Flight is a must see. Original story and a lil unpredictable. Densel, Goodman were great.

Silver Linings for me was all the about the message and superior acting. Lawrence shows why she is going to become the best actress on the planet shortly. De Niro is the De Niro of old and steals scenes from Cooper the entire movie.
Flight was good! I need a good movie tonight to take my mind off life. Thanks for the recommendation.
I personally think Tarantino is super overrated. I'd agree about someone naming David Fincher and if he keeps up the pace he's on, Ben Affleck.
Yeah Affleck has been doing real well in the directors chair. I still haven't seen Gone Baby Gone but the Town was good and Argo was great.

Speaking of Fincher, another great movie he did which didn't get much attention but was really good was Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. That was one of my favorites a few years ago.

Gone baby gone is flat out great.

Argo to me was good, but a little over rated. Really like The Town, Renner is excellent in that.

Dragon Tattoo was excellent, a little long in the end, but still very good.

Weird thing was at the begginning of the movie that chick was hideous, by the end of the movie i wanted to make her my number one f*ck buddy. dont know if id take home to mom

100% on the chick. It was her, lets say, 'desire' and her being up front, cut the bs attitude toward the end of the movie that made her do a complete 180 for me.

Plus Rooney Mara is sexy when she isn't dressed up like a gothic freak.

Its funny, because the whole time I was watching the movie last night, I was thinking of this quote you said.

Folks, if you haven't seen Superman, just wait. Wait for it to come to HBO, Redbox or Netflix. It was bad. There was absolutely no direction in this long 2 1/2 hour flick. Just when the movie seemed like it was going to go somewhere and be good, it quickly changed direction and got bad again.

And then its like Amy Adams character (Lois Lane) its like she just appears and is like 'Hey I'm Lois Lane' and now I'm going to basically turn into the main character for the rest of the movie. Superman himself didn't speak that much (or seem like he was on camera that much). The whole Krypton planet scenes were just dumb, and took up a good portion of the movie. The movie had a lot of flashbacks to when Clark was a kid and how he couldn't use his powers, but they felt like they had to remind the audience that 10 times.

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen. But its definitely up there in terms of worst comic book movies. Spiderman 3, Green Lantern, and Captain America are all pretty bad IMO, but Spiderman 3 and Captain America may actually be better than this one. Hell, the more I think about it, the Superman they made back in '05 may have actually been better than this one.

3.5/10

World War Z ended up being much better than I thought it would. Don't expect the movie to be anything like the book (if you've read it). They've simply created a whole new story and slapped the title on it.

Maybe society no longer wants the goodie good super hero anymore. Today's society enjoys a Batman who has a edge to him.

The other thing with Superman is his enemies suck; boring as shit.

I hate to say it but the Superman genre may just be dead.

Thats a major reason why people are going to like Batman over Superman. Superman is the 'roll your eyes, common superhero'. By that I mean that he is an alien, thats how he is a super hero. There is no good reason or excuse as to why he has powers. Whereas Batman its different, because he is super rich and got trained by a league of ninja's in the Himalayas. That's more believable and more likely to happen than an alien from another galaxy coming to earth with Super powers.

I think the villains come into play as well. As Batman has some of the best and well Superman have some of the worst if not the worst.

Yes, thats very accurate as well. I think since it seems the new superman franchise will be made very similarly as the batman franchise, I expect Lex Luthor, supermans most famous villian to be in the 2nd movie, much like the Joker was in the second batman movie.

If you want to spend your money, take the wife out for a movie, whatever, go see This is the End. Thats a laugh a minute movie in my opinion.

Is Kick Ass worth buying in the $7.88 bin at Wal Mart? (Sounds like it) and Can I get a movie comparison like "If you like _______, then you'll like Kick Ass"

And Yes This is the End (Which I've been hyping for a while now) is about as funny as a movie gets. Its similar IMO in terms of laughs as Superbad, 40 year old Virgin and the Hangover 1.

If I found Kick Ass in the cheap bin at my local Walmart, I would definitely buy it. I'm not sure what other movie to compare it to, another action-comedy most likely, but don't expect a parody like (insert whatever lame parody movie has come out recently), I would say it's more similar to The Other Guys in that the comedy stands up as much as the action (aka not in the adult related humor category). It's good but it's not R related humor if you know what I mean. I also concur on This Is The End, it's the best comedy to come out this year imo.

Well, I saw Kick Ass finally.

Good movie. It held my attention throughout. I liked how it was relatable for the most part (then there was quiet a few over the top scenes). I'm gonna have to check out the new Kick Ass moving coming out which Jim Carrey stares in but is protesting. ( Jim Carrey’s Rant Against ‘Kick-Ass 2’ and 13 Other Stars Who Hate Their Own Films - The Daily Beast )

I'd give it a 7.5/10. Good recommendation guys.

Saw White House Down Saturday and Monsters University today.

White House Down wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Decent leave your brain at home and not think too much of the glaring issues that the movie gives you. Matinee or Redbox/Netflix it.

Monsters University is a very solid prequel to Monsters Inc. The family and I enjoyed it every much. Several nods to Monsters Inc in it. Fun for the whole family.

I'm watching Swingers right now with a young Vince Vaugh and Jon Favreu. Its going pretty slow for me.

Side note, can't wait for the new Oldboy movie (yet spike lee hasn't dropped the new trailer and its coming out in october)

also Elysium with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster looks like The Matrix/Halo/and 5 other movies I can't think of put together into one potentially good looking film.

That's what the grape vine is telling me as well. I'll probably wait until it comes out on Redbox or Netflix to see it.

Finally saw Iron Man 3 last week. I enjoyed it, it was on par with the other two. Nothing really remarkable about it but regardless I enjoyed seeing it. Also saw whatever the last Die Hard movie was to come (I can't remember the name), also pretty good yet nothing spectacular. If seeing Bruce Willis and his co-star whose name idk kick a bunch of ass is enjoyable for you, go see it.

And finally also saw Identity Thief. I thought it was pretty funny, yet an anti-climactic ending kinda dulled my opinion. If you don't mind paying 1.20 to see it through Redbox, check it out.

i thought iron man 3 and the last die were utter garbage. if you go back and watch iron man 1, it was actually well done.

i thought identity thief was great, though i agree the ending was a bit soft.

haven't really seen anything great lately, which is a bit of a bummer.

I really enjoy doc's on the war on drugs. I just watched The House I Live In (2012) - IMDb on a plane ride yesterday. gonna watch it again tonight before my rental expires. It gives points of view from the cops, criminals, judges, and prison guards. It's focus is on how the war on drugs is more or less a war on the lower class, and how it actually effects everyone's civil liberties. All in all I think it's a very well done doc and I highly recommend it.
