You say that as if ARE fumbles them all. Did Devon Thomas return punts in College?

I just read where Zorn said he is considering changing punt returners. He mentioned Moss and Thrash as possible replacements.

No, only kickoffs and Zorn said he is not an option at PR.

We cannot afford for Moss to be back returning punts unless we use him like Darrell Green was used.

I really hope we don't put Moss back there to return punts... I would like to see Thrash do the honors. He knows how to run forward, Randle El looks like he's trying to go in every single direction at once.

ARE tries too much, he's been watching too many Devin Hester clips. LOL.

Ok this may sound like a knee jerk from yesterday, but what about Horton? He looked good catching the tipped up balls, and he seems to have a certain savvy, plus it gets him on the field more!!

Yes, it is knee jerk. Catching a punt is not as easy as it looks and Horton isn't a returner (or wr or rb or OL). Thrash won't break a big return but he's consistent. ARE has always been a boom or bust returner and now that it is mostly bust he needs to focus on offense solely.

I certainly didn't say catching a punt is easy, my main point was that he seems to be able to see the ball in space, all three turnovers required what I think a punt returner needs, mainly an awareness of the ball and taking it in. I was impressed with his pickup of the fumble, you could tell he was watching the ball the whole way and still knew the field, and the two pop ups again required the type of focus that a punt returner needs. He is a safety which requires a whole field awareness. I know he is not the first option,(or 2nd or 3rd) but Certainly you don't want your main receiving threat in Moss as a primary punt returner, and other than Thrash (who would be my first choice) I don't see any other player standing out for it.

I guess we can forget about Thrash, he's in a boot.

What do you need for someone to have a big return?
Thrash returned only 2 punts last year and one was about 70 yards. (He had 71 yards in 2 punt returns.)

ARE is terrible at punt returns. Overall he has been a disappointing signing by the Skins as he really hasnt done much since he got here.
Also, perhaps most importantly, ARE sucks at PRs in Madden.
Absolutely. If the defenders are close to hitting him when he catches the punt and he doesn't get to take a few strides, he'll fumble as soon as he gets hit. I either bail out or field it and hit the "dive" button right away so the other team won't scoop up the ball and take it back for a TD.

It happens almost every time. If the defenders get blocked decently, he can field it and get maybe 10 yards, but that's not often.

Re: ARE: Punt Returns

that would have been the perfect position for mason if we had not cut him.but moss sure as hell does'nt need to be doing it unless it's ocassionally.i alwayd knew when gibbs put darrell green returning punts,he was going for the TKO,and a lot of times it worked great.
