No one should be surprised, that shank cost us the game and any chance to beat a great opponent (an 11-0 team). If Gano is an upgrade, we might not have to adreess the K issue this offseason, unless a big time FA hits the market

just curious, when will we know exactly for sure if next year is going to be uncapped?
What's your point? Hall has been a playmaker for us. Suisham has a long history of sucking.
If I recall correctly, DeAngelo Hall joined the Skins in Game 9 last year. Down the stretch, the Skins went 2-6 last year.

This year with Hall on the roster, the Skins are 3-9.

My math says that "Playmaker Hall" has been here for and contributed his playmaking skills to a record of 5-15.

I hope the HoF voters have made a note of that for future reference...
By that standard, every kicker in the league should be cut. I wanted to beat Suisham with a 2x4 on Sunday, but he was kicked the ball through the uprights on 85% of his field goal attempts. He missed two big attempts, but this move strikes me as a knee-jerk reaction based more on emotion than reason. I think we will regret releasing Suisham.
I've compromised enough with respect to Suisham abilities the past few season. I have been resigned to the fact that he can't kick anything beyond 40 yards consistently but I can't excuse this miss, especially since it was from 23 yards, the game was on the line and there was no muffed snap/hold. My standards are already low when it comes to the Skins' kicking game and I shan't lower it any further. Is the move reactionary? Sure, but at this point there is no reason to wait.
some one pointed out the base salary for a vet kicker in the league in another thread, and i wanna say it was a little over a million, hard to say i feel sorry about that
Suisham:$1,000,010.00..at 62,500 a game?

I can think of a couple of game checks he should
not have been allowed to collect

I'm a big FSU fan and Gano was a beast there. He is way better on kickoffs than Suisham, he has a very strong leg, and he was very accurate at FSU. It does concern me, however, that he couldn't make it through camp with the Ravens. Hopefully, he works out.

not really, you have to look at the distance and game situation

if he was 18 for 21 and his missed were all over 35yds thats one thing, but thats not the case.

one was in a dome to put the game away should been made, the other basically a pat again to put the game away
A3-9 football team releasing it's kicker with four games remaining in the season may be a first. I don't know that I remember anything like that happening before. Could have, I just don't remember.
Did the kicking coach get canned too?.......David Ackers(sp)....Eagles,I bring him up becuase he was also a Redskin, wasn't he?

The best FG kickers ever have missed at critical times. I agree with SGG it was a kneejerk reaction to the miss on Sunday. That's the way we do things around here "kneejerk." It's not the frst time and it won't be the last.

The Giants are looking for a kicker maybe they'll sign him and he'll come back to haunt them. Suisham will get a job, so we don't need to feel sorry for him.

Kneejerk reaction?

He was lousy last year and was lucky to still have a job.

Re: Suisham released, Gano new kicker

kneejerk would have been cutting him after the miss in Seattle in the playoffs, or cutting him after the miss in Dallas last year, or even after the two misses against Dallas this year. Now it's just time

Re: Suisham released, Gano new kicker

I would have left him in Seattle...I believe without a doubt that the Redskins were winning that game if he had made that kick. It took all the wind out of their sails and fired up the Seahawks. I consider it possibly the most important missed field goal in my 34 years of watching the Redskins.
