Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
i feel torn saying this ...
The "blacklivesmatter" protesters are starting to grind my gears. Back on Nov 25, they shut down downtown Baltimore during evening rush hour. It took me about 2 hours to go 5 miles. Yesterday, they apparently decided to hold a rally. They didnt say their route until right before rush hour traffic and then proceeded to close down major downtown intersections. So yesterday it took me only an hour to cut across downtown. I support the idea of "blacklivesmatter", i do believe police disproportionately target black men and also have a heightened sense of fear around black men which leads to unequal treatment. Why cant they plan a huge march on a saturday or sunday? i would join, my family would join. It would get positive press instead of negative. Intentionally blocking traffic to make life miserable for hundred of thousands of people is the opposite way to get people to be receptive to your message. I know there have been a zillion organized marchs in the past and other less obstructive attempts have been made for a century now ... .. . but this is .. inconvenient for me? im a jerk
you hit the nail on the head especially the bolded part. If you want to encourage the masses to join your cause, don't make life miserable for them, they'll only look at you derisively. Protests should be about getting a message across, not about being a squeaky wheel. |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Know what I really can't stand? Packaging that's hard to open. On Christmas morning I needed a knife, a really big knife, a pair of scissors, and a pair of wire cutters. Just to open up toys and shit for the kids.
Frustration free packaging will now be a big reason why I decide to purchase a product. |

urinal? how about this. this morning I walk a block down to 7-11 for milk and ice. As i am walking back, there is a guy 100 feet ahead walking in the same direction. His body actions are kinda odd. As I get closer, there is a trail of piss bc this asshole decided to whip out his dick and piss as he walked. im done with my current barrio. people spit, piss, shit and litter everywhere. come warmer weather, people will be throwing up everywhere as well. every time you park you have to make sure you dont step on dead rat carcass that has been pancaked by passing cars. you then get to watch this rat carcass deteriorate for the next 3 months until one morning the rat carcass is disintegrated. only to be replaced by a fresh dead and pancaked rat carcass to observe for the next 3 months. there is a dead pancaked rat carcass approx every 3rd parking spot, so watch out! this morning for the first time i saw a lil itty bitty baby dead rat carcass freshly pancaked with still fresh red blood coming out of its lil itty bitty dead head. i wonder if a dead baby rat carcass takes the required 3 months to disintegrate? i will keep you posted. pretty sure me and the lady are separating in a few months as well .. |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
^ delightful
my exit ramp from the freeway to the surface street, there are 2 lanes on the exit ramp. left lane = left turn and and straight only right lane = right turn only about 95% of the cars want to make the right turn, so the right lane is always juiced. i also always turn right, but i always see assholes fly in the left lane and make an illegal right turn in the intersection. because of this i make my right turns here EXTREMELY wide, anticipating. so it finally happened, i was making my wide right turn and some nutjob flies in from my left side. i hold my horn down and slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him. he slams on his brakes and looks at me like i'm crazy (as he is facing the wrong direction, in the wrong lane, in the middle of the intersection). then he went to the drive-thru at del taco... |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
also, i was visiting back home in md last week, i forgot about those speeding cameras.
let me just say that if they had those things when i was a teen driver, my friends and i would have robin hooded every single one of them for ourselves, as well as every other motorist. |

arizona tapas? i will def watch the paq v mayweather fight there. lol it is straight latino. reminds me of bars in tijuana's zona norte district (red light). Really loud music, flashing lights, disco balls. me and the lady walked in there once and someone brought us a bowl of ceviche. even though it says "tapas", they do not serve food. we did not eat the ceviche. (okay, i took a few bites, i pride myself on eating anything and didnt want the place to feel bad - spoiled americans are too good for the free food they gave us while i know the guys around us were hungry). it felt weird, like we were getting this royal treatment from a place that is poor. we were the only people offered ceviche. it made me feel bad. i do see these hot looking ladies in red skirts walking in and out of there. but i dont think it is prostitution, they may just be bartenders. give it 15 years and this block will be gentrified and really expensive to live. i was told this block is where native americans used to live way back in the day when they used to build the huge steel bridges in NY. i dont know why they would live in Balt but work in NY. |

No joke, a buddy of mine can do this. Not sure how but I've seen it too many times where someone is standing at the urinal and he'd duck into a stall and all of a sudden, dude at the urinal is bitching because his head is wet. If I knew he was using the John, I always waited for him to finish. |

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
im pretty sure im turning into an angry old man.
i order a grande americano with room. americano is espresso then hot water. I ask for room bc if they fill the cup up with water is dilutes the espresso and you are left with flavored water. So i watch the lady fill my cup up to the brim with water then pour some out to make room. Im tempted to take my americano back and ask for another one bc ... this is fucking flavored water at this point. GET OFF MY LAWN!!! |

Put up 2 lawn chairs and a polite sign saying "Hi neighbor, I spent 3 hours digging my car out of this spot. Please respect the chairs as my spot saver. In a day or two I will remove the chairs once 'reserving spots' is not needed. Thanks." The polite sign is key. Leaves no room for "misinterpretation". |
Move the F out the city, son. No such prolems with a driveway.
At this point the only thing I still really like about living in the city is that I can get to work from my front door to my desk in 15 minutes. That is a significant quality of life thing for me. I do have great neighbors and a generally nice neighborhood. However, pretty much everything else about living in Baltimore City grinds my gears. |

In the world of sub- divisions and Cul-de-sacs I hate to say even with a drive way these problems exist if you have more than one car and one must go to work while the other gets a snow day . |

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
jury duty
Jury duty is actually a once in a lifetime experience. I know no one wants to be actually selected but it is a cool process. At the end of the case you get to sit around with 5 other strangers from all walks of life and try to come to a group decision. Please know that years of hard work and a lot of money have been expended just getting the case to the jury trial. How do you decide what amount of money is fair compensation for 3 months or pain? or worse, a lifetime disability. I have a 2 year old client now that was rear-ended by a drunk driver at a high rate of speed. Her ER records indicate that she associated with the "sad face" of the face pain scale. She had a follow up with her ped. But there is nothing you can do for a 2 year old with pain. They are too young for PT and cant take narcotic medication. The parents are left worried sick for months while their child is exhibiting abnormal behavior, increased crying and sleep pattern disturbances. The insurance company of the drunk driver is offering the family $412. In maryland, in a jury trial case for a car accident, the jury is not told whether the negligent driver has auto ins or what amount of coverage. Defense insurance company attorneys love it bc they play up the idea that their client, nice Mr. Rogers who only looked down for 1 second, doesnt have a lot of money and he is very sorry. What the jury does not know is that Mr. Rogers is a pedophile with 300k auto insurance and he will not be paying a dime out of pocket for the harm he caused. Please know that if a case goes to trial for a car accident, there is auto ins to pay for it. |

The other driver ,a Doctor in a min- van from India ran not one but 4 lanes of traffic to cut across and T boned the car ,as the car caves in the car seat covers my youngest and protected her ,my wife got messed up bad ,neck and back .The only witnesses and off duty county and an off duty state Policeman ,this was the case lawyers dream about .It never saw a court room because the "good ol boy network" covered the Doctor from India because he paid major Lawyer money .I know better now but having only been here 5 years and married six I was worried about other things and was taken full advantage of . |
