When do we get to the point and realize that Griffin probably isn't good enough? I don't care if you bring back Bill Walsh from the grave, if a guy just isn't good enough then it may be time to go in another direction.

If McCoy or Cousins played yesterday, we don't take all those sacks, we hit some of the open wr's in the intermediate game. Yeah there may have been a couple of picks and what not, but at least we'd have a functional offense where the wr's and TE's can have a chance to make plays. Griffin left so many plays out on the field yesterday simply because he has no idea how to run a pro offense.
Yup doesnt see the field at all. Anybody who doesnt see that is as blind as he is.

I guess I don't see the point in "moving past" Rg3 at this point with the 2 years left on his contract. There isn't (as far as I know) a can't miss guy in the draft, so if they just bring someone else in, it's going to be the same exact problem that every QB we've had for the last 20+ years has had. Until they build the Oline up, we'll continue to suck.

Not saying RG3 isn't a problem right now; but until they invest in the line it will be the same story.

You bring in someone who runs a pro style offense. Like Colt did once he shook off the rust against Dallas. No reason we cant bolster the oline thru free agency and the draft. Oh and by bringing in an oline coach who has a clue.
Instead though Snyder will stubbornly let this ship sink while he tries desperately to make Rg-3 the qb of the future. Typical DS crap thats been plaguing us for years. We need to bring in a real GM and give him absolute control over everything football.

Everyone says upgrade the OL yet we have 3 3rd rounders sitting on the bench. How about we use them and find out if they can play.

They were talking about RG's contract on ESPN 980 MMQB show. They way I understand it he doesn't have 2 years left. He has one year left (next season) and then the Skins can exercise the option on the 2nd year (2016) or not. If they do the extension the Skins will be on the hook for $18Mil. I think they said this option has to exercised by May 2015 so the remaining games IMO are very important to decide on that option. If the option isnt exercised then at the end of next season RG will be an unrestricted free agent.

The problem is that you assume we think RG3 is the next Joe Montana. Thats not it at all. What we are calling the problem is developing the QB. It doesnt matter who you draft at this point. We wont develop them. You want to draft a few QB's a year and watch them falter for 20 or 30 more years. I want to fix the development problem so we dont have 20 or 30 more years of this. Whether that is with or without RG3, I dont really care. I just want a functional team.

RG3 could have been developed properly and still can. But until we decide that actually developing a QB is more than signing DJ, it wont matter.

And will people stop talking about Colt McCoy's performance against Dallas as anything spectacular. We scored 19 against the Titans and 20 points against Dallas, a worse defense than we scored 26 on the very next week with RG3. Colt loses the minny game as well. The defense showed up against both the titans and cowboys. Surprise.... Defense matters.

RG3 had a bad game against the Bucs, but if we cut everyone that had a bad game against the bucs, then the only members of the Redskins organization that is left is Alfred and the cheerleaders.

Cant give up on RG3, got to continue to develop him. I would bring in a vet to push him though.

Upgrading the Oline is priority #1 this offseason.

Cousins and McCoy have played way more games, thrown more passes and have been sacked less. Yes, we need some upgrades, but a lot of this is on Griffin. He's over 30 starts in and still can't recognize a blitz, can't stop holding on the ball and still back peddles when he's pressured.

Re: Jay Gruden you are our only hope

Who gives a crap about QB, we have 3 "guys" on the roster. RG3 isn't the guy, the other 2 are just backups...

We stink because we have no talent, not just at QB. They don't pay attention to the lines enough. We have a bunch of guys on the DL, but no one is an elite player. They signed a bunch of free agents, and no one except for Djax is doing anything. Reality is the FO still sucks, and the owner still sucks. Until they start deciding to draft and build a team the right way, we are gonna suck.
I agree with you to an extent, but the FO and management hasnt let Gruden do the things he's wanted. THE MOST IMPORTANT IS CHOSE HIS OWN COACHING STAFF. What dumb fucking FO doesnt let a head coach chose his own staff.

Im done with Bruce as a GM. Im done with both O and D coordinators and our Oline coach.

Some people need to be fired in the FO as well.

Jay needs more time, but its far far from his fault.
I would say that I am equally concerned that Jay took this job knowing how his hands where going to be tied. (I am assuming he brought up his desires as a head coach during the interviewing process). We should be concerned about the FO that does this but we should also be concerned about the HC who thinks this is acceptable to work under.

The guy is playing scared, doesn't want to get injured again. Lack of confidence. OL doesn't help either

The one constant is the mismanagement within the offices of the Redskins during the Snyder era. Not only by Dan, there are a gang of others.

RG3 pocket awareness is terrible, he gets happy feet and starts to feel pressure that isnt there as the game goes on. So even when he has time, he feels he doesnt. Has a hard time pre snap and has a hard time seeing the field. Jay needs to move the pocket more for him, but he doesnt for some reason.

Well then sit his ass down. If he comes out like this against SF then put in McCoy or KC. Guys were running wide open yesterday and he just didn't pull the trigger.

Re: Jay Gruden you are our only hope

The reason I titled the thread "Jay Gruden you are our only hope" is because I think Gruden has what it takes to win long term, if and only if, he has the balls to make hard decisions (Griffin, Haz, etc). I hope he does, if not, it will be the same thing year after year. Haz is a huge issue with me, he has never had a top defense, by any stat (not just yards)

As for Allen – I have no idea if he or Shanahan is responsible for the roster; I am not sure anyone not in the room really does. I do know we started to address the Oline the last 2 years, so I am willing to wait on another year or two to see if we keep our own drafts or not (Riley, Robinson, Kerrigan, Amerson) and see if any of the O line drafts replace vets in the next year or two. I guess I am saying I am willing to give Allen three years of him running the show to see how it plays out. I am not saying I am optimistic, I am not saying I am not; I just want to see what happens.

At least Special Teams continues to get better (minus Forbath)

As to the Apocalypse Now quoter.....yes this thread is a Star Wars quote.
