, and one kid says it has to be an animal, so the interviewer asks all of them if it should be an animal, and all of them but one said yes enthusiastically. I don't think they show that if Wolves isn't a serious consideration.
