here is the breakdown for rest FA tenders:

Four years of experience

•Original pick compensation: $1.176 million
•Second round tender: $1.759 million
•First round tender: $2.521 million
•First and third tender: $3.168 million
Five years of NFL experience

•Original pick compensation: $1.226 million
•Second round tender: $1.809 million
•First round tender: $2.621 million
•First and third round tender: $3.268 million

3.2 mil to tender JC is not bad at all.

i think or would like to think that if JC is tendered then traded, it woud be comparable to matt schaub. the falcons tendered him for a 1st and 3rd then traded him to the texans for a 2nd (and 6th?) round picks.

if we can get a 2nd for JC, it seems pretty clear to me we should take it. probably even a 3rd and 5th rounder as well.

i would not trade JC for a 4th rounder, he has more value being our QB next year (no matter what happens in the draft) then a 4th roundr imo.

and the talk on the first page about JC wanting a trade if we draft a qb no. 4. he said this past month that he is a starter in this league and doesnt want to and shouldnt have to compete. if we actually draft a qb no. 4, i think JC will let it be known he is not happy but in a polite and professional way, which i would have no prob with and would understand.

I do think MS's plan is to keep JC and draft a QB to sit for a year.

Purely for speculation, If you do get a 2nd for JC, you'd have a 1st and 2 2nds. Trading down we could potentially have a later 1st and 3 2nds or 2 2nds and a 3rd.

4 potential draft picks in the 1st two rounds would be a good thing. That could fill some holes. We'd be sacrificing by not having an experienced QB in 2010. There are some qb's on the market though that could fill that role. Hey, i know, I'm bored.[/quote]

A 2nd and a conditional lower rounder and I think the Skins are interested. But only if we also have a veteran lined up to be the short term starter. I don't see MS tossing a rookie to the wolves in year 1.

This scary scenario is very possible though. It's no secret the Rams' top priority is QB. They likely will take Bradford in my opinion. The Lions have the franchise QB and WR, there are no RBs who merit a #2 pick, so Okung could be a smart pick for them. Suh won't last to #4, so the Bucs would jump on him if he's there. Then what for us? Berry would be great but we should not waste a 1st round pick on a DB. McCoy, great but again, no DT is necessary. Not sold on Claussen, plus we need an O-lineman. I'd say we need to go with [B]Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers[/B]. He impresses me more than Trent Williams from OK.

sorry to quote myself but couldnt we tender JC at the "original pick compensation" of 1.2 mil. then if another team signs him we would get a 1st rounder in return since JC was a 1st round pick?

instead of the 1st and 3rd.

the one that we'd put Campbell under would be:

"The player's original team maintains the Right of First Refusal and First Round Draft Selection and Third Round Draft Selection (both from the team with which he signs) if the team tenders an offer of one year at $2.792 million OR at least 110% of the player's prior year’s salary -- whichever is greater."

Granted you can get the right of first refusal otherwise, but with Campbell being the top FA QB you'll tender him highest and then work on negotiations otherwise. I think that his current salary has part to do with it as well.

Matt Williamson actually works for Scouts Inc, breaks down tape and does analysis for ESPN. Not to say anything against Collinsworth, but I'll pay more attention to what the guys of Scouts Inc have to say about these issues. And my whole point was to counter your label of Campbell being a terrible QB.
