B-Mitch put it all on Brooks, saying the coverage team had no shot if it's a low, short line drive like that..

Brooks has been a disappointment for 2 games, Frost was a disappointment for 4 years! Does anyone think the light bulb was magically going to come on this year? Sir Shank-a-lot was good for a 46 yard punt when you were near mid-field in a 7-0 game, but he was really great at shanking a 27 yarder in the 4th quarter when we needed to pin our opponent deep.

I'm fine with some growing pains with Brooks if he makes the transition over the long haul.
Absolutely...and I know it's a PK and not a punter but does anyone remember when the skins pulled the plug on David Akers over a couple bad kicks?

Yeah, that decision didn't come back to screw us for the past 10 years did it?!?!?
Where was this support for Frost back in the preseason? Even when he was outkicking Brooks all we heard was Frost still needed to be cut.
I supported Frost all through preseason. I even voted for him on the Punter competition poll.
if by frost turned the corner, you mean, he just gave up a safety as he let a ball that hit him in the hands bounce out of the endzone....
Giving up a safety is trivial compared to giving up ten points. Frost might not have been the greatest punter for us but I can never remember a time when he cost us ten points.

That is irony at it's greatest, a dude who's name is dissing a player telling everyone we need to love and show these guys support.
The punt coverage really was the main problem on the Bush return. I think it may have been the ballhawk Horton that I noticed got sealed off inside and didn't stick with his lane.
The punt was a line drive to Bush. They had no chance to even get down the field. Reggie was able to field the punt and had enough time and distance to find holes. They weren't at fault on a shanked punt.

A line drive punt doesn't excuse crappy coverage.

I still don't know why we deploy a punter to hold for field goals. It doesn't seem right. I mean, what if you want to try for a fake field goal. To me, it seems you would have better success with a back-up qb than someone who punts the football. It's also another way to get your back-up qb in the game, and experience real-time game situations.

because in practice and training camp when the offense is running you want your backup running the backup offense or watching and participating with the offense, not working on special teams. I don't see why this is so hard for everyone to understand. A kicker needs to practice too. A kicker needs a holder. Why pull a guy who's one injury away from LEADING the offense, and practically the team, away from learning the offense to hold for the freaking kicker...

Its much smarter that special teams guys practice as much as they can together, especially in this age of the specialists.
The point is that Frost out kick him in preseason but some how Brooks won the jod, Thats my problem, and Frost has goten better each season.
yeah i agree with you that frost, with some real 60 yard boomers, did outperform brooks this preseason. with that being said i wanted and still want brooks over frost. the kid will and should turn out solid.

frost did have a legit grip when he left but he had plenty of time to show what he had and shouldnt have waited until we draft some competition for him before he starts to punt well. the writing was on the wall for me when zorn said the punters will be judged on what they did in the preseason and in years past. sorry frost, you stepping up in preseason when death is on the line doesnt cut it for us.

go skins!

ps - real good debate topic of whom should hold: the punter or backup qb. i guess it comes down to who does it the best but id prefer the backup qb if they are dead even.

Hope I don't eat my words, but I full anticipate Brooks booming the hell out of the ball this week.

how did tony romo manage to start and hold ??????????????? hmmmmmmm???????

we could have colt brennan exclusively learn to hold the ball and he cvould do it, and like someone said, then, we really could use a trck play and maybe get a TD on a fake fg.

brennan should be holding the ball imo

I'm pretty sure as Emergency QB, Brennan can only come in if the 1st two QBs are injured, or in the 4th quarter...

I never said everyone does it, i just explained the logic that seemed to evade a few people, but thanks for your insightful comment. :)
