Washington Generals? Like the worst team in sports history? Why not at least name them after the team that beat the Generals 16,000 times and make it the Globetrotters? And I thought the plural of bison was bison. No?

Haha. I think they are trying to make us fear that they pick the shittiest name possible, so when they end up picking a decent one every body is relieved, even those who weren't fans of the selected option.

Leave it as Washington Football Team. Not having a silly nickname is unique in pro sports and the W logo is good so there's no need to change.

I actually agree, The only name I'd like is Warriors anyway so just keep it WFT and put the W logo on the Helmets

They definitely have to put the W on the helmets. I cant stand the numbers, it looks too disjointed.

So since the removal of Redskins as the mascot name...I'm curious to see how many of you are still bitter about it or you're just like meh and moved on. For example, any time someone says anything about "native americans" or "Indians"...I find myself going "hey that's being racist and don't call them that...they don't want to be mentioned....#notyourmascot! The name change has caused me to become racist against them...and I hate that. I know it's a small number of them that lead that charge but I am doing exactly what you're not supposed to do and grouping them all together in my anger. I've always been fascinated with their history and loved learning new things about them and a lot of that came from being a Redskins fan at such an early age, but now I'm just bitter towards them. And yet I still call the team the Redskins when talking about them. Anyone else in this boat?

I see stuff on Facebook, and I hate to use generalisations, but they largely fit into 3 camps; the majority are somewhat sensible if a little uneducated about football, idiots who can barely string a sentence together and the (not insignificant) rest who just take every opportunity to post "change it back" and posts to that effect. Frankly, it's the last group holding things back, like a surfer on a boogie board trying to ride a 50 footer on the north shore.

I mean, how many people went/go to Ravens games protesting they're the real Browns? Or the Titans for that matter?

While I never saw it as profoundly derogatory, I see how it had that connotation and it's no skin (pardon pun) off my nose to change the name and move on. But we need a name. Hearing pundits say "the Football Team" is just awful.

I'm perfectly fine with WFT. I thought the change would bother me but it hasn't at all. Bigger things in life to worry about perhaps.

I've moved on but they need to move on from WFT. I want a name that will be respected. WFT isn't it.

I still don't get why most of the media cannot refer to the team as "Washington" rather than "The Football Team" many are doing it deliberately and the others are just dumb I guess
