I'm sure you all have heard this already, but Batman and Superman will be in the same movie (Man of Steel 2). It'll be out 2015.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Saw that and even though I know what to expect I'll still probably go see that because there are almost never any samurai movies anymore and I kind of like the anime-esque vibes.

That reminded me of 47 movies in one (LOTR, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hero, 300 to name 4 of them) |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Was looking forward to watching The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,I couldnt believe how incredibly bad it was.Wouldnt have thought a comedy with Steve carrell and Jim Carrey would not be funny.Bad script and bad acting

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
lmao whoops. Wrong thread.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Only God Forgives isnt as bad as everyone said and somehow I knew it wouldnt be. Lacks a little in spots, mos def worth a watch. Gosling really good again, still like Drive better. Refn the director has now made a handful of really solid flicks. Ive mentioned them before awhile back, but he directed "The Pusher" trilogy. These 3 movies are incredible, check them out.
A huge movie buff friend of mine said "The Act of Killing" is officially in his all time top ten. He told me its a brilliant approach. |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Identity Thief was awful, putting it lightly.
|
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
identity thief was fine, the ending was lacking though.

I concur with that guy's assessment. |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Saw Wolverine tonight. Pretty good. It's your typical summer popcorn flick. I'd give it a 7/10. Also make sure you stay after the credits. Huge plot line after the credits. A must see.

The best cinematography I've seen this year. Also agree on Refn. This film had a bit of the surreal, similar to Valhalla Rising. The score was composed by the same guy as Drive (Cliff Martinez). Can't wait to see Act of Killing. Jeff Nichols' (Take Shelter) Mud is a really fine coming of age story. |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Emperor is good. especially if you like WW2/history stuff.
also the colony is okay. it's basically a zombie movie though. |

JC isnt funny anymore |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Elysium was good. There were times I thought it was a great movie, and there were times were I didn't like the direction which the film went/it got predictable. But the graphics were great and the action was good as well.
|
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Going to see Elysium tomorrow night and stoked, but in the mean time if anyone is a fan of any of DC's anapimated features, Justice League:Flashpoint Paradox was really good and worth a rental or picking up at target or somewhere for $14. One thing I will say is this was super ballsy of DC because this was one of the hardest I've ever seen a pg-13 rating get pushed and honestly think it should have been r-rated.

He actually looks decent in KA2... which will be a first in a very long while. |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Oh man, I thought I was the only one who saw this... I kind of liked it. I think Omar from the Wire was an executive producer. |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
When I saw he was the exe producer had to watch. The characters in that flick were great.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
So Ben Affleck is the new Batman it seems. I was kind of hoping they'd go outside the box, and go with like Idris Elba

Ehhh. Affleck is an uninspiring choice. I mean I like the guy but this isn't exciting. As far as Elba...I'd love to see him as the next Bond. |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
yeah, affleck as batman sounds about as good as clooney did... not very.
|
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
It's going to be almost impossible to top the last 3 Batman movies.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Pacific Rim is underrated.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I hate Ben Affleck. Didn't anyone see Daredevil? He's just not a good actor to be brutally honest. His directing is good though.
And Idris Alba would be an awful Bond. There are some characters you just shouldn't completely change and James Bond is one of them. |

[YT]9EEtGLLDhNY[/YT]
Agreed. I got a lot more than I was expecting. Then I watched Wolverine immediately afterwards and wished I'd seen Pacific Rim again, instead. Horror fans (mredskins): You're Next is legit. |

Yeah, I think we're in store for a let down. Batman out of the entire comic book genre is the only one I slightly enjoy.....and the reason why is never who is Batman, but who is the villain? Batman seems to have the best villains outta that genre. Whats been the best horror movie this year in wide release? |

Horror fans (mredskins): You're Next is legit.
Hey finally clicked on your link and read the list...very good stuff. One on there I wanted to see but kinda forgot about was The Sound of my Voice. Good to see the Imposter on there. The brilliant thing about that movie is the point of view of the story. I really like how they have the main dude tell most of the story at first because it sucks in the audience to look at him as a sympathetic character. One thing I wish that movie would have done near the end talk alittle more about his entire background and him at present, we only get a snippet. Never heard of Ms Bala, need to check it out. |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Finally saw Gone Baby Gone.
Good movie. Only problem is I recorded it on USA Network so some of the Boston Bar sequences went like this due to editing: "Oh come on you dumb sucker!" " NO Off You!" " Frick you!" "Noo Frick YOUU" |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I hate that crap ^
Totally ruins a good movie |
We're the millers was hilarious

A bit too heavy handed for my taste, but I applaud the originality. Think a hipster Fight Club meets V for Vendetta. Glad you liked the Imposter. I felt the exact same way when I watched it and saw myself slowly rethinking things as the story unfolded. |
