Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
Bruce Allen is irrelivent really...I am excited at the possibility of there being a thought in Snyders head that maybe quite possibly my front office needs a new voice. If that thought is in his head then that alone is a victory and I couldn't care less if he actually hires Allen, because I will at least know the seed is planted.
I agree with that and...... |
I think Allen's a decent executive and if you all you want is change for the sake of change then he's fine, but if you want change for the sake of improvement then you can do a lot better than Allen
I agree with that. |

It should be noted that this is ProFootballTalk. Until I see something more legitimate I'm not going to pay it much mind.

Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
I wonder, not to get anyone's hopes up, but if this would end up in a way similar to how the Falcons front office situation worked out, in that Rich McKay stepped aside from GM duties to take a job as president for the Falcons while Thomas Dimitroff was brought in to put together the team. That way we would be free from Vinny putting together the roster and Snyder would still have his buddy. Of course though I would seriously doubt that we go into this offseason without Vinny calling the shots, but as I said before I would rather see Vinny either learn or fall flat on his face and paving the way for Snyder to bring in someone like DeCosta.

Ive mentioned this a couple of times over the past year. Partly from speculation, partly from rumors I hear. But yeah I think it's possible, if not probable that if Cerrato is still with the team in a year or two it won't really be as EVP of Football Operations. I see him running the business side or being a top exec there, and that may include Redskins TV, other Snyder properties, perhaps stadium plans, etc. |

Well I really want a Sam Adams but if you make me wait long enough I will probably settle for a Budweiser... |
Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
Yeah, those drafts that were listed weren't so hot. It is good that The Danny is looking at a GM though, if that is indeed what this guy will be.

All I want is Popeyes spicey chicken but were stuck with McDonalds chicken nuggets. |
Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
OK how many of you on the Gruden thread talked about how much he did with the lack of talent he had? If that was you then why would you want BA the man who was in charge of finding that lack of talent for the Buc's.?
Bingo. The Bucs have been the mirror image of the Skins the last 4 years... sometimes making the playoffs and sometimes not, but when they do make the playoffs it's by the skin of their teeth and then they get bounced in the first round. They're a perenniel 9-7 or worse team, which is what we already have here, and their talent level was about the same or even worse. They had dogs on offense and the defense was solid, but not elite (sound familiar). The Bucs are the Skins of the NFC South. But I agree with many of the other posts. It's good to know Danny is at least entertaining the idea of getting help in the FO. |
Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
We might have to shut this board down for lack of activity if the Redskins actually do bring in Bruce Allen
1. We say we want a GM-I guess Allen would fit that bill since he's a former GM at the moment 2. We say we want a "Football Guy"-I guess Allen would fit that bill as a fomer player, player agent, and executive in 3 different leagues So we'll get what we want I suppose...but then what we'll do? Seriously though, my curiosity is piqued with this rumor. But I suspect it's more two friends who talk on a semi-regularly basis and now it's just more interesting because one is out of a job and the other could use someone like him |

Re: RUMOR: Bruce Allen to Redskins?
One thing that makes me salivate is a lot of the lineman he's drafted have turned into quality starters. Sears, Trueblood, and Joesph were all part of a line that helped Dunn (who's 34) and Grahm combine for over 1,200 yards with a 4.2 average. Zuttah also seems to have a bright future with the team. Aquib Talib turned out to be one of the better defensive rookies this year with 4 int's. Clayton was a one year wonder. Barrett Rudd was one hell of a pick and Alex Smith has been a nice role player for them. As for the rest well I'm willing to bet that a lot of them are cut but some of them might have a role that only Buc's fans really pay attention to. Sort of how like how we know about guys on our team like Lorenzo Alexander, Demetric Evans, and HB Blades.
Wow over 1200 yards combined!!!! Didn't we have one rusher with more yards with what we call an old crappy line? So now people here want to try and fix a problem with a person who has not really shown any thing better than vinny at bringing in new talent. |
