Probably for a while, really no one on the team symbolizes the striving for excellence through this past decade's adversity the way he does. But then again, the new Skins decade begins in earnest tomorrow, so I won't lock it down 100%. |

Cool. CS is one of the greatest of Redskins. I was just curious. |

He says he wants to coach next, wonder if we can make room for him?

He said that Coach S. offered him an coaching internship with the team so he will be there next year. That is awesome, we are really lucky to have a guy like him want to be a part of the team. |

I think he said Shanahan offered him a chance to work in the offseason and he was offered a minority internship. That would be great to have Chris coaching here. :woot: |

HTTR! Excellent to hear! |
re: Samuels Will Hold Noon Press Conference on Thursday to Announce Retirement
why not just call it an internship? calling it a "minority internship" makes it seem like he's being offered the job to fill some sort of quota and not beause he's legitimately qualified for the job.

re: Samuels Will Hold Noon Press Conference on Thursday to Announce Retirement
I'm glad Samuels gets to go out at or near the peak of his game. Jansen didn't, Thomas won't, Moss didn't, Portis didn't, Griffin didn't, Marcus Washington didn't. Samuels is getting the opportunity to cement his legacy as one of the better Redskins of all time, without playing to the point where he is hurting the team.

I agree. CS is a classy guy and a true redskin. He went out at the top of his game, and now he gets to be a coach...

You think Moss is done? |
re: Samuels Will Hold Noon Press Conference on Thursday to Announce Retirement
You think Moss is done?
Compared to the difference between where Samuels is now compared to his peak, Moss was done in 2007. It was kind of cool that he got 1,000 yards last year (08), but I don't think he's got any chance to beat age after the last few years.

re: Samuels Will Hold Noon Press Conference on Thursday to Announce Retirement
So he should have retired at 28?
He's clearly on the downside of his career but he's still got something left, especially in a better system under Shanahan. |

Since 2007, he's been a negative effect on the offense (exception to a 5 game stretch in 2008). I do not believe that any amount of Shanahan magic is going to make Moss a valuable player like he was in 2004 and (particularly) 2005. Most players are like Moss in that they keep playing until they just don't have the desire to play anymore. Maybe Samuels would have been like this if he had the option to play longer. But in his ten year career, he was still our best lineman when he went out, and that's pretty special. |
