Maybe Joe Gibbs can bring respectablity back to the Skins for the duration of the year.
Heck...who thought we'd be respected again after Danny's clowns with Spurriers gators. All it took was a half a season without Gibbs to have everything start to collapse again. I really think a lot of you have underestimated how well Gibbs did under the circumstances....to me....if the best Gibbs could do is win a playoff game...thats as good as is possible under the current management. The only person that could do as well or better would be Parcells...and he aint going anywhere....and to be honest...I don't like him. I am pretty worried about the next 3-4 years unless something major is changed...and I am not just talking about a new coach
It's funny, weren't a lot of saying Gibbs must go when he was here? Well this what you got, enjoy. |
My personal Gruden source tells me he wouldn't want to keep JC at QB. Wherever he coaches he wants to bring his own QB. But who really knows
Yeah, he'll bring Jeff Garcia.Boy did he do a fine job in Tampa Bay, that's just what we need, a guy that can't decide on a QB. |
Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
Do you think that if the NFL gave us all 96 timeouts that we get for the year in week one that we would use them all by week 9?
Haha probably. When we used that timeout on 1st down in the second half I threw a huge couch pillow at my television and cussed like a sailor. My fiancee was just looking at me like I'm a crazy man. She gets it though. Next to the safety on CP, that was the most pathetic play of the game IMO. |

Its TAMPA BAY... How many QB's have failed there and went on to have good careers elsewhere? Steve Young anyone? |
Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
We've got a lot of problems that Jon Gruden can't fix right away (offensive line talent mainly) . But he's still an upgrade over Zorn. Like Gibbs, the team absolutely will not quit on Gruden. The team's already showing signs of fracture under Zorn, it's not a good sign.
That said, things can change quickly in the NFL. The 'Skins were 0-5 under Marty and looked horrendous until they suddenly got good and finished 8-3. I don't see that happening here because our talent problems run deep, but still. I can't give up hope yet. |
I can tell you that as much as I don't like Zorn right now I would be pissed if DS brought in Fassel. I can almost hear his brain now..." The fans will take anyone now so long as they have been a HC before. Now I can finally get the man I wanted all along."
At least Fassel has won more and has more balls than Zorn. I don't want Fassel im just saying I'd take him over Zorn. At least he was a HC. |
Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
Is it me or does Gruden have a big ol smile on his face tonight on MNF? He seems almost giddy...Id place a bet that he's already cashed a Snyder check and Zorn has all his crap in a cardboard box! Now that I think of it...I believe that Snyder is trying to turn this into his own reality series..that'll really piss off Jerry Jones..something like the Deadliest catch show, Dan could title his show "Deadliest Coaching Mistakes". It could be part game show and part reality series...and Danny Boy could dress up like Chuck Barris. He could mount a big Gong on the fifty yard line and the fans could run up and bang the gong when its time for the coaching staff to carry their asses! Brilliant!! You want to talk about selling some merchandise..ole Vinny would have to open up a sweat shop just to keep up with jersey sales...oh by the way I hope that the two of them are watching tonights game on MNF, so they can see what real football looks like. Might I mention that two rookie QB's in new systems are just completly ballin! I'm sorry for the rant but we are just a complete joke...from the top to the bottom!

Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
I do... Steve Czban (sp) put it perfectly into words today on his radio show. Ill summarize.
Vinny is the only "GM" willing to be Snyder's proxy, Snyder could never relinquish control of the team to any true GM that knows the game. Using Vinny gives the appearance that Danny boy isn't calling the shots. Vinny is obviously a horrible football guy, has no clue how to pick the players or coaches, and he knows this so in order to keep a job, he just lets Snyder pull his strings. Lets face it, Snyder would probably rather sell the team than let someone else have control over football operations. Thats probably the main reason Marty was one and done...Snyder couldn't handle not having his hands in the cookie jar. And ironically enough that was the one year I thought the Skins were headed in the right direction. If Vinny goes, what other GM is going to come hear and let Snyder have final say? What coach is going to come hear that isn't allowed to pick their assistants? This franchise is doomed until Snyder puts his ego aside and lets someone who knows what they are doing call the shots.
How long did the Lions keep Matt Millen? Well I guess VS is not that bad. |

Gruden almost always has a big ol smile on his face...don't think Henne is technically a rookie...Sanchez of course is, the same Sanchez that Snyder and Cerrato tried to trade for (and probably could have gotten if not for giving up a 2nd for Jason Taylor) |
I can't belive some of you are even talking about Tebow being our next QB. What a joke. Do any of you honestly think he's got the talent to be an NFL passer? C'mon!!! Stop the nonsense.
They are so sick of watching our offense not score that they are talking themselves into wanting Tebow as our QB. He should not be drafted no earlier that the 4th round than maybe. |
Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
I forgot he was on tonight. :( I would have loved to see our possible new HC. Can a bunch of people who go to the game purchase "Chucky" dolls and dress them up like the Hogetts and wave them around at the next game. Or don't dress them up but wouldn't it be fun just to see people waving them around at the next game. I'm sure it would make ESPN. :)

Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
I like Jon "Chucky" Gruden at least he is a no nonse type of HC. The crap our soft players get a way with wont fly with Gruden. If you make a mistake and you come to the sideline you will get the look of death from him and a earful. I rather have a young coach like Gruden that has a Super Bowl Resume than both Holmgren and Shanahan.
We need a kick ass and take names coach. |
Tim Tebow Scouting Report
If Gruden really wants Tebow then I wouldn't be opposed to it. Right now Scouts Inc has him graded as a mid to late second rounder. If we could draft a top tier Offensive Tackle then get a QB like Tebow in the second, with a big pile driving Center in the third then I would be one happy fan.
I will say this though. The Offensive Line needs at least 3 new starters next year. Mainly at C, RG, and RT. Here's how Tebow grades out to all those who were wondering. Overall Grade 83 1 = Exceptional2 = Above average3 = Average4 = Below average5 = Marginal Production - 1 - Notable accomplishments: the only sophomore ever to win the Heisman Trophy, the only player in NCAA history to rush and pass for at least 20 touchdowns in a season (2007), and only the second player to ever repeat as Maxwell Award winner (2007-08). Height-Weight Speed - 2 - Possesses adequate height and very good speed for the position. A workout warrior who is thickly built with unusual muscle mass for a QB. If anything, he could benefit from a weight lifting program tailored more to the quarterback position. Durability - 2 - Has held up remarkably well considering the pounding he has endured during three collegiate seasons (2006-08). Has started all 27 games the past two seasons. Keeps body in peak physical condition. Intangibles - 5 - Tim Tebow eats babies and spends Friday night tagging new territories for his gang. On Monday he collects protection money from Chuck Norris. Oh and this: Rare intangibles and work ethic. The ultimate team player. Exceptional mental and physical toughness. Temptations that can accompany NFL money and lifestyle will have zero affect on Tebow. Mental Markup -2 - Rare mental toughness. Very few are blessed with his natural competitiveness, leadership skills and work ethic. Both a vocal leader and leader by example. However, there are some concerns regarding his mental aptitude in the passing game. He comes from a unique spread-formation offense so it can be difficult at times to differentiate instincts from inexperience. The bottom line is that he's nowhere near ready to make the kind of coverage reads necessary to succeed as a passer in the NFL. Accuracy -4 - Flashes great touch and the ability to fit the ball into tight spots down the field but is far too inconsistent with his overall accuracy. Needs to learn to change velocities and show better touch on underneath throws. Deep ball will flutter and float too often. Footwork is erratic and accuracy suffers as a result. He frequently operates with enormous passing windows, which allow him to miss within the strike zone with no consequence. He completes a lot of passes that will throw his receiver off course, thus eliminating potential yards after catch. Many of those misses within the strike zone will either be batted down or picked off in the NFL. Release - 4 - Reportedly is working with new QB coach to get the ball out quicker and more over-the-top as a senior. On 2007 and 2008 film Tebow takes entirely too long getting the ball out. It will be difficult to succeed in the NFL with the elongated, three-quarter delivery that he has used the past two seasons. Arm Strength - 2 - Overall arm strength is good but not elite. Gets good zip on deep out throws. Can fit the ball into tight spots in intermediate zone. Deep ball has a tendency to flutter and will get hung up in the air at times. Mobility - 2 - Foot quickness and elusiveness are good but not elite. Displays excellent feel for pocket collapsing around him. Accuracy as a passer does not suffer much when he throws on the run. Also shows ability to throw with defenders hanging from his legs. Rare competitiveness as a runner. Also possesses excellent power, great vision and adequate-to-good speed when he breaks the pocket as a ball carrier. Few QBs enter the NFL with as much experience running the football: Tebow has 475 carries during his first three seasons, the most ever by an SEC QB. |
